Check if current URL is submitted on reddit. Submit link or join the discussion.
This extension lets you check whether the current URL you are on has been submitted to reddit. You can jump right into the discussion if the the link has already been submitted. Otherwise a "Submit this link" is provided for a link to reddit submission page.
This extension will save you some time if you are about to repost a link. Also this extension is a quick way to check for reddit's comments on a blog or article.
** UPDATE 0.8
1. Cache results to reduce network overhead
2. Bug fixes: Sometimes, clicking the button opened the submission page even when there were results.
** UPDATE 0.7
UI Improvements
** UPDATE 0.6
Added Blacklist on Options page to not run Reddit Check on certain websites. For example, you may not want Reddit-Check to run on your company's internal website or your bank's website. You can add these to your blacklist.
Adding "bank" will stop Reddit Check from running on any URL containing "bank".
** UPDATE 0.5
1. For youtube, check the url without '&feature=' and '&context='. Also do https + http.
** UPDATE 0.4
1. Better design
2. Show reddit post count on each tab in icon

- (2024-11-19) Jeff Kang: For the longest time, I was using the Reddit Check extension. However, it doesn’t look like it has updated to Manifest Version 3 yet, and might be disabled soon. I recently found Find on Reddit, and will switch to that to be safe. I do appreciate that both Reddit Check, and Find on Reddit are open source on GitHub.
- (2021-05-07) mark ifi: it's great, I've been using it for a year and it just works well
- (2019-03-26) Ramon: Needs a whitelist only option. I don't need it checking every site. I have specific sites I want it to work on only. I don't wanna have to manually blacklist every other site.
- (2018-04-22) Andrew Meyer: CAUTION: This extension sends all your browser history to Reddit. Take note: In order to display that little badge next to the extension showing how many Reddit posts exist for the current page, this extension searches Reddit for for the URL of the current page. Since it does this for _every_ page you visit, Reddit is getting a complete copy of your browser history in realtime. This isn't necessarily malicious behavior, since it would be very difficult to provide that feature without doing this, but I feel this is something that's important for users to be aware of.
- (2017-10-28) Matthew Edmundson: Uses a lot of RAM for such a simple extension. There's a bug where it'll be blank for various sites, with only the close x showing.
- (2017-08-15) Loppzor Koff: Great extension. But I would like a whitelist option.
- (2017-01-20) David McElroy: Please add an option to exclude/blacklist some subreddits.
- (2016-08-21) Simon Jenner: Sometimes clicking it takes me to a submit to Reddit page instead of showing me the normal window
- (2016-08-12) Jeff Kang: I was using Reddit Companion. Once a link is posted, Companion shows you 1 subreddit, but doesn't seem to show you whether the link was posted in other locations. Reddit Check instantly shows you all the locations.
- (2016-08-04) manda jt: Pretty good, but lately (Aug 2016) it says videos/sites/articles haven't been posted but they have. I ended up reposting something that someone else posted yesterday because I thought it hadn't been posted yet. Kinda annoying.
- (2016-02-18) Ryan Finkler: This extension does exactly what I need. The only major complaint I have is that clicking the button will sometimes open a new tab at times it shouldn't, and this gets really annoying. Sometimes I just want to see the list and it does that instead. In fact, please allow for the option to disable that feature altogether. Another small thing. When I middle click a link in the dropdown, don't make the dropdown go away. Only make it to that if I click on the button again or I click off of it. Please make these changes.
- (2016-02-01) Brandon Lindquist: Needs an option to only check pages I ask it to, instead of every page I visit.
- (2015-11-01) Girl With the nerdy tattoo: Excellent addon especially if you are dealing with news links such as political stories where you MUST be first to post or not bother
- (2015-08-30) Aaron Mauldin: Fantastic. Can't recommend this enough.
- (2014-09-09) hg vg: solid
- (2014-01-04) Alex Gordon: Many times a link was posted already on the subreddit I am posting that link on. And it does now show up as posted already
- (2013-09-30) Alex B: Great app. Works exactly as advertised. Shows all of the posts quickly and shows you the score of each one so you can look for the most popular one. What I also like is that if nothing is there, you can directly submit it to reddit. A+ would reccomend
- (2013-09-17) Alex Gillings: Great extension but I wish it always opened the little drop down menu instead of opening the new tab unpredictably
- (2013-08-06) Christofer Garner: Works great.
- (2013-07-12) Chris Martinelli: Good but a little unpredictable in results. Used side-by-side with reddit anywhere and had better luck there. Also, disable auto-check and links that originate from reddit?
- (2013-06-07) scrungo beepis: Excellent app, a must have for every redditor. Not only it helped to find submitted links it has also helped to find me tons of new subreddits. Only thing that irks me a little bit is that links with more than 100 upvotes have number too close to the border of the 'bubble'. But that's it.
- (2013-06-07) Works great since the latest update, great redesign!
- (2013-02-26) justin bogardus: was great before, now it is just stuck on leading...please wait. cant really use it anymore can you see if there is a bug?
