Description from store This extensions fixes the original Always Clear Downloads (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cpbmgiffkljiglnpdbljhlenaikojapc) that can no longer be installed since Google discontinued support for extensions using manifest.json version 1 (see https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/manifestVersion) * Version 2.1 - This version modernizes the code to use the most recent Chrome APIs. Should also prevent the extension from going inactive. This version requires more permissions so you will have to re-enable the extension. The new permission simply allows the extension to access the download shelf. * Versions 2.1.1 & 2.1.2 - Misc. bug fixes * Version 2.1.3 - Clear download list along with hiding the download shelf. * Version 2.1.4 - Fix issue with multiple downloads The source for this extension can be found at https://github.com/tsuliwaensis/AlwaysClear --- This Google Chrome extension makes up for the fact that Chrome does not have an option to keep its download list clear at all times. You can clear the downloads list yourself by hand, but Chrome currently doesn't have an option to automatically clear it for you. This extension does it for you automatically. This extension works in a very simple way: Every five seconds, the downloads list is cleared out for you. Don't worry, the files you downloaded are still there, and in-progress downloads are not harmed. Chrome's internal list simply gets cleaned up for you every five seconds.

(2019-09-06) Davy: Works OK but it's really annoying that if I am downloading multiple files (videos) at the same time, it hides the download bar as soon as the first one finishes, so I can't see the progress of the other files that are still in the process of downloading. When Google changed their API requirements, I never updated the extension to fix it, and eventually my version got removed from the Chrome Web Store. This new author has taken up the mantle, and re-released it with the necessary updates, and also made it open source on GitHub. It works perfectly for me when I tried it on the following systems: - Mac Version 69.0.3497.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) - Windows Version 69.0.3497.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) Please note! There is an unfixed bug in the Google Chrome API which causes this extension to always reset the downloads folder to the default folder. This is a bug in the Chrome API, not a bug in the "Always Clear Downloads 2" extension. For instance, if you configure Chrome's default download folder to "c:\my_downloads" in Chrome's Advanced Settings, then this extension will keep resetting the folder to be that. If you download a file to a different target location using "Save link as...", and pick a different location such as "c:\temp\testfolder", then instead of that new location being the new default, this extension will cause downloads to go back to "c:\my_downloads" on the next download. Personally I like that behavior, but sometimes that's different from what people expect. I filed a bug with Chrome about it, but after nobody touched it for a few years, it got closed/ignored: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=158965 Other than that, this extension works great.

(2018-07-25) Adufus: При отмене закачки, файл остается в списке и не удаляется автоматически. Думаю стоит доработать этот момент. If you cancel the download, the file remains in the list and is not automatically deleted. I think it's worth to refine this point.
