Save time on HN by marking read the titles and comments you already scanned. And more.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY FORK OF THE ORIGINAL EXTENSION! IT'LL ONLY BE AVAILABLE WHILE THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR OF "MARK ALL READ" DOESN'T FIX THE OFFICIAL VERSION. Fixed post HN changes on June 1, 2016 Code available here: https://github.com/guiambros/HNMarkAllRead -- Save time on HN by marking read the titles and comments you already scanned Use this extension to mark all news items in a Hacker News listing page as read. This way, when you reload the page, you will be able to immediately spot the new items that you haven't scanned yet, because only those new items links will show a "not visited" color. You can also hide the items you marked as read. The data about marked as read items is stored on your local browser and is shared between HN pages: If you mark an item as read on the "news" page and it later makes it into the home, you will see it as read in the home too. You can also choose to follow the comments of a news item: If you do so, the item will appear (with a different color) in the home page even if it was marked as read. You can mark the comments as read, and read the number of unread comments in the home page. Last but not least, you can collapse comment threads, and show the parent of a comment you're reading by hovering on the "show parent" link. This way following discussions with lots of comments becomes easier. Enjoy!

- (2016-06-01, v:1.43) Stoyan Stratev: update needed?
It seems the Mark All Read is no longer working as of June 1st, 2016 possibly due to a change in the HN markup. I was able to fix it by modifying the following line: var mainlink = $(sub.parentNode.previousElementSibling.childNodes.childNodes); // fixed after HN change April 17, 2015 changing childNodes to childNodes
