An anti-social social extension to hide commenting systems across the web, including Disqus, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
Hide various commenting systems across the web, including (but not limited to) Disqus, YouTube, various news sites and forums, etc.
It's triggered when the page is first loaded, or the URL changes (you click a link), or the comments are injected into the page (Disqus and YouTube delay loading comments), or when you open the popup (via the extension icon in the toolbar) and choose to toggle a page or whitelist (allow) a new URL.
USAGE
The extension checks whether the loaded URL should block comments, then unblocks those URLs that match any regex patterns you've specified on the "options" page.
You can also specify a list of URLs as regex patterns, one per line, that should display comments all the time (the extension is effectively disabled for those URLs). Your list of excluded sites uses synchronized storage, so it should be available on any machine you've installed the extension on. (See: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Guide/Regular_Expressions)
You can quickly add the URL of the current page by opening the extension popup (by clicking the icon in the toolbar), and then selecting a URL (or entering a custom one) and pressing the "Allow" button. Note that, unlike the "options" page, these URLs are entered normally and not as regular expressions.
Click on the icon in the toolbar and press the large "toggle" button to temporarily toggle enabling/disabling the extension for a single tab.
PERMISSIONS
You'll be notified that it can "read and change all your data on the websites you visit" because that's how it works - it hides certain comment-related elements on the page so you don't see them.
It also uses storage to save its state, but it shouldn't prompt you for that.
CONTRIBUTING
If you notice a commenting system that could be added (blocked), open an issue (see "support" link). Include the website where you noticed it, and I'll try to follow-up as time permits.
Additionally, if you're comfortable with regex and html/css, you could just create a pull request against the file that defines which sites and html elements are blocked, here: https://github.com/grantwinney/hide-comments-everywhere/blob/master/sites/sites.json
NEED HELP?
Have a question, comment or request?
Open a new issue (see "support" link) with as many details as possible. The more you let me know upfront, the less I'll have to ask later!

- (2023-07-17) Val Arc.: Great idea! but unfortunately (as always) not working me. I m very sad today... I need this for blocking Any comments on "social" (battle ) networks , facebook, instagram, twitter, youtube, and blogs ,everywhere in which one 'learn' to be offensive words and so on. socials comments should be disappeared the concept. I think someone should really do something . I feel sad this app don't solve my problem. I feel so stressed by all those comments. I think social networks love the hate and bad comments... it's time to clean this world from this. People get all angry each others and speak like the words they read. All bad words everywhere. It's really time to do something. I also think this should be on Android mobiles as well, as we spend more time to surfing on internet by the mobile.... I really wished this could work.... really... I hope the developer really will do something and for mobiles :(((
- (2023-05-31) Faris Osama: Wow, Iam surprised it works with twitter. I used to use another extension but it didn't work with twitter at all. great job. the internet can become a very overwhelmingly toxic space sometimes. This extension helps so much. It doesn't work on (hoyolab.com) though, is it possible to look into it and see if it could block comments there too?
- (2023-05-30) Daniel Hobbs: The world is a cesspit of warped right wing views and hate. This plugin helps me not have to put up with seeing anymore of that bullsh*t.

- (2022-09-27) Patrik: I can't believe I've gone through my whole power-user life and not known this extension exists. I've used a CSS-injecting plugin to manually add `display: none !important;` to sites I don't wanna see comments on. This is sooooo much easier. I hope it will still work after Google enforces the stupidity that is Manifest V3.
- (2022-06-09) Lahcen Idrissi: It's doesn't work never with me
- (2022-04-07) Aaron W (Chimera Photography): Woah... Just thank you. My blood pressure, and mental health thank you.
- (2022-01-29) Berkay Kahraman: Sırf toksiklerden kurtulmak için. Bir videoya giriyorum 1-2 tane toksik olsa dahi yine görmüyorum, rahatlıyorum. Mis gibi. Yorum yazanlar lütfen toksiklik yapmayın artık (video-kanal fark etmeksizin herkese söylüyorum).
- (2022-01-24) Thiago Lima: Works like a charm to hide comment sections from social media sites, blogs, etc. As a developer, I'm actually impressed. Would be good to have a customizable "default" option. Currently, default is "hide" and you have to manually unhide, per tab, when you want to see the section. Ideally I'd just want to manually hide them when comment sections are too long and mess up scrolling experience.
- (2022-01-05) Cole Olson: Whoever made this app I LOVE YOU! Like seriously one of the greatest things to exist in modern era. Over time I realized that comment sections at large left me feeling annoyed angry exhausted or just honestly depressed... eww. Went searching in the chrome store found this beauty life has changed forever thank you devs <333
- (2021-11-05) Michael Wong: GOAT extension
- (2021-09-26) Hardik Khandelwal: I wanted to hide comments on Twitter and it magically did that. Very helpful. Thanks :)
- (2021-07-27) Eric Rosen: It's 3 am, and once again you've found yourself going down a rabbit hole of rage and self-loathing as you've gotten into *yet another* internet argument with some troll in a comment thread. NO MORE. Download this extension, and forget the bathroom wall of the internet (the comments section) ever existed in the first place.
- (2021-07-16) Ian J: "Block URL" button seems to open a Github link that leads to a login page, as someone else said. Maybe it's a bug, but it doesn't seem to work in it's current state.
- (2021-05-27) 楊雁雯: it didn`t work on FB.
- (2021-04-10) ed_dreyse: *belting these words* I JUST HAD DONE THIS SOOONEERRRRRR
- (2020-11-22) thanh do: Great app! Help my mind become a lot more peaceful! Thank you
- (2020-02-06) Y. M.: The most useful extension ever. Every time I disable this I see the comments I don't like at all.
- (2020-02-06) Michael Pilgrim: It forces you to join github. Seems like a scam
- (2020-02-04) Shizzy: Absolute godsend of an extension. Would highly recommend.
- (2020-01-03) John Susek: Works really well, thanks!
- (2019-10-18) Foleso: Words cannot describe how HAPPY I am that this exists. I probably spent WAY more time than I should've just scrolling through YouTube/Twitter/Disqus comments, just looking through all the opinions, and getting mad at some comments that looking back, were obviously trolls. Seriously, if you want to get work done, get this extension. Remove it if you when you need to (sometimes I need to check replies on my own tweets, etc.) but this seriously helps you stay focused and on track when you have better things to do.
- (2019-04-08) Evellyn gonçalves: It's a great extension if you don't want to see idiot comments
- (2018-09-16) taemin: I only want to hide comments, not the captions on Instagram
- (2017-11-22) Andrew Afolabi: Does exactly what it says
