Description from extension meta

A Google Chrome Extension to automatically exit Kiosk mode when any window navigates to *exitkiosk*.

Description from store A Google Chrome Extension to automatically close Kiosk mode when any window navigates to *exitkiosk*. Based on the "openkiosk" extension, this extension fixes an issue with that extension so that it will work with kiosk apps opened using the chrome -kiosk flag. This application is intended for use by Kiosk-Mode applications which need to be able to close back to the desktop. Closes any window (tab) in chrome which contains the characters: 'exitkiosk'. Note that this may interfere with general web browsing. Although it's unlikely any page will contain these characters. If you are the creator of a kiosk product then this extension may be useful to you as self.close() will not shut the kiosk. Install this extension and then launch your kiosk app with a shortcut: (Windows) "C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --kiosk http://localhost/"; If there are no other chrome windows, the page will be launched as kiosk mode. To shut your kiosk mode full screen app, call: javascript:location.href = 'http://exitkiosk';; And the extension will shut the kiosk.

  • (2019-09-08) Matt Maux: works! does exactly what I needed it to do... I needed a way to close any tab within javascript/console since window.close() wont work... so all I need to do is point the page to #exitkiosk in javascript and bam the window closes right away, perfect. would be great if there were some options such as "custom close word" and custom domains (to only run on certain defined domains). but it's allowing me to do what I need to do right now so that's good enough for now :)

Hi there Hope you're well We had a different Chrome Extension (called Close Kiosk) deployed to a lot of machines where once someone is finished with a webpage of ours, it would close the browser by directing them to http://closekiosk. Unfortunately this is Extension has since been removed from the Chrome Web Store and we can no longer automatically deploy it through synced users. Would it be possible for you to add an option to customise the trigger key-word? The reason I ask is that while we can probably roll out your extension as-is to our machines and update our web app to exit to http://exitkiosk/, we have a lot of older ones that are not synced, and would therefore get stuck on the new URL. Just thought I'd pop the question - let me know if you would like any more info! Cheers

Hello, Thanks for this great/straightforward extension! Just to be sure; This extension is free to use and we don't need a license when we want to use this extension as a company? Thanks!

I was using a similar extension called "close kiosk" that is now unavailable from the chrome web store. Did you guys create that extension too? I was just wondering what happened to it and if you think the same thing will happen to this extension.

Hi! I tried your Exit Kiosk plugin and it almost solves my problem... The problem is that my kiosk application have two open tabs. Would it be possible to add a setting to close the entire browser when navigating to "exitkiosk" (not just that single tab)? Have a nice weekend! /Magnus
