Description from store Skip Redirect ===================== Some web pages use intermediary pages before redirecting to a final page. This webextension tries to extract the final url from the intermediary url and goes there straight away if successful. As an example, try this url: - www.google.com/chrome/?or-maybe-rather-firefox=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mozilla.org/ Please give feedback(see below) if you find websites where this fails or where you get redirected in a weird way when this add-on is enabled but not when it's disabled. See the add-on's preferences (also available by clicking the toolbar icon) for options. By default all URLs but the ones matching a blacklist are checked for embedded URLs and redirects are skipped. Depending on the pages visited, this can cause problems. For example a dysfunctional login. The blacklist can be edited to avoid these problems. There is also a whitelist mode to avoid this kind of problem altogether. In whitelist mode, all URLs for which redirects should be skipped need to be configured by hand. Skip Redirect is simply the best of any redirect type extension, because it seems to be the only one that can block all types of redirects globally and you can add exceptions as needed. Other extensions that work on only a short list of specific sites or where you have to manually add your own links are just way too cumbersome to use well. [Hopefully an MV3 update is forthcoming but it looks like the extension is no longer being worked on, unfortunately.]

(2024-02-20) mars (a hopemin enthusiast): My Moodle course expired and I'm trying to finish my final assignments I've made a bunch of extension excuses to a professor (lol rip me) but it still redirects back to the re-enrolment page :// Yes, the school page already directs me to the direct link of the assignment but then adds on a new URL link for the re-enrollment page to hide the assignment page (since I'm no longer in the course) and this extension doesn't block that. Though, I'm gonna see if this works on movie sites later which is why I'll give it 2 stars from now and adjust from there if it works for those at least.

(2023-12-11) Leland Olney: second edit: ok, settling on 4 stars. had a look through the github, and then had a look at the urls that were bothering me the most (google shopping links). google seems to be putting encoding the url such that it is not possible to match with regex (or any other pattern matching) without first decoding whatever its encoded with. if it were not encoded, this extension would almost certainly catch it. that said, it fails to decode somewhat frequently, and on enough sites that it makes more sense for me to use the explicit allow list rather than adding particular domains to a skip list.

My ad-blocker stops redirects so I could not open the links. The redirects I was trying to open was "https://www.ojrq.net/p/?return=".

(2022-12-20) Shane Windsor: I don't know how this extension got on my device, maybe someone else who was using my computer installed it. It has caused me no shortage of grief, causing numerous websites to malfunction. Most notably, it tends to be disastrous when it comes to the internet archive, where it will "skip the redirect" of the internet archive and forward you to the current domain of the archive website which is a 404 at best and malware-ridden at worst.
