Nobody asked for loud autoplay videos. It’s a dark usability pattern and it’s not something people ever desired or wanted.
This extension will mute all tabs by default unless you whitelist the domain. The whitelist is stored locally, and the extension will remember it, so you don't have to unmute sites you trust.

As the subject already says, the whitelist does not work anymore. Every time I open a new tab from a whitelisted domain (for example YouTube) it is muted again, even though I whitelisted the domain several times before. I have to de- and reactivate the whitelist for it to work again, but only once for the currently active tab.
