- (2025-03-29) Seth Bo Nelson: ClearPlay is a great extension for families who want to skip bad content while still enjoying movies. I’ve used it and like the idea behind it, but I think it could be even better with some big improvements and new features that would make it more flexible and fun to use across many types of content — not just movies. Here are my suggestions to make ClearPlay the best censorship extension out there: 1. AI TV/Radio Censorship Features: Please add AI-powered censorship that works with live TV, streaming shows, radio stations, podcasts, and even older media. This could automatically mute or skip bad language, violence, or inappropriate scenes. I want this to be available for TV channels, online streams, and more, not just movies. 2. Add More Modes for Censorship: ClearPlay should have a variety of modes, such as: Mild Mode – Censors only strong language and sexual content. Kids Mode – Blocks anything not kid-appropriate. Teen Mode – For families with older kids. Faith Mode – For those who want cleaner content in line with religious values. Classic Cable Mode – Edits content to be like the family-friendly versions that aired on networks like Hallmark, Freeform, or Disney Channel. Educational Mode – Keeps teaching content but removes scary or inappropriate parts. Custom Mode – Lets users pick exactly what they want to filter: language, violence, blood, kissing, scary sounds, etc. 3. TV Channel Versions of Movies and Shows: Please add an option where we can view or choose edits based on how that movie or show aired on TV — like FX, TBS, Disney Channel, Hallmark, Nickelodeon, Freeform, Cartoon Network, etc. These versions were already edited for family audiences and would be fun to relive! 4. Add an Audio Speed Changer: Let us change how fast or slow the audio and video play, with the option to keep the original pitch or not. This would help people study or rewatch their favorite scenes without rushing or dragging the voices. 5. Add Custom Playback Speed: Give us a slider to set playback speed exactly how we want (like 1.2x or 0.8x). Some preset modes like: Story Mode Study Mode Fun Mode would be nice too. 6. Expand Support for More Platforms: Please add support for older DVDs, Blu-rays, game systems, classic emulators, and other apps. Also make it easier to use across all browsers, TVs, phones, and devices. ClearPlay is off to a great start, but I hope this feedback helps bring more fun, flexibility, and safety to families like mine. I love clean entertainment that still feels exciting, and I think with AI and more tools, ClearPlay can help make that happen! – Seth Bo Nelson
- (2025-02-08) iFly Dad: Service has been down for 3 months for Disney Plus... they say they have it back working finally but for it to work I have to delete my entire web history, all my cookies for ALL websites and ALL my saved password data. Here is their supports step 2 to fix this issue 2 - Clear Google Chromes Cache • In the address bar, type: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData Set the Time range to All Time. Check the following boxes: Browsing history Cookies and other site data Cached images and files Click Clear data to complete the process. And on a side note, they broke Showtime and Paramount + filtering with all their "fixes" What a joke they have become
- (2024-10-26) Tiffany Hall: This is a great site it helps our family watch movies that we would normally watch.
- (2024-09-21) Matt Crawford: We have just discovered Clearplay and find it fantastic. It has protected our family from questionable and offensive material. The service works seamlessly with movies on Amazon. We have never had a problem. High praise and 5-stars. Will recommend to friends and family.
- (2024-05-31) Jason Shuler: I only wish clearplay would work on a mobile browser (like firefox or kiwi) it would be 1000% easier to use. Is this plugin going to survive the Manifest V3 fiasco? Is there a firefox port in the works for those of us who do not trust google? Thanks!
- (2024-02-19) Lexy: Such a great service! I wish more families knew about this great resource. Easy to use, and cleans up many popular movies!
- (2024-01-19) Brian Brooks: Works great. Beware that foul language is not filtered from Close Caption, this only extension only filters the sound. I've mainly used it with Amazon Prime Video. Does require an monthly subscription which kind of stinks. I've used it on Windows 10 PC and Chromebook both with an HDMI cable attached to my TV.
- (2024-01-09) Michael Perdue: been using for years, but your definitions are TOTALLY messed up! f and S should be under "graphic vulgarity" and euphemisms should be a separate category. PLEASE FIX THIS.

- (2023-09-06) Todd Owens: This extension worked beautifully...once. Everytime I click on the extension now it is blank. I tried to select a movie from the clearplay website, it told me to install the extension. I have removed, reinstalled, restarted my computer, tried different browsers...nothing is working. The idea behind the clearplay is wonderful, but if this cannot be resolved quickly, I will cancel my account and have to look elsewhere.

- (2023-08-18) Eric Mathews: FIX THIS EXTENSION PLEASE! Constantly have to delete and reinstall extension in order for the extension to be signed in and therefore work. Extension Sign-in DOES NOT WORK without constantly deleting the extension and then reinstalling it. No issues signing into clear play website.

- (2023-04-02) Val Lusis: I installed this extension hoping to test it out and see if it would be useful for my needs. However, I was disappointed to find that I was immediately required to enter my credit card information to use the product after the trial. As someone who prefers to test out a product before committing to a purchase, I was disappointed with this approach. I want to have the option to try it out and decide whether it's worth investing in before providing my personal and financial information. Overall, while the product may have its benefits, this approach to requiring credit card information upfront leaves me skeptical and hesitant to proceed with using it.

- (2022-08-25) NickIzAnewb: This extension is amazing and has helped me to get through a lot of movies which I would usually need to mute out on my own. How it works is somebody goes through the movie and censors out certain scenes, and adds it as an option for others to turn off/on. You can uncensor anything you want, so I usually keep the language censored and leave things like mild violence uncensored. It works exactly as advertised and I would say that this extension is a 9.5/10! There’s a good amount of features that come with the filtering options, and the subscription for the app is pretty cheap. Also, if there’s a movie which isn’t supported, they are really fast to fix it which is great! The only movies which have missed certain words are the Truman Show and Rush Hour (In that movie it can be hard to tell what some characters are saying so I understand) I would say that they did an amazing job, and I only have two small things I want to ask for. -Whenever I exit/leave my computer I need to sign in again. An option to keep myself logged in would be great. -Rocky 3 doesn’t have enough filtering options besides the language, probably has the lightest options out of any Rocky movie. Thanks for reading, this is super worth it and has a great price! (9.5/10)

- (2022-01-18) JazF: Glad for the free trial. Not worth the cost. You can't search for movies by name. You have to scroll and it's not even in alphabetical order. That really needs to change.

- (2022-01-03) Tommy Latham: It works great, but a workaround for when filters don't show up for a movie on Amazon prime. When you're on an Amazon movie page, and in the Clearplay extension dropdown, if it only shows the "browse movies" list when it should be showing "Filters Available!" or "Sorry, No Filters Available" then here's the fix: Just select any movie showing in the list of movies you can browse in the Clearplay extension dropdown. Just pick one. Then it shows the filters for it. Then go back and search for the Amazon movie, then click the Clearplay extension... bam! There they are. Funny, but it works. Oh, and the search feature has been broken for years in the extension, so don't even try that. But 5 stars for great filtering! It's worth it for sure.

- (2021-12-28) Richard Frost: ClearPlay is such a great service. With it I can enjoy movies the way I want to enjoy them, and even share some great movies with my kids. The collection of filtered movies is always growing, and they do a great job of making new releases available quickly. If you are like me and would like to enjoy movies without all the unnecessary/objectionable content, I highly recommend it.

- (2021-12-28) thejustaguy: I have only tested it for HBOMax. Filtering doesn't work when you cast to Chromecast or Android box. They need to make an Android Box version since the current setup from laptop to TV doesn't work. Even in the Chrome browser, I occasionally get an error that "filtering only works with Ad-free HBOMax subscription." I am getting my subscription through AT&T broadband. I have already checked in my HBOMax account and made sure that my subscription is ad-free.

- (2021-11-20) Aaron Chan: WARNING DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO. I signed up for the free trial thinking that I'd try it out for a day and see if it was any good and then cancel if I didn't like it. I was not that impressed, especially being a Canadian user I didn't see any good options. Pretty brutal software. I then went to login on their website which is suspiciously challenging to get to (they don't provide links anywhere, you have to manually get there) and I tried to log into my account of which I know the password, not only did Chrome save the password for me when I made the account, I also made it 5 minutes earlier and knew exactly what it was supposed to be. It kept telling me I had an "invalid login". I then tried the "forgot password option" and it does nothing. I tried it twice and have received no "password reset option" in my email, checked junk folder too. I'm convinced now that they have my credit card info, they have given me no way to opt out of the subscription service and will just continue to charge my credit card.

- (2021-10-12) joh Fredrick: I've been a customer of ClearPlay for about 7 years and rate their filters at 95% successful. The Chrome extension does not work, period. After installing the extension and signing in, I bring up a movie on Amazon that is on the streaming list (Roman J. Isreal, ESQ), tap the puzzle button and find the software is off. ???? No messages, no error codes, nothing, just frustration.

- (2021-03-18) Andrew Ziem: I love the ability to filter the language from PG and PG-13 movies that are otherwise good entertainment. The selection of movies is much better than VidAngel because of its legal troubles with Disney studios. ClearPlay worked reliably on all ~10 Marvel movies on Disney+ so far, but The Martian (rented) on Amazon mostly did not filter any language. It was shocking to find out with an f-bomb. Tech support had me reinstall and it seems to work, but I am not sure it's reliable because we're done with this movie. My biggest wish is that it would work without a need to hook up my HP Chromebook to my TV over HDMI, but it's not too bad using a wireless USB mouse as a remote control. This is where VidAngel excels because it plays through Roku. What would be best is if the streaming publishers would incorporate this functionality directly into their platforms. They offer English Descriptive Service and many languages, so why not content filters? Until then, I will be using ClearPlay for family movie time

- (2021-02-25) Quinn Williams: So far it's absolutely useless. Add on says the filter is on and give a list of items to that have been filtered but it has not skipped once and I've heard every single item on the list in 'Hamilton' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. I would say it doesn't work with Disney+ at all. I'll try Amazon next

- (2021-02-04) jason wolden: It was great when it worked. I was able to watch the first Daniel Craig James Bond and it removed all the sex scenes...I thought, Hey this is going to be awesome!! But ever since then, the Chrome Extension has not worked for me. I've tried restarting, clicking around, signing in and out, and so on...nothing. I will end my subscription bc this is just too buggy. I wish it worked and I wish the company was responsive (as you can see in these comments they aren't). Save your money. Pray for another company to rise up.
