Enables high-speed Aspera transfers.
This extension enables the use of IBM Aspera Connect with Chrome. This extension requires the IBM Aspera Connect application, version 3.9.0 or newer.
The purpose of this extension and the corresponding desktop application is to move large files FAST from your computer to an IBM Aspera server.
You need to have an account on an Aspera server to move files.
FASP is the protocol used to move files much faster than is possible over TCP/IP. The application has to be where the network is.

- (2023-05-18) Gabriel Ninô: It works, but it's too much trouble for just downloading a file. I use it only when my clients for some reason use Aspera when more simple alternatives work just as well.

- (2023-01-22) Matteo Curcio: besides the Chernobyl 1986 User Experience, it does not work. Upload keeps failing with cryptic message. It would be a bad joke, yet it's real. I'd like to time machine myself in the meeting room where the CTO announced to the room: "we're going to manage our traffic with ASPERA!"
- (2023-01-17) Cenk Yıldırım: Probably steals your data. I am forced to download this app for freelance work, just to download a file. Which makes no sense. It also wants a desktop client. Uninstall each time after your downloads and scrub for viruses.
- (2022-11-25) Agenda Bronwen: Terrible terrible experience. I have wasted so much time trying to get my browser to detect the extension. This is agonising.
- (2022-11-22) Satyajit B: This is the worst piece of software I have used in my life. What use is high speed transfer when you end up spending 10 hours getting this piece of trash to work
- (2022-11-18) Alan Yeats: Never works as expected. Always has problems and still need an additional download
- (2022-11-16) This sucks. Why do I need a browser extension TO DOWNLOAD A FILE?!
- (2022-11-08) Tyler Smith: Terrible customer experience and UI. Hate how forced to use the extension or cannot download
- (2022-08-17) Neil Connor: Screwed my PC. Worst cloud product ever. IBM deserve to fade into irrelevance with this effort.

- (2022-06-02) Janine M. B. D.: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have opened my inbound and outbound TCP & UDP ports, and have checked using cmd to make sure that they are open, but it keeps saying "Your TCP ports are likely blocked."

- (2022-03-22) Dan Garubba: On Linux, fails to launch and interact with the local client. The console logs: "Could not initialize Connect. Error: Connect 3.9+ was detected but is not responding to extension requests. Check native message host registration."
- (2022-03-22) Fox Henson: Terrible functionality, no fixes or stability improvements
- (2022-03-21) Molly Regan: Total garbage! Does not work with Safari. Have tried installing multiple times with no success.
- (2021-12-05) Chris H: Annoying having to download software to receive transfers
- (2021-11-15) Scores Angela: Profiles cannot be downloaded via this project. The imagine of "Starting the IBM Aspera Connect" displayed on the top of the Chrome, then nothing happened.
- (2021-11-05) Craig Myles: I honestly do not understand any of the negative reviews. I am running Chrome on Ubuntu and have had no issues downloading datasets from The Cancer Imaging Archive. I don't normally leave reviews but I was surprised to see so many 1 star reviews. Works fine.
- (2021-10-29) Ryan Provost: Aspera wants to run all the time. It's not a background application either. Force quit? No dice, it just respawns ... and respawns ... and respawns. We're past the days where something has to be running 100% of the time when you use it 0.001% of the time. Let me quit the app when it's not needed! Also, restating what others have said already, I download multi-gigabyte files in the browser now -- I don't need an archaic app for this. The only reason I have to use this ridiculous app is to appease some CIO's delusional belief that this app is more secure for file sharing than the 1MM other options available today. I use this so infrequently, I'll delete the app to get it to quit and reinstall as needed -- can't believe it's the end of 2021 and I need to say that.

- (2021-09-30) Kajetan Słociński (IrasArgor): Connect was working fine until today when I couldn't connect at all. I'm wasting my time to establish connection but nothing is helping.
- (2021-08-25) Jordan Roberts: This software is beyond awful. Frequently runs my CPU usage up to 99% for God knows why. For such a basic program it should absolutely not use that much of my CPU. When this happens it renders my server practically useless until I can force close (and that's IF I can) all the aspera connects that pop up in my task manager. IT has tried multiple times to fix the issue, but nothing they do seems to fix the problem including updating the software to the latest version and uninstalling to reinstall. IBM please fix this. Aspera is a very key component to my job running smoothly, and if it doesn't work then I can't do my job.
- (2021-08-23) PeterJan van der Vliet: I need to download the aspera extension for files of 500mb+. I have downloaded it. tried too added in to the extensions folder in the safari browser. I get the message again that the extension is missing. I can't select it in the preferences either. Then I tried google chrome, where I run into the same problem. In short, really a shame and badly programmed.
- (2021-08-14) Adioin Sakurai: You guys at IBM are perfect defintion of "big for nothing" .Fix it!
- (2021-07-07) Monica Hinga: As far as I can tell, this does absolutely nothing. After installing the extension and the application, both of which work independently, I still get messages saying that I need to install the application. Even when the application is open and running, no downloads start.

- (2021-04-28) 秦惜伟: Newest version doesn't work when Google Chrome is launched with --user-dir-data argument specified. Please IBM could you fix that?
- (2021-04-21) Hiro: Very fast transfer to IBM Cloud Object Storage
- (2021-03-30) Dušan Brejka: Useless piece of garbage that belongs to 2005. You need to download a 2MB file? Any modern website: Click HERE. Aspera Connect: Sorry mate, first download this extension, then some random unsafe offline app, then it won't work so you need to try firefox and maybe then it will work.... or maybe not
- (2021-03-23) Francesco Mucio: It just doesn't work
- (2021-03-17) Oleksandr Perederii: The most awful extension I have ever seen. It asks to install extension and application, but it never works. I have already spent five hours trying to download the files I need, but no result.
- (2021-01-25) Esen Aliev: Doesn't work! Can't even install connect on my app, can't believe such a huge company like IBM has such a bad software
- (2021-01-19) ЛьОля Васивна: I just don't get it. I followed the instructions, installed the extension, then installed the second part of software on my laptop. But it won't connect. It says "Get the latest version' and then it appears that the version downloaded from pop-up is not the latest. Ok, downloading and installing the latest one. Is it working? Nope. Starting the diagnostics and it won't even bother to finish. Never. Testing ports? Disabled all the time. Troubleshooting tips start with 'If you're using Windows' and ending right there. And if I'm using Ubuntu? No troubleshooting tips? It shouldn't take THAT much time to configure and set a working environment.
- (2021-01-15) Andrej Skurjat: Newest version doesn't work when Google Chrome is launched with --user-dir-data argument specified. Please IBM could you fix that?
- (2020-10-22) Nhã Nd: It say unable to connect either I had reinstall all
- (2020-09-23) Indra K: I must install twice until succeed. every time i upload more than 1 file the next file always error. so i must upload manually one by one. it's completely useless.
- (2020-08-19) jam reid: Getty Images provide this as a must install to download paid/licensed media. How hard can it be? Well, it says to add extension, you click on it, and says "Error not Found". Repeat what appears to be a simple process and you spin your head and repeat the rinse cycle. This is ridiculous when things like WeTransfer, Dropbox or other direct download offerings are out there. This should be dummy proof.
- (2020-08-11) Chad Ajamian: Terrible app. Why do I need an extension to download a 20mb file.
