This extension makes the archived correspondence that Munch had with different persons show up merged and ordered chronologically, so it looks like a normal chat thread. Take for instance the letter that munch exchanged with Tulla Larsen: https://emunch.no/person.xhtml?id=pe285 Without this extension, the letters are grouped in three sections: "From Munch", "To Munch" and "Mentions". This makes it hard to read the correspondence like a normal conversation and forces you to scroll back and forth between each section. Each letter has a sent-date that are parsed and then used for the ordering. Sometimes the date is a bit fuzzy, and in those cases a meaningful fallback value is applied.
