ResponseTime Monitor
Description from store

What can I do with this extension?
Basically this extension shows you the response time of a webserver and draws a nice chart.

What can I do with this information?
You can see how your internet connection performs or how fast your own webserver responds.

What does the chart show?
It shows the last 31 response times. Higher bars mean higher response times. If the request timed out it shows a red bar.

How can I interpret these response times?
If the bars are about the same height it is a sign for a healthy internet connection/server load. If there are red lines and blue lines mixed up or the chart is very volatile your internet connection is unstable or the server is overloaded. If it shows only red something is terribly wrong ...

Why does this need permission to "Your data on all websites"?
To perform checks to a user specific URL it is required that the extension can send requests to 'all websites'.

One of the most useful extensions that I have found. Works for me on Chromebooks and PCs.

It seems to have two major issues: it does not compute average response time for a period of time. The second problem is there is no way to enable and disable this extension, like on/off.

OK on Chromebooks, but not PCs. I was looking for an "Internet is down" detector, and this is the only Chrome app I could find that claims to be able to do that. The response times aren't as important to me as the red or blue colors. It seems to work OK on my Chromebook. But on a Windows 7 PC and a Windows 8.1 PC, it stays blue even when the Internet is down (outage in the area, etc.). Even if I disable my network card, it still stays blue! Any suggestions for getting it to work properly on my PCs? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Thanks!

Minimal, simple, useful, excellent. Best tool I've used so far to get to know how my internet is doing.

Does what it says by timing how long a XMLHttpRequest takes.

Great, I looked for internet connection monitoring software for awhile before I decided to check Chrome extensions and found this. Two requests: ability to output to a log file (or better yet a cool graph, maybe excel based?), and an option to set popup notifications after X consecutive timeouts (ie an indication that my connection is definitely down).
