Automatically lookup book reading levels as you browse, making it easy for parents & teachers to find books for young readers
ABOUT "READ UP"
Read Up makes it fast, easy, and free for parents and teachers to find books that match a young reader's reading level. As you browse book web pages, Read Up automatically looks up reading level data and displays that data directly on the web page you're viewing -- saving you a LOT of clicks.
Whether you're a parent looking for books for your child, or a teacher selecting for books for your students, Read Up will make that process WAY more efficient.
SUPPORTED READING LEVEL SYSTEMS
Read Up currently displays the three major reading level systems and quiz points values, as well as the grade level equivalent, the book's word count (not page count, which can be deceiving with children's books!), and more. We welcome your suggestions on other information that you use in your classroom or family to determine whether a book is a good fit for your kids. (Visit our website for more information about how reading levels are researched and calculated.)
SUPPORTED WEBSITES
We currently support the most common websites where parents and teachers shop and research books. If there are other websites where you frequently browse books, we welcome your suggestions!

- (2021-09-08) Gillian Kerby Hunter: This extension was great for the first year I used it but now it won't work at all. I've followed all the directions to stop it from continually loading to no avail.
- (2021-08-21) Tanisha Sutton: I was really excited to use this resource because another popular website has a very limited catalog even though it is free for users. I took a while for the extension to begin working on amazon, so I decided to try another site. In no time, it was up and running successfully. I was happy because I was able to label about 4 titles that I was unable to find previously. However, I came across leveling information that was obviously inaccurate for one of the titles in my collection. The book title is "I'm A Leprechaun" by Mallory C Loehr. The Read Up information labeled it as having a Guided Reading FP of U! This book is for preschoolers and there is no way that a book with its characteristics can have such a high guided reading level; especially with using the Fountas and Pinnell system. I was disappointed because it made me questions the results I received for the four previous titles that I was able to level on using the app. Overall, if the information can't be trusted, it becomes less convenient and helpful than what it's advertised as being.

- (2019-11-14) Chenoa: Was not even opening the right way, not very useful aswell.
- (2019-07-24) Kristie Pequette: Love being able to see book reading levels for my kids as I browse various sites. Very helpful information including interest level, word count, genre, and whether it is part of a series!
- (2019-03-15) Elise Ferguson: Perfect for grade schoolers working on AR points. My 2nd grader reads like crazy but unless he gets the book from the school library we aren't sure what level or points are associated with the books we have at home.
- (2019-03-14) Martine Kline: This is saving me SO much time! I can open up 20 book links from a booklist, and with ZERO additional clicks I can tell which books are the right level for my kid. Paired with the Library Extension (to quickly request books from the library) I am in homeschooling mom heaven.
