Keyboard Extension for Chrome OS. Use German Umlauts on US Keyboard. For example: alt + a = ä, alt + U = Ü etc.
Base Language is German, means that you need to have German enabled under your Chrome OS Languages and input method settings in order to choose the German Umlauts keyboard layout.
Base Keyboard Layout is US, means that it will work with every Chromebook shipped with US Keyboard like the Pixelbook sold in the US.
