**This is the official Site Blocker extension with long term support. Beware of copies! Do not pay attention to the fake 1 star reviews on this page - an organized group of bad actors copied this extension and added their own malicious content to it. The extension had 50,000 users before I discovered it and reported it to Google. After the evil clone extension was removed from the chrome web store, the bad actors retaliated and spammed this extension with fake 1 star reviews. For proof, all fake reviews are posted after 11/16/20.**
Site Blocker is designed to be the "be all, end all" of site blockers for Chrome. Site Blocker allows users to completely block websites as well as specific parts of websites. Blocking a website with Site Blocker will block it everywhere (blocking facebook.com will block facebook embeds - works the same with reddit, twitter, youtube, etc.) and blocking specific patterns/keywords is also possible (users can block every website with the name "Paul" in its URL, etc.).

Four words. I LOVE THIS EXTENSION. This extension is SOOOOOO good. It blocks all the sites you blacklist, it can disable the root of anything, it can do redirect URLs and SO many more features. I wish I get to meet this guy irl and shake his hand.

This is malware
No Coolnewtab adware, no yahoo search, and perfect results on virustotal. The only reason why I'm not marking the 1 star reviews as spam is because they could be legitimate comments about the evil twin.

I don't really know the situation exactly, but Kyler this is a great extension. Keep it up. But, to anyone that downloaded the clone extension copy. You can try this: Delete the original extension. Go to Chrome Settings Click Advanced, then click Reset and Clean up. Then, Restore settings to their original defaults Then download this extension instead. That worked for me. But, you should do your own research if that's not the problem. I recommend searching, "How to delete cool new tab theme redirect from chrome" Otherwise this a phenomenal extension and I highly recommend it.
Do no use this extension. It is malware. After some time it will start redirecting traffic on your computer and your search engine will be changed to yahoo.DO NOT ADD TO CHROME
DO NOT DOWNLOAD The core extension is fine, and nice to work with. The problem is that 1-2 weeks after downloading, this extension reroutes all searches to the malicious "cool new tab theme" website, and gives you yahoo search results. The developer has replied to coments claiming that someone else has hijacked this extension. Whether or not that is true, AVOID THIS EXTENSION!

Like Alexandru Mircea said, it uses an obnoxious adware that turned my Google searchs into a Yahoo search and it appeared about a week after installation.
GAVE ME MALWARE - "Coolnewtabs" or something like that. SO ANGRY. i've had this installed for a long time... i wonder what else it's been doing... smh.
It installed the "Cool New Tab Theme" adware on my browser. It made my chrome crash and change my google search engine to yahoo. YUCK!
Do not download this extention! It installs malware which makes your chrome get redirected to yahoo as search engine whenever you look something up on google.
It installed the "Cool New Tab Theme" adware on my browser (both Chrome and Chromium were affected). The moment I uninstalled this extension, the symptoms of the adware disappeared instantly. The adware's symptoms appeared almost one week after installing the extension — they probably do that to make it difficult to track the adware to the app. Shame!

Tried all the options available in Google Chrome extensions and this one is the only one that had no major downsides and worked with all websites I wanted to block ( there was one specific website that for some reason could not be blocked in most of the other extensions, had to use hosts file). The only downside I could think of was the fact that it doesn't have Export/Import. But. The developer is quick to respond and told me that after the holidays he will add the options, so that should be perfect.
