Zotero is a free, easy-to-use, open-source tool to help you collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research.
The Zotero Connector automatically senses content as you browse the web and allows you to save items to Zotero with a single click. If a PDF is available, the Connector can save it to your library to read later, and it can even save snapshots of webpages in case they change or disappear. Whether you're searching for a preprint on arXiv.org, a journal article from JSTOR, a news story from the New York Times, or a book from your university library catalog, Zotero has you covered with support for thousands of sites.
Additionally, if you use a web-based proxy to access resources your institution subscribes to, the Zotero Connector can automatically redirect you through the proxy when you follow links to those sites from elsewhere on the web, making sure that you always have access to PDFs and other gated content.
While the Connector can save most pages directly to your zotero.org account, for the full Zotero experience be sure to install the Zotero desktop app, which allows you to organize your references efficiently, insert citations automatically into Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs, and much more. You can download Zotero for free from https://www.zotero.org/download
We are happy to help with any issues you encounter with the Zotero Connector, but we cannot do so through the Chrome Web Store. For bug reports, questions, comments, or help, please visit https://www.zotero.org/support/getting_help

- (2025-07-06) Ar: This extension has memory leak, and can't be configured to access only specific sites.
- (2025-07-05) Arpit Gupta: Please add a feature to stop action (toolbar) icon from changing based on the content type. Let it the static Z icon. Thanks
- (2025-06-29) Lisa Ahner: I have spent more time trying to get Zotero to work as I have actually writing my paper, probably 4+ hours total today. I've watched YouTube videos, restarted the computer twice, uninstalled and reinstalled Zotero, redownloaded Connector again and again, Quit Zotero and reopened it, enabled cookies. And then the internet went out for a while. Zotero will insert a citation about 1 of every 5+ times I try it. No idea why it won't work the other 4 to 10 times I try it. I'm getting ready to delete the whole thing and try another citation app!

- (2025-04-01) Janka: I absolutely love new version 7 of Zotero with all those colours, notes, smart citation suggestions and everything. Thank you all for your precise work!!! I am your very fan! My connector works perfectly both for Chrome and for Brave, no bugs.
- (2025-03-23) Edgar Guevara: Objectively the best reference manager out there due to three key factors: a) it's free, b) extremely user-friendly and, c) it gives you liberty to choose your storage space. To get additional storage, you can either support the project via subscription or you can use the WebDAV server of your choice.
- (2025-02-24) Shawn Hacker: Excellent tool for academic writing
- (2025-02-20) Jamie Martin: Zotero and the Connector made it possible for me to finish my PhD. I can't imagine doing academic writing without them.
- (2025-02-19) Jayamini D Samarathunge: This works for me for my research work. Better experience compared to Mendeley.
- (2025-02-18) 李明: do not work on scholar-google with Chrome
- (2025-02-16) nelsonconsole: Very helpful in my research.
- (2025-01-25) madison preuett: Chrome extension only works sometimes.
- (2025-01-23) Mark Lynd: Once added to toolbar, clicking "Zotero Connector" just takes me to the "Download Zotero Connector" page. So...doesn't work :(
- (2025-01-17) Martin Ische: The Zotero app is great, the Chrome plugin (Mac) is unfortunately limited. 1. Please switch off the initial messages in the Chrome console, this is simply extremely annoying if you need the console for debugging 2. Please make sure to offer the possibility to open Zotero after clicking on the icon, other providers can do that too, for example Obsidian. I just don't want Zotero to be permanently open 3. Capturing the snapshot takes too long, the competition can do it much faster
- (2025-01-03) Andre: Awful. Chrome extension is nonfunctional. I have tried closing and reopening everything, restarting device, etc. I have had issues with Zotero from day one. Would NOT recommend. Abysmal application. Completely unable to integrate with Google docs. A waste of my time.
- (2024-12-16) Nte Sunday: Nice app for researchers
- (2024-12-11) Amir Faysal: Amazing, saved a ton of time, great efficient... mind-blowing
- (2024-12-11) Changfeng Chen: It's easy to use of course. One feature request here: can you allow us to not add certain page to zotero? Sometimes it's easy to mis-click on the plugin icon on other pages, but there's no option to delete that entry other than in the app. Add one button to not add to zotero would be very nice!
- (2024-11-19) Amy Hovemann: This was fantastic until it just stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and the extension just no longer works mid way through a paper.
- (2024-11-19) Luke Beattie: Fantastic chrome tool that allows you to add files and references to the Zotero desktop app.
- (2024-11-18) Zoe Connor: Doesn't seem to be working!

- (2024-11-04) Kian: A stupid useless program! for a simple option you need to write code!
- (2024-11-03) Seyyed Aqil Hoseiny: Best of All
- (2024-10-17) alireza loghmani: Introduction Heatstroke is a life-threatening condition characterized by hyperthermia and systemic inflammation, leading to organ dysfunction. It results from prolonged exposure to high temperatures and can cause serious complications such as heat-induced inflammatory responses, oxidative stress, and tissue damage. While rapid cooling and supportive therapies are the standard treatment for heatstroke, the need for effective pharmacological interventions to mitigate inflammation and prevent organ failure remains critical. Exploring novel therapies targeting the inflammatory cascade in heatstroke has garnered considerable attention in recent years. Nanotechnology offers promising avenues for developing targeted therapeutic approaches in various medical conditions, including inflammatory diseases. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have emerged as a highly versatile and biocompatible nanocarrier due to their tunable size, surface functionality, and ability to deliver bioactive molecules directly to affected tissues. Recent studies have demonstrated the potential of GNPs in mitigating inflammation and oxidative stress in various pathological conditions. Among potential therapeutic agents, betaine—a naturally occurring compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties—has shown promise in reducing inflammatory responses and protecting against tissue damage. This study aims to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of gold nanoparticle carriers conjugated with betaine in a mouse heatstroke model. By combining the unique properties of GNPs with the known therapeutic benefits of betaine, this research seeks to provide insights into the efficacy of nanoparticle-based interventions in mitigating heatstroke-induced inflammation and oxidative damage. Background Heatstroke and Inflammation Heatstroke occurs when the body's core temperature rises above 40°C (104°F), resulting in hyperthermia and systemic inflammation. The condition is associated with the excessive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), which contribute to cellular damage and organ dysfunction. Studies have shown that oxidative stress plays a significant role in amplifying the inflammatory response during heatstroke, leading to increased cell death and tissue injury in organs such as the liver, kidneys, and brain.
- (2024-10-15) John Tsiamantas: Best Citation Manager by far!
- (2024-10-11) Julia K: I use it daily in my studies in either Google Chrome or Opera (that needs an extension that allows Google extensions).
- (2024-10-04) Wanda Criswell: Zotero is really difficult to use, the UI is very complicated and not at all intuitive.
- (2024-08-30) Ashlia Toles: Zotero links broken randomly which is horrible when you are typing a research paper that has a lot of citations.
- (2024-08-28) Kevin Patel: Excellent, works nice and smoothly with Zotero. Highly recommended to all researchers!!!!!!!!!! 5 Star
- (2024-08-27) Dany Martinez: It used to work perfectly, but the latest release does not pick book metadata from Amazon books...I cant wait for a fix...
- (2024-08-16) Linda Raharjo: Excellent and software for free ... make me easier to do my thesis, thanks

- (2024-08-02) Inthira Tussakhon: Good for me so much Thanks
- (2024-08-01) Jugendra Singh: great working and helpful
- (2024-07-17) Tanya Ramdin: Hello is there a guideline how to add Zotero to word for referencing?
- (2024-07-14) Jewels Fa: I am facing a problem to get Zotero on my word document bar, please do you know how to solve this problem? Thank you for your cooperation and consistency.
- (2024-07-09) Demeke Mebratu: Really includable !!
- (2024-07-05) Timothy Trudgen: This extension is excellent. Easiest way to collect references. The parent software Zotero is required to be installed and open to use it, which may bring confusion to some. But Zotero's installation process is easy. The software is freeware and open source and not everyone is paying for it so improvements in the software is slow, but the extension has been long term reliable and works on nearly every journal data base.
- (2024-07-03) Temple Maduoma: This software is okay and manages to serve its purpose. It make my work easier (Or Not). Here is the challenge. The software works almost perfect with MS Word but it is a bit of a hassle when I work on Google Docs. I have to navigate manually from Zotero and the Google document i am working on before functions of my commands are executed. I strongly believe that there is a serious need for improvement to this regard.
