Description from store IMDb Movie Rating Lookup is an extension to quickly lookup ratings of movies and TV-series on IMDb. Simply select the text of the title you want to lookup and immediately see the rating as a badge on the extension logo. Go to the IMDb page by clicking on the icon. --FEATURES-- * Select only a small portion of a movie title and lookup the IMDb rating immediately in the badge text * -NEW- Right click movie description on Netflix when hovering the image to look up rating. Badge and context menu are updated correctly * Search title/link on IMDb directly using the context menu when right clicking * -NEW- Support for keyboard shortcuts * Fast and minimalistic --CHANGELOG-- -0.4.1- * Improved search of TV series to also support S01 apart from S01E01 * Deactivated fallback search (search only selected text when intelligent title parsing fails) by default due to unreliable ratings * Added options to activate the fallback search for users still wanting that * Added option to open results in same tab --NOTES-- * This extension is open source, https://github.com/windmark/movie-ratings-extension. Feel free to contribute! * This extension uses the OMDb API (http://www.omdbapi.com/), which sometimes returns incorrect results. I'm contacting that development team whenever I find inconsistencies, and I encourage you to contact me if you find any. * Credit for the icon goes to https://www.iconfinder.com/paomedia * This extension is not affiliated with, maintained, authorised, endorsed or sponsored by the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) or any of its affiliates.

  • (2020-09-15) Bergg Uscha: does not work in vivaldi (chrome based). have not tested in chrome, but shouldn't matter. good idea though. one point to improvement: the rating available upon marking the text would imply the extension working overtime. why not activate it selectively?

  • (2019-10-01) Mokhtar Mousa: The Idea of this extension is great. I would give it a 5 if the developer built on the idea a little bit. I would enhance this tool by having -instead of a simple rating- a mini popup bubble coming out with the movie poster, rating and move genre. A synopsis wouldn't hurt while your at it. The context menu option is also great. For this, I have the following ideas: - Giving an option to open a tab without automatically switching to it. Using ctrl key can give this option. - Copying the highlighted text to clipboard before when clicking the context menu. This can be an option from the extension options. - Giving the search result with text in IMDB search box Marcus Windmark, thanks of the great plugin. keep it up!
  • (2019-02-20) خالد المصرى: the "auto-rating" icon of the extension is not always working , but at least i can search directly from highlighted text. thank you dear developer :) .

  • (2018-01-31) Goog Man: I've had this extension for a few weeks now, and it works quite well. I'd say the toolbar-icon number is accurate about 95% of the time. Occasionally, I've found a (usually only slightly) different rating on the actual IMDb page, and while these discrepancies do turn out to be infrequent, I always feel the need to check a title's page for verification. (Fortunately, Mr. Windmark has made that only a click away!) Overall, I'm very glad to have this extension, and I use it all the time. One small suggestion: That IMDb page clicking the inactive toolbar icon opens has a box that says "Enter a word or phrase to search on", but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually enter text into it; of course, even if that box did work, the search box already built into the site's header renders it rather redundant. Why not have the inactive-icon click lead to IMDb's home page? It has a perfectly good search box in the header plus all kinds of other dynamic info.
  • (2017-05-13) Daan Celie: I've used this extension for about a year, but I had to remove it because for some reason Google Search started to prompt captcha's for everyone that was using the same public IP address as I was. At first I didn't know this was caused by this extension but on my first day of my internship at a big company, everyone started to receive the captcha's, something which had never happened before. As soon as I removed the extension, I've never received a Google captcha again.
