Watch videos on YouTube fullscreen within your browsers screen.

Description from store
A simple and lightweight extension that adds an icon which allows the YouTube video player to fill the entire page, as a full browser player.
Note: I'd requested notification permissions to be able to show a little popup when I add new features in an update but have decided to remove this in 4.9.
Other New/Updated Features (Premium required for some features, $12 AUD for Lifetime access):
- Adds button to player for windowed fullscreen + configurable hotkey (FREE)
- Auto-toggle windowed fullscreen (Premium)
- Allow scrolling while windowed fullscreen mode (Premium)
- Miniplayer while scrolling (Premium)
- Picture-in-Picture Shortcut (Premium)
- Hide Youtube Miniplayer Button (Premium)
- Always Show Search Bar during windowed fullscreen mode (FREE)
- Show video title during windowed fullscreen mode (FREE)
NOTE: PLEASE RESTART CHROME OR REFRESH YOUTUBE IF IT DOESNT WORK AFTER INSTALLING.
Configure options by either clicking the icon in your browser, or head to chrome://extensions and click on Details for Youtube Windowed FullScreen and click the "Extension Options".
Please note some Shortcut Keys may not work correctly as YouTube, or your system may block them. Most keys should work if they are not reserved.
While in fullscreen mode, mouse over where the search bar usually is for it to appear; it will also appear while scrolling.
Change Log:
V 4.11
- Add 'Hide Miniplayer Button' setting to hide miniplayer button on youtube player
V 4.9
- Remove notification permission
V 4.8
- Add new setting for hiding scrollbar while in scrollable fullscreen to squeeze that extra bit of real estate out of the page
- Add new setting for hiding 'Includes paid promotion' overlay button for thumbnails on the subscription page for people like me that middle click videos often but then end up in a google support page! (This removes the little indicator that youtube adds to thumbnails to indicate a video has sponsorships. This is not something the extension adds just to get you to pay to remove or anything!)
V 4.7
- Shifted from yearly subscription to one time payment. Please rest assured anyone that had previously subscribed has been automatically migrated to lifetime access and any renewal/subscription has been cancelled.
- Updated algorithim for consistent auto-toggling and button rendering
We're Moving to a Freemium Model:
Sign up won't take any credit card or anything like that; A one time payment of $12 AUD grants you premium access for life for the feature mentioned above that require premium

- (2025-05-04) Desmond Lau: This has been amazing for me but recently it has stopped working. The button disappeared, the hotkey don't work. This continues to be the issue even after i got the 1 day free trial. I'll be more than happy to pay the $12 lifetime subscription once it works. It seems that the problem coincidence with the freemium model transition, roughly a month ago. p/s - the incredible annoyance I have with watching youtube now is a testimonial to what a great extension this has been. 5-stars what it has done for me and hope it will continue to do for me.
- (2025-03-23) Mike Carr: I'll eat a bag of big ones before I pay for a glorified CSS edit Word to the wise, there are free and less bloated solutions that don't paywall things like scrolling lol Edit: I appreciate the response, but your payment model is really silly. I'm hugely pro-donationware and not at all upset about the price. But the blunt truth is that you turned some of the free features into paid features requiring a login lol There are other free options that are just as reliable, sorry. You're right that one star was unfair, I have adjusted it to three as I did use it for months as a free user.
- (2025-03-20) Olavi Varis: Monetization features have begun to creep in and thus enshittification is in full steam, including paid promotion overlays and locking previously free features behind a paywall - the extension also just started to require permissions for notifications, which are DEFINITELY NOT REQUIRED for the core functionality. Uninstalling right now.
- (2025-03-14) Stan: Wants money for it to work. Don't pay. It encourages grifters.
- (2025-02-01) Tyler Thomas: I like to use this extension occasionally and not all the time. For some reason, it now seems to be auto full-screening every video I click on regardless of whether or not I want that. I don't see any obvious setting to stop this from happening. If there even is one, it shouldn't be as hidden as it is. If there isn't one, thats even worse. Regardless, there are other apps that give the same functionality without the boneheaded design. Simply switching to one of those
- (2025-01-15) Innes MacKenzie: Works great so far.
- (2025-01-13) Jacky Li: The button doesn’t always appear, and you constantly have to reload the page just to get it to show up. It’s beyond annoying. What’s even worse is that the auto-fullscreen feature no longer works. It used to function perfectly, but now it’s locked behind a paywall. Charging for what was once a basic feature is absolutely unreasonable. If the extension worked as intended, I’m sure many users, including myself, would have been happy to donate. But forcing an annual subscription just to restore basic functionality is unacceptable. --- Update: I uninstalled this extension from Chrome and replaced it with the "YouTube Fullscreen Mode" script from GreasyFork. It works way better, gets fast updates, and is completely open-source and free.
- (2024-12-17) Ricky Diess: was a very solid extension before they added premium, not only did they put auto fullscreen behind a paywall, they made the app much less reliable (wont even load sometimes). The only reason I was using this in the first place was because tampermonkey couldnt auto sync scripts across devices meaning id have to manually install the script (that essentially does what this extension does for free) on every device. Now that this is the less convenient option of the two, looks like im going to be switching back.
- (2024-12-07) Crow With Rights: it's pretty useful but does have alot of issues, like having to adjust permissions constantly and reloading youtube to get it to work, rating it 2 stars because when it does work it's very usefull.
- (2024-12-06) Séamus Ó Donnghaile: Works; fine freemium model for my needs - sign up is misleading, but it's totally optional and not required for the extension to function... unless you want the premium features. I would suggest the developer move to a donation based approach and open a buymeacoffee or kofi allowing folk to buy a lifetime model rather than try and make a subscription, especially with how anti-subscription folk are becoming nowadays. I understand that they are in an economic difficulty at the moment, but if you drive away everyone then you won't even have a userbase to get funding from.
- (2024-12-01) LazyPCRehab: Asking people to pay for something that doesn't work.
- (2024-11-14) SANJST: Doesn't work - still have windowed "full screen"
- (2024-11-11) Michał Imiołek: dev is moving established features behind a paywall. it's about time to find a new one
- (2024-11-11) Sigma Flame: New version, old free function now behind a paywall, new bug that always needs a page refresh to see the button. Downgrade to get the old version in order retrieve the old extension that was perfect! Don't pay the new version that is fully bugged! 0-stars
- (2024-11-09) adarsh b: asking for premium
- (2024-10-26) Kaylan Wade: Premium? Time to find a replacement
- (2024-10-18) Rasmus Schultz: Seems to require a login now? although payment appears to be optional, I don't want to sign up for anything. This extension does the same thing, so I use that now: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/youtube-inline-fullscreen/mfpkbigjnlcgngkdbmnchfnenfmibkig
- (2024-10-16) Anthony Conley: The "Auto-toggle windowed fullscreen" is not a new feature, it's been in this extension as long as I've used it. The developer has just moved it behind a payment.
- (2024-10-10) Spike VanHellsing: Absolutely love this extension, but when in windowed fill screen how do i stop pressing t from making my screen go blank and making the search show if i move my mouse around?
- (2024-10-05) QinX: Recent update moved functions behind a paywall. I understand development takes times, but put new features behind a paywall not already existing ones. Specifically auto fullscreen is now a premium feature.
- (2024-10-03) Ian Genelly: Worked exactly as needed for a long time, but now opens an advertisement for the paid version each time I open chrome. Not worth keeping around :( edit: +1 star, glad the dev is working on it. I've moved to a macro on my kb that appends the "watch =?" URL with "watch_popup?=v" and am back to 0 extensions.
- (2024-10-03) Kiinako P: Does what it does without any big fuss, but if the popups will not stop I'll have to look for a different one
- (2024-10-03) Muhammed Durra: I personally liked this extension coz it was exactly what I need :) the only feature I miss in the new pricing model is the auto-toggle which I started to not use recently :) I also liked that the search bar appears when you hover on its location, I dont know if this is a new thing or already there :D yet I wonder if the new pricing model will save you from what you lost. I hope you get a better job and consider pricing also the price is not clarified before logging to the billing site
- (2024-10-02) Lachlan Knox: Genuinely enjoy using this extension, the display is a step up from theater mode and the new scrolling feature means one less button I have to press to like a video or read comments. For $5 a year (which you can cancel the auto-renew) aslong as it's updated with YouTube UI changes I will be happy!
- (2024-10-01) Louie Riños: You have to manually activate the windowed fullscreen functionality without a subscription.
- (2024-10-01) Milan Jansen: This extension now loads React and a whole Firebase SDK with associated network calls to do what amounts to a tiny UI tweak. The developer is welcome to try and earn money for this tweak but it's not gonna work out. I'm staying on 4.2
- (2024-10-01) Eric Karnes: Putting previously available features behind a paywall, this extension is now just spam. DON'T INSTALL
- (2024-10-01) Tanja Sørensen: Have to say I did love it before but not anymore after the change to premium version. Specially since there is no information anywhere about prices, any information about privacy, gppr info, any guidance in withdrawing personal info etc specially now where the developer is a trader since the developer wants to sell the extension And then also that the developer has stated to google that the person is not a trader even that the person clearly are And I totally understand the reason for changing, but when everything then is disregarded the same time then nope so unfortunately going to file reports to google about those clear violations
- (2024-10-01) Joshua Wood: Premium?! Lol and for that reason, I'm out
- (2024-10-01) Blackman Whitesuit: it's a good extension, but really? a premium service for one feature is pretty wild and the continuous pop-ups to sign in really breaks the seamlessness of the ext. This was a workaround for me, and I have alternatives so I'll just uninstall.
- (2024-10-01) Azamat Kadyrbekov: Was good before this premium staff
- (2024-09-21) Shawn Kanyer: The icon does not always load, but the shortcut still works. The icon will appear once the shortcut is used. Thanks for the extension.
- (2024-09-09) Jugal Shah: Works very well, thank you!!! I'm able to resize the window properly and everything. Also works great with Fancy Zones on Windows.
- (2024-09-07) Sir Shmoopy: Works exactly as advertised, even on Opera Browser GX! No complaints here! Thank you for making it!
- (2024-08-29) Nafi Sadman Khan: Opens a pop up page after installation which is distracting - specially if you have log in / out a lot
- (2024-08-10) Kivarnis Rilencea: This works fantastically after finding a conflicting addon and disabling it, not sure why this suddenly happened as they have coexisted for years, but this is far more important and is required for me. Old: This no longer works correctly and the 4.2 update hasn't changed this. This worked fine up until recently but now it acts like theater mode without scrolling and some elements overlap onto the video etc. This was a 5 star requirement up until this occurred, hope this can be resolved and Youtube hasn't broken this addon's ability to ever function. Edit: I further investigated this for your comment below. Better YouTube Theater Mode was the culprit of the issues, disabling it resolves it at the cost of it's features. This wasn't a issue before, but it could just as easily be them.
- (2024-07-31) mohammad jihad: there is a problem with theater mode on live videos or priemers ( pressing t when in full mode and pressing full mode when in theater) it just goes black until you turn one off. other than that everything has been perfect for a couple years. thx a lot
- (2024-07-31) ANIRUDDHA GARAI: this is what i was looking for many days, i works shamelessly great lool
- (2024-07-29) Trevor Burch: UPDATE: The 4.2 version fixed this issue :) Brings this back up to a 5 star extension. Thanks for the look and quick turnaround! :) ORIGINAL: I have used this extension for a while now and have not had any issues. However, after the recent updates for YouTube's layout changes the extension now appears to not fully handle very small windows. I use an ultrawide monitor and often have my YouTube window small in the corner and this extension has allowed this to work flawlessly. However, it appears there is now a minimum size that the extension supports that was not previously there and the video and controls now flow off the screen with no scroll available. I recognize that this is a niche use case - but it is disappointing after I have used the extension for a long time without this issue.
- (2024-07-18) Christian Albao: Update: The Dev is so responsive in Email and was able to fix the Bug Immediately! Thanks for this wonderful Extension!

- (2024-07-16) Jean Rioux: I'm using this extension on the Brave browser and it's been working perfectly until recently. Now when toggling to full screen, it doesn't actually expand to fit the window and will basically expand to theater mode, but will not allow you to scroll. I used to use this extension so I could have Youtube on a quarter of my screen, which worked perfectly until recently. Now this extension doesn't seem to work at all. I'll update this review if this get's patched.
- (2024-07-15) Brandon Smith: Great extension, really appreciate it. Some bugs I've noticed if it helps with development: - if you enter fullscreen and then exit fullscreen the 'fullscreen windowed' button disappears. - while in 'fullscreen windowed' mode, the button and shortcut ('t') to toggle between 'theater' mode and 'standard' mode are buggy or not visible - issues seem to be incompatibility with using the built in theatre mode and the extensions full screen windowed mode Still incredibly usable and helpful. Just cant toggle between theater and fullscreen windowed.
- (2024-07-12) Philip Braunen: It's a great extension that unfortunately still seems a bit broken after YT's recent layout update. While the video does still enter windowed fullscreen, the timeline and controls don't span the full width if the video was in theater mode. Good to see the dev being responsive to other comments though.
- (2024-06-28) Michal Hajdo: Fantastic extension, but has just stopped working!
- (2024-06-24) Saulo V: Best extension ever. But has been failing lately.
- (2024-06-20) jeezlouis: Thanks this is amazing
- (2024-06-19) Liam: does it not work anymore?
- (2024-06-07) Q II: I like this extension, but is it possible for you generalize this extension to work with videos on other sites to? If not videos from other sources, maybe embedded YouTube videos on other sites like Patreon?
- (2024-05-12) BurgeonedGrim: so simple but so good.
