Search all groups you subscribe to on Freecycle

Image from store Freecycle Searcher
Description from store Freecycle is an awesome way to get rid of get lots of stuff for free. The way it works is local folks advertise stuff they want or stuff they have to offer and other local folks get in contact. People get rid of clutter, other people get stuff they need, everyone is happy. The problem is that the sever only allows searches through individual freecycle groups one at a time. This works fine if the local group covers a massive area. But other times many groups are easily within drivable distance of freecyclers and searching through all these groups one at a time for stuff you want can be annoying. Using this you simply go to your groups home page (http://my.freecycle.org/home/groups) and a new search box will appear. This search box lets you search the "offers" of all freecycle groups which you are signed up to. It is a simple little thing that took no time to write, I'm happy to change bits if it gets popular Also I want to make it clear I'm not affiliated with freecycle, I'm just a user.

  • (2015-12-01) Martin Taylor: Does not work on Chrome Version 46.0.2490.86 (64-bit) on Macbook Pro. There is no extra search button. In fact it doesn't seem to have any effect at all.
  • (2014-07-14) Jack Humphrey: Great Idea but doesn't work with latest version of Chrome (on a Samsung Chromebook). I have the same problem as James Stevens.
  • (2014-05-30) Jim Stevens: Great idea, although this doesn't seem to be working with the latest version of Chrome. When I search for an item, the box displays a list of all groups I am subscribed to -- with no results. I have tried to search terms that I know exist within the posts with no results. Even entering gibberish in the search box yields the same list of groups I am subscribed to. I have a screen shot if you'd like to see it. I would be grateful if you could have a look. Thanks!
