I love that I can annotate an email with exactly the note that I need for this exact email. Most of the times it is a little hint for "saved for later" emails, what needs to be done, what should have happened when the email pops up again. Love this little gem of an add on!

Make notes to indicate your next task, to summarize the status of a long involved email conversation, and for me the best advantage is to remind yourself on the day an email pops back into your Inbox as to why you Snoozed it. For example, progress is on hold until someone else completes the next step -- make a note about that using SGN and then use the Gmail Snooze feature to take it out of your Inbox until the date you wish to check on the status of things again. Useful options and features, really good job. Totally worth paying the modest annual cost to support this extension. Contrary to some of the negative reviews I've read here, I find the developer to be a reliable communicator when changes made by Google to the API affect the functioning of the extension -- it seems some people just don't read their emails. And the fix is made very quickly. Any time I've had to write to the developer with a question or problem, I get a reasonably prompt and informative response.

• (2023-10-06) Sheryl and Libby Decker: It's about time someone developed an app to add-on to gmail for taking notes. Google's Keep Notes is an excellent app but it does attach a quick note to an actual email directly. This does! It's not perfect and you have to pay for more features, but as this is only for personal use it works just fine. Note: If you want to sync notes between gmail on you computer and on the mobile app, use the add-on for gmail rather than the add-on for chrome. Check out the Simple Notes web site to make sure you get the right one(s) for your needs. Don't hesitate to ask their customer support questions. They're awesome!!! P.S. It doesn't cost too much for the extra features.

• (2023-03-01) Dana Peake: This is a cool addon. I use it to show notes in the subject line of email updates for shipments. I can also leave a note for something to followup on at a later time - color code that. Very useful. Occasionally after an update it glitches and it's not there. Have to close gmail and reopen. The fact that I get concerned that it's not there shows how dependent I am on it. Nice job.
