A mode to keep you focused at work !

Image from store Focus Mode
Description from store Focus Mode helps you stay focused when you work with your computer. The idea is simple, when you work or study using your computer, there are so much distractions available on the internet that you easily loose your focus! So to help you preventing your future productivity decreasing, you just have to activate the Focus Mode! Functionalities (when activated): - Block a predefined list of distracting websites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram…) - Block a customizable list of distracting websites of your choice - Quick Add/Remove action on each website (with checkboxes) This extension has been done in a couple of days from an idea I had when I saw my girlfriend on Facebook instead of studying. It is open source under GPLv3 and you can find the source code on Github (Focus-Mode). If you experience any issue with it, feel free to report it, I'll try to correct it as soon as possible.

  • (2021-02-23) nanoblit: I was looking for a simple extension that blocks distracting websites whenever I try to visit them. This is perfect. I don't need all these advanced extensions that give me specific hours to use a website and other shiny features. I'm not an animal that absolutely can't control itself. I just want a simple nudge not to waste my time, and if I absolutely need to go to Reddit I just want to go into settings and uncheck "Reddit.com". This extension does exactly that. it's simple and to the point!

  • (2021-01-06) rodri: Its awesome, its very simple to use and efficient, I entered yt, reddit, twitter, etc. constanly without even realizing and loosing a lot of time. Now I can focus more on my studies!
  • (2021-01-06) Yvonne V: Absolutely Love it! It has helped me so much to stay in focus! Thank you
  • (2020-12-05) Jamin Hu: Does exactly what it needs to do: - Block sites you tell it to block - Be free open source Doesn't do what it doesn't need to do: - Ask for unnecessary permissions - Setting of timers Superb.
  • (2020-11-24) Ali Kemal SARUHAN: very good brother! Can you add a feature so users can add their own custom image? /instead of "return to work"
  • (2020-10-15) Shaun Looi: Easy, simple and gets the job done.
  • (2020-10-08) Dániel Papp: Great! One advice: It would be nice to have a "block this site" option right after I click the extension button in the right corner! Cheers!
  • (2020-10-04) Daniel Kaspo: Absolutely the best Chrome site-blocking extension that exists and here's why: Every other Chrome extension out there requests the permission "Can change ALL website data you visit" which is a huge security risk - someone could easily steal credentials or worse using their extension (especially if it's closed source) But this extension? THIS EXTENSION DOESN'T NEED THAT! 😄 This extension asks for a modest "View browsing history" permission - which could still be abused but with much less risk compared to the others. It's a quick, snappy extension and I'm so happy I found it!
  • (2020-09-09) Robin Rad: I'd love to have an opera version! This is so cool!
  • (2020-09-07) Johannes van der Merwe: Great app. It helps you start with positive habits, however I wish there was an option to enable a password or some form of second security. I keep subconsciously turning off the app and don't realize it until I am in the apps I try so desperately to avoid. Yes it is more of a problem on my part, but it would make things a bit easier for some of us.
  • (2020-08-19) Nazmul Ahmed: Saved me 100s of hours. Thank you!
  • (2020-08-15) BenBen Mark3: Nice! It is convenient!
  • (2020-08-10) 陈风: A nice extension. The interface is beautiful and easy. Here's some suggestions: 1.Add function to set the time that each website is blocked for:once you start timing, you are not allowed to access the blocked websites until the timing end. 2.Add white list:every website is blocked except those on the white list. I'm a Chinese who are not very good at English. If I fail to convey clearly, please forgive me.
  • (2020-08-07) T. R.: I liked this focus extension it is strait to the point. 2 main complaints/suggestions. 1 add a timer for the session. 2 add a white/allow list for certain websites of the users choice. for the timer we can just make one ourselves. for the allow have the exact website you need up then add turn on the extension.
  • (2020-03-09) Ruurt van Berkum: Dit helpt mij enorm. Vooral dat de browser nog even tegen mij zegt dat ik weer aan het werk moet.
  • (2020-02-13) Mingyi Yang: Really love this extension ! ! ! Can you add a "stop block for 10 min" feature to it? It will be very useful to pull people back to work after they stopped the focus mode and kept browsing entertaining websites.
  • (2020-01-23) JESSE PICKERING: Very useful. A tip for other users: if your focus problem is searching stuff, not just visiting certain websites, then you can block google.com and it will not allow you to search anything. Could be improved with a timer. Perhaps a password too? (could be toggleable)
  • (2019-11-24) shahriar sadi: So simple yet so effective.
  • (2019-11-17) Leehie Bortman: This is the most cohesive focus app; does everything i need it to. It's easy to set up, lets me add and delete sites as i need them, and shows me how many times i tried to log on to other sites when im supposed to be working. In my opinion it works better than its competitors- simple, easy to turn on and off, perfect for what i need it to do
  • (2019-09-08) tinafeyismyaunt: Really great extension for studying. The only thing it needs is a timer to show how long you have been focusing.
  • (2019-09-08) Ad Nad: amazing, just wish it had a lock or smth. Then 5 stars but still loved it.
  • (2019-08-23) martin fierro: Muy bueno!!
  • (2019-05-08) Sergio Vernis: It's good, but it would be better if it prevented unlocking at certain times.
  • (2019-04-14) Pedro Lima: The app idea is really great, but as far as I could see, the app allows me to disable it every time I want, which makes it useless for an unruly guy like me.
  • (2019-04-13) Don Watza: I love this idea and think you've got something here. Would you mind if I offer my user experience? User input, could you reverse the logic or offer a different option? That is instead of a black list, there's a white list? Here's why, my ideal workflow is to arrive at work and open up or return to site 1, 2, 3 and perform tasks. Then, move on to sites 4 and 5. Then, I take a break. If you could follow my workflow then no other sites could interrupted until I take a break. When I'm most productive I focus for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Then, a 10 minute break. Research points out a routine like this delivers the right balance of work, thinking, completion and the repetition with a break keeps fatigue away. Just an idea.
  • (2019-03-21) Kelli Sarre: Can't stop yourself from impulsively checking social media when you have work to do? Pomodoro schedules and timers not really your thing? This is just what you need: a handy little switch to disable all of your time-wasters until the project is done, that can be easily reactivated if absolutely necessary without having to disable the app. Perfect, simple interface that goes above and beyond. I love it.
  • (2019-03-04) Julien Samson: Simple but it have all I need.
  • (2019-02-23) Yvonne Valenzuela: I had no Idea how many times I entered social media without even thinking about it! This app is the best! I had helped me to stay focused and consume less social media. Love it for real!
  • (2019-02-22) I like it!
  • (2018-10-21) G Jaque: An excellent extension has helped heaps when I'm doing homework or studying, but I did some playing around and I found that if you are on a website, say youtube.com, and that website is blacklistes. Then if you activate your program it will not identify you are on a blacklisted site even if you use the site and refresh the page. (This could happen because it is only blocking youtube.com and not youtube.com/(video link). Thanks. Love it nonetheless keep it up.
  • (2018-10-04) Hanchao Yang: A nice extension. Adding timing mode would be better.
