ReplaceR replaces existing words on web pages with new words. Make 'Hell' become 'Heck' or 'Game of Thrones' become 'SPOILER ALERT'.
ReplaceR is a Google Chrome extension that lets you take specific words that show up in your Google Chrome browser and replace them with new words. For example, you can take the word "Hell" and make it look like "Heck".
Why would you want to do that?
1. Get warnings about SPOILERS!
Let's say you watch George R.R. Martin's smash hit Game of Thrones on HBO. You can Enter 'GoT' and 'Game of Thrones' into ReplaceR and have it read back "SPOILERS!" so that you have a fighting chance to avoid reading what happens to Khaleesi next.
2. Don't like curse words? Maybe certain words trigger you?
Maybe you don't like curse words. You can replace those filthy words with ***** or different words. Or perhaps certain words just make you cringe... Same idea! You can swap those words out for something more acceptable to you.
3. Correct Capitalization
You can use ReplaceR to change the capitalization of words. For example, you can change eSports to always show as Esports.
How to use ReplaceR:
Add a Word:
1. Right click on the ReplaceR icon and select options.
2. Add a word to replace and a word to replace the word with.
3. Click Submit.
Note: You will need to refresh your pages for ReplaceR to start doing it's job.
Delete a Replacement:
1. Right click on the ReplaceR icon and select options.
2. Find the word you want to remove in the table.
3. Click the Delete button.
Note: You will need to refresh your pages for ReplaceR to update.

- (2023-07-27) Shroom Ghoul: This extension works well. I am grateful someone made an extension like this because I am transgender, and things I read for school or other personal documents contain my dead name and pronouns that give me gender dysphoria.
- (2023-06-27) FatheredPuma81: Constantly breaks websites, requires you to reinstall it constantly, and even then it only sometimes replaces the text.
- (2023-05-09) ronan sorgdrager: Going to replace "White people" and similar, with "Jews" and go on twitter lmao.
- (2023-05-02) Glen Boonzaier: Doesn't work for my web page at all. I'm not sure if it's because the site is an angular website which loads in content dynamically, but other extensions still got that working.
- (2021-12-08) Don Morris: Incredibly useful tool to replace text on any website with any other text. Used it to replace customer IDs on an affiliate program's commissions listing with the customer names (where I knew them).
- (2021-08-18) Jacek Sandoman: This completely breaks Twitter page when trying to change your profile name. Trying to do so to hide my name when browsing in public
- (2021-07-11) Teran H: I've never used a Chrome Extension before this- like, literally ever- so I had a bit of a difficult time finding.... literally anything lol, and getting it to work, but once I got it, the extension worked so well :). For anyone else struggling with this, I just wrote a solid tutorial on how to access the Extension, and it's Options at the end of my review, so, scroll down if u need it :). Maybe unnecessary info, cause most people on this page probably know how extensions work, but if I can help one person and prevent frustration, I'd like to! Anyway. It's good! Very nice. My only issue with this is extension is that sometimes it doesn't load right away, and I can still see the trigger word for a moment :,) I'm lucky that my triggers are more tame than some folks have, but for those with quite-slow computers like me, please beware that is something that may occur. It may take a second or two to load up the extension. I know this is no fault of the extension, and just the fault of my computer (hence I retain a 5 star review) but I thought it was worth mentioning for those looking into the extension and considering it. For the record: This is still the best word-replacement extension I have discovered so far. :) Most of the time it works flawlessly (and if it doesn't- that's on my computer.). Thank you, developers. Your work on this app is very much appreciated. Good for concealing deadnames, trigger words, and more. Good for a quick laugh too, lol. Just change a common word to something silly, and there you have it: a bit of wonderful, free entertainment. It can be pretty amusing! Just remember to change it back when you're done, lol. [For those who are not familiar with Google Extensions like I wasn't, here is some info on how to access them- and their options- that may help you: Access this page and follow along with my comment :) ---> At the top of your browser, there is a search bar- to the righthand side of this search bar there should be a puzzle piece icon (if not, see next paragraph.) Tap that puzzle piece, and it'll open a small little drop-down menu thing with your Extensions (ReplaceR included). Tap the vertical " ... " next to ReplaceR, and then tap "Options." That's how I was able to access it. :) Submit your words, and repeat for any new words you want to add. If the puzzle piece icon is not there, then here's what you need to do. Go to chrome://extensions/ . (To access this without a link, there should be a vertical "..." in the top right of your Google Chrome tab. Click that, and a drop-down menu will appear. Find "More tools..." within that menu, and then hover over it. Click "Extensions".) From there, you should be able to see all of your Chrome extensions- ReplaceR being among them (if you've finished installing it). ReplaceR will have it's own little section just like the rest of the Extensions. There will be a "switch" type button that you can press in the bottom righthand portion of the ReplaceR section. If this button is blue, that means that your extension is active, and you should be able to access the extension (via the puzzle piece icon in the top right of ur page) as per the first paragraph of the tutorial. If it is grey, however, click it, and it will turn blue, Now it is active, the puzzle piece icon should appear where it should be, and you can proceed as per the first part of the tutorial :) If it doesn't work still, then your device may not be compatible with this extension. Double-check on this page by checking their "Overview" section. Hope that helps other people like me, who previously did not know how extensions worked. Now you know! Have fun using Extensions (like this one!) in the future! Also thamk you once again to the developers of this extension :) pretty nice stuff!

- (2020-08-13) Michelle: I am a trans person and this application changes everything. I'm not allowed to legally change my name, and since I'm doing online school, I've had to read it on everything addressed to me as a student. I used this app to replace my dead name with my chosen name and I almost cried. Maybe It's not the response you'd expect from a simple extension, but this made a big difference to me and I'll be recommending it to all of my trans friends.
