Hide Discord Sidebar is a Chrome extension that minimizes the channels list into a small left sidebar when it is not in use and installs a button on the top right corner to hide/show the Discord server list. Users are able to customise the extension with the popup that shows when the extension button is clicked.

IMPORTANT: This extension is only meant to work on Discord in Chromium based browsers. Tested and working on Windows, Mac and Linux versions of Brave Browser and Chrome.

- (2025-05-07) Chiffonkek: Hi there, I'm currently using the extension in Opera GX. It works on a normal browser tab, but not when I open Discord through the sidebar. I'm not sure if it's because the sidebar version of Discord is different but it shouldn't be that way.

- (2025-02-13) Ariel Vajda Baldini: My user style to accomplish this stopped working after many years and I couldn't fix it, but this plugin works. My only minor complaint is that I would like the option to set the width of the collapsed channel/server list - when I wrote my own style to collapse the sidebar, I'd leave the channel list at around 50 pixels so I could see if there were new messages in channels. With it collapsed entirely, you have to remember to hover over it to check.

- (2024-05-03) humuhumu: An excellent add-on to avoid having the servers and channel list take up too much space; it makes Discord usable when the window is too thin. The inbox and help button is still covered by 'Hide Servers', but that isn't an issue for me besides being unable to close threads. Although niche, I have just one complaint: the extension doesn't work for the Opera GX browser's Discord sidebar integration, which is what I use primarily for checking Discord. Due to the GX sidebar always being a smaller window, I occasionally have an issue with the channel list being too wide, so this extension would be very nice to have.
- (2024-01-30) Dingus (The Absolute Dingus): for someone who doesn't use inbox at all and just lets the notifications pile up for some reason, I don't mind not having the ability to check it anymore anyways, it works how its advertised! good job :D
- (2023-12-19) Cassie N: This extension has been GREAT! But recently, there is now a "show/hide servers" button that directly covers my notification inbox and there is no way to get to my notifications without disabling the extension. I can't use this extension until a change is made.

- (2023-08-10) Goldaer: Just downloaded it and it does what it promises. Only thing I noticed is that the "Chat" button disappears too, so I cannot comment on stuff while watching a friend's stream. I mainly wanted the channel list gone, because the chat already reduced the stream enough.

Thanks! --- This is great for saving screen real estate compared to the native app. I wish the channel autohide was configurable like the server list though. I personally prefer hiding servers all the time, but not channels (esp for servers I manage) and DM lists.
