Import .ics files into Google Calendar with just two clicks

ICS to GCal
Description from store

*** NOTE: Google Calendar's own ICS import functionality has been improved and may replace ICS to GCal for you: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r/settings/export ***

Found an interesting event online that comes as an iCal file (*.ics) and want to import it into one of your Google calendars? With ICS to GCal this will take just two clicks - no need to open the Google Calendar settings and pollute your list of calendars.

ICS to GCal correctly imports recurrent events (to the extent they are supported by Google Calendar) and automatically fixes some deviations from the iCalendar specification that are rather common (such as trailing commas in date lists, exceptional dates not specified with the correct time,...).

How to use:
0. Before the first use, click on the extension symbol in the browser toolbar to allow access to you calendars.
1. Right-click on a link to an iCal file (*.ics).
2. Select a calendar under "Add to calendar".
A popup notification will inform you about the number of events added and allow you to view the event or undo the changes while they have not been committed.

Work to treat for me.

Simply did not work for me; seems like it can't work at all with links that prompt an .ics file download.

Artemi Lebedev 2024-06-05

This only works with a direct link :'(

Good, simple, and effective. Above that, open source. What a chad.

This extension did not work. It would also be helpful if you had written instruction on how to use it.

I really like this extension - it is a great time saver! There are times when an .ics file won't import, but I don't think it is a problem with ICS to GCal since the normal import fails too. When I had issues, I used a text editor to take out any UID lines in the .ics file (a tip that I found on some forum) and then the import works. It would be nice if the extension had the option to optionally strip out the UID lines on those occasions.

It did the job perfectly. Amazing. Some times i am getting a message that 'cant create events'. Any issues ?

The extension works great, but the instructions on how to use it are poor. I figured it out by experimentation. They are as follows: 1. add extension to Chrome. 1. Right click on an ICal file on a webpage and select the ICS to Gcal icon. 3. Select which Gcal to add it to. 4. Check it on your gcal.

I have been using this for a very long time. It's one of my favorite extension. That said, I think something has changed. I frequently get an error now saying the ICS file is in the wrong format. I can still tediously go to my calendar and import it, so I feel like it should still work. Can you look into it? I don't even leave reviews normally, but I miss the smooth functionality...

Instructions are very confusing. Extension is installed, and permissions given. NOW WHAT? Going through the normal Google Calendar import page still doesn't work because file is over 2MB

Despite the disclaimer at the top of the description, this is exactly what I needed. A web service links to ics files instead of attaching them to the email, causing me to lose the automatic import functionality. This gave me back control. Thanks!

Works okay - most times when importing a calendar event to a shared calendar it states cannot create event. Checked to make sure it was authenticated with the account, still no luck.

Well, this is the great tool when I have an issue on creating the event from outlook and including myself as an attendee. However, I have noticed that the information of Guests lists are gone after importing the invite.ics to google calendar. Can you please help to check on this wrong behavior? Thank you Thanapol

This was working fine until last week. It no longer works in Chrome. I have to open Firefox in order to import *.ICS files to my Google Calendar.

The ical file has an invalid format... (same that I can successfully import with Google calendar with one hundred clicks)

Finally a solution to my problem! Google Calendar was always able to register itself as webcal:// URL handler, but there was never a way to automatically import *.ICS files.
