Fix wireless audio streaming delay for YouTube

There is always a delay when streaming audio from your device to a receiver (Apple TV, AirPlay speakers, Sonos, Network Player, TuneBlade, Bluetooth, etc.). This is not a big issue when streaming music but any video will become out of sync. This Chrome Extension attempts to solve this problem for YouTube.
The extension allows adjusting to a positive delay as well as a negative one making it possible also to correct any YouTube video that has been uploaded out of sync.
One time set up:
- Go to options
- Click on "Find your system's delay"
- A sound will be played, listen and press the button when you hear the last beep
- The approximate delay will be filled in "Global Audio Delay (ms)"
- Play a YouTube video and check if you are satisfied with the sync. If it is not perfectly in sync, repeat the steps above or adjust the delay value manually and save. You can do this from the Options page or directly from the YouTube player
- You can enable/disable the sync adjustment from the YouTube player or by clicking on the extension's icon in the toolbar.
Additional features:
- Auto toggle extension when audio device is connected
- The selectable delay value is limited to 5000ms in either direction but you can change this when you go to More Options: Maximum Selectable Delay (ms)
- If your computer is struggling to sync, you can try adjusting this setting: Maximum Acceptable Lip Sync (ms).
YouTube Audio/Video Sync works by muting the original video and reloading only the audio adjusted to the selected delay.
Note:
-YouTube Live Videos are not supported.
-This extension (at least for now) will only work on youtube.com, embedded YouTube players on other websites will not work.

- (2023-09-11) Blu Azure: I have an old school Home Theater PC with HDMI to TV--> optical out to a Denon receiver. Over just Youtube I get an audio delay which I was unable to get rid of. It was worst in Firefox and a bit better in Edge, but still there. I just found this plug-in for Chrome and it absolutely works, my audio/video are in perfect synch now. The + and - slider makes this a winner.

- (2023-07-26) Alan Barker: This was a fantastic extension, which worked for the most part flawlessly, however very recently - due possibly to updates in Chrome or changes in YouTube - it no longer works. I have tried posting in the support the section, along with many other previously satisfied users, alas the author has not even acknowledged these posts. I was so impressed with the extension that I "bought the author a coffee". However I feel that a one star rating is now justified. This will be changed to a 5 star when the author tries to fix the extension or even says he is aware of the problem and will attempt maintenance in the near future. - (2023-06-11) b west: My use case is with a Pair of Devialet Phantom speakers which are paired to my MAC via bluetooth for home theater use. The Devialet speajers already have an inherent delay of around 350ms for a bluetooth connection, on top of additional delay from my MAC to the speakers via bluetooth and youtube. This add-on to Chrome is a FANTASTIC tool to address my specific needs. I was able to configure the exact audio delay to have perfect lip sync when playing youtube videos to my Phantoms. However, it seems the add-on is no longer working. Perhaps due to recent Chrome updates? hen i enable this add-on, no sound is output via bluetooth. So I have to disable the add-on now. I hope the developer can please fix this as this add-on is such a god send for those who need to correct lip sync issues. But even if not, I wish to still thank the developer for doing what they have already done for this issue.

My pc doesnt have bluetooth so I connect my phone to SoundWire and connect my TWS to it, this gave it the problem of latency on YouTube, this fixes it so good it even had automatic finder through click test, its so good !!!!
- (2023-05-12) no video (Laci): Simply works. It works very well and and is very easy to use, tho it does sometimes make the audio cut out here and there. But pausing the video and resuming usually solves that.
- (2023-03-25) Andrew Wall: This extension seems very buggy. It sometimes works, but mostly seems not to, meaning that there is no sound at all. I use it for YouTube videos and when it does start working it will work right to the end of the video. I like the settings widget it adds to the YouTube videos, but I've had to disable it as it has annoyed me for the last time.

- (2022-12-23) Valentin Leung: Work... when it feels like it... The start of the video is always choppy as it seems to have to calibrate itself. If the sound comes up, then it will work for the entire video, but sometimes, it just stay silent. So.. not sure what is happening.. Because its function is so random, I disabled it. Hopefully an update will make it work flawlessly.

When it does, it either just cuts in and out, or it plays audio from the ad during the video, and then never switches to the video audio. I suggest testing your software more extensively before claiming "the bug was fixed in v0.3.6"

I really want this feature because my bluetooth earbuds have delay but my speakers don't, so switching between the two would be nice.

Now, just like in VLC you can reverse the delay in Youtube with this. The source code is based. Great! I'm sad Manifest V3 is forced in chrome in a few months, killing this extension.

I keep seeing comments by the developer saying 'the bug was fixed' alas no such bug was fixed. Disappointed! Seems like an easy fix

- (2022-01-20) Carl La Fong: Really needed a utility like this but it simply does not work, Every time it's enabled, it completely kills the audio. Toggle off, audio returns. I tried uninstalling/re-installing but it did not help.

- (2022-01-07) pluvillion: It only worked one time and upon exiting and reopening Edge the whole extension now breaks the site. - It either plays only the audio and the site it stuck with infinite loop. - Video plays but the audio is crackling. - Video DOESN'T play past a certain point. - Reloading the whole site is basically the final nail in the coffin (the whole site just crashes). The only fix would be removing the extension altogether. Trying to reinstall it will cause all the issues to resurface so there's really no point.
