Description from store (NOTE: After installing and/or updating this extension, you may need to restart Chrome or reload open tabs in order for it to function properly.) This extension allows viewing pages in "Text-Only" mode - preserving layout and colors, but removing all images and multimedia from the page. Also available is the option to right-click on a link and open it in Text-Only Mode, preventing images from ever appearing on the page. To activate (or deactivate) Text-Only Mode for an already-open page, just click the Text-Only Mode icon next to the OmniBar. • (2018-11-28) Rick Lupton: did not work, I still got all the ads and other 'fancy' formating on the page. I ONLY WANT THE TEXT!
  • (2018-10-02) Max P: blue color on in icon -- annoying
  • (2018-07-23) Mark Reimer: Not working
  • (2018-07-22) Anonymous: Followed the instructions of toggling it on and refreshing the page and it didn't work at all. Nothing changed and I had no other extensions enabled that would have interfered with it. Images, video and flash all still appeared on every page. All it did was center everything.
  • (2018-07-14) Angela Yee: Perfect for what I needed it for. I needed to search for how to repel insects, but have extreme phobia with seeing insect pictures. The only thing that can make this better, is an option to have the text-only enabled by default for new tabs. I made the mistake of opening one of the insect-related search results on a new tab, and the page had a giant picture of a mosquito close up. :( But clicking the link normally works fine.
  • (2018-02-27) Atchuthan T U: Not working properly
  • (2018-01-21) Bill Shroyer: Does what it says it will do, but leaves all the frames and ad boxes and stuff in-tact. Was expecting it to be more of a "text browser" type of experience, without frames and such. But it is good if all you want is to remove pictures.
  • (2017-11-17) Barbazzo Fernap: Another misnomer. Let's actually see text only! Chrome needs something at least as good as Textise.
  • (2017-06-07) フアン ドゥックトアン: Should help fuction alway use tex-only mode for list of site
  • (2017-02-03) it is okay for someone else but not for me because i want a tool just like google webcache but it is not work for me. i want a tool for complete text browsing
  • (2017-01-02) ahmed fnitou: cool it does what i want
  • (2016-08-02) Burton Rothberg: Works as advertised.
  • (2016-07-16) Mike Alleman: Wow, that was so useless. Loads images first, then removes them. seems to do OK with flash
  • (2016-05-26) steglitz: It deleted photos, but it also messed with the CSS making pages display poorly. It also changed the color of the page text, which, with some backgrounds, made the text look like it too had been removed. Deleted immediately.
  • (2016-03-18) Thomas Mwangi: The best of it's kind! Great job coding this.
  • (2015-10-21) Daniel Lemon: I wish I could set a shortcut key for toggling images off and on. That seems like basic functionality to me.
  • (2015-10-15) Lingga Ismail: not bad lah
  • (2015-08-27) ivan @: works great!
  • (2015-08-03) Công dân toàn cầu: Cool! But how to make it enable at all the page?
  • (2015-05-20) I'd love to see an option to remove text and background colors and revert to standard fonts with a max font size. If these setting were remembered by site that would really ice the cake.
  • (2014-12-26) Eka Y. Saputra: It would be perfect if while hiding images, we can still see the alt tag. However, it already deserves five star.
  • (2014-05-19) Karl Chan: Just need a shortcut key for this extension and i will be perfect. Light weight, work as it say, highly recommended for office guys~ ^3^
  • (2014-03-13) Rubikant: I preferred this over the other Text Mode extension because unlike that one, this one can be set on or off on a tab-by-tab basis (the other is all-or-nothing). Its very useful on my low-powered netbook for browsing some sites that bog it down with lots of animations. However on rare occasion a few random images will show up anyway, and sometimes go away when I refresh the page, for no apparent reason.
  • (2013-10-27) Dan Gardner: I like this extension as it saves space on sites by eliminating pictures etc from loading. It does away with placeholders. Now, for improvement, it would be nice if each tab did not default to text only mode OFF. Rather, it would be nice if the status of new tabs were set based on the status of the tab that was most recently active. Thank you for the extension.
