Save Image As PNG
Adds the "Save Image As PNG" option to the context menu of images.
Converts an image to PNG before showing the Save As dialog.
WebP is a new image format developed by Google. These images are small, but their format is not widely recognized yet. By converting the image to PNG, you will be able to use it in image editing programs, and/or upload it to online image hosting sites such as imgur.
The extension has a low footprint: It does not use any memory or CPU unless you use it by clicking on the context menu option.
Original release date: 3 Augustus 2013.
Update (4 January 2014): If you use Chrome 30 or lower, then you cannot save the image from some web sites (such as the Chrome Web Store). Update to Chrome 31 for an optimal user experience.
Notice (30 June 2014): Chrome 35 on KDE (Linux) has a bug that causes Chrome to crash whenever the Save As dialog is opened by an extension. Downgrade to Chrome 34 or upgrade to Chrome 36 to solve the problem.
Update (2 June 2024): Manifest Version 3 and improved cookie / network partitioning and cache reuse.

There's No Context-Menu as showed in Extension Page in Chrome Webstore !! I
This will save me precious hours, thanks a lot!
Wonderful. Works perfectly. I'm sick of literal png's being saved as webm, just because google decided it knew better. My only gripe is it not always working in incognito, toggled on or not. The option just removes itself sometimes.
Awesome. So glad this extension exists to undo the awfulness of how companies have been forcing us to download less usable file formats instead of simple PNG images.
For some strange reason, extension does now work inside a inPrivate window even when enabled.
great and simple , a easy 5 stars
Worked great. Now it does not work at all. Uninstalled & reinstalled. Nothing. Won't even pop up to save the images. So annoying.
Works like it should. But it would be great if you could make it so that it remembers the last Folder i saved to, instead of always going back to the regular Download Folder
nice
they NEED to scalp whoever invented webp files 😂😂 thank you for making this
Needed for that Google Dogshit
The files become too heavy. x10 the increase. 300kb becomes 3mb.
Upset at Google that they don't allow you to save as PNG or JPEGS, God I miss Mac's
Life saver, would recommend to others
This is a life-saver, thanks for building this extension. Reviewers who say it doesn't work - if you can't handle an extension this simple, you probably shouldn't be using a computer at all.
Works pretty goodly for me, I'm on opera gx
Worked great and was a 5. Now does not work at all. Uninstalled & reinstalled. Nothing.
holy moly this works great
It works as intended but put a pop up on every tab open asking me to leave a rating, which kinda sucks.
Great extension, no ads and unlimited usage, and super convenient.
Does nothing
Does what it advertises, allows users to quickly bypass google's BRAINDEAD choice to promote their cancerous and useless webp format.
Works perfectly and is super convenient
I had been using a different extension, but it eventually tried forcing me to pay money. This extension is basically perfect in comparison. No problems and I would donate money to the developer.
I use Opera GX as my browser, and I've never had issues with this extension. It's nice, simple, and of course, works like a charm.
It's very good but better if it can keep the original filename instead of "image.png"
Good
I hate .webp This extension is great Thank you
Useful for anyone who got annoyed about having the images saved as WEBP file instead. Also the extension sucks! Since it gives me an error on Planet Minecraft for no reason! I'm using a different one!

cool, now i wont have to suffer through ads
Needed this when saving webP, very simple, works just as name suggests. No fuss, no muss.
I echo what others have written. Very frustrated to have the "destination folder" default to the "Downloads folder" rather than the last folder that was saved to.
not always working, found this one that works like a dream https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/save-as-image-converter/pdadeigadaobnnoknpacdmoidalfbeno
life saver
Thank you :)
seems as works. why is the world so hurtful............ https://www.youtube.com/@TheShepherdsChapel/playlists
Works perfectly
Works great again.
Works great.
IT USED TO CRASH BEFORE BUT NOW IT START WORKING AGAIN THANKS
Used to be great. Then it broke.
annoying that google saves most images as a webp now this fixes it!
Formerly worked very well -- but as of recently, it just instantly crashes both Microsoft Edge and Brave.
Does not work :(
Back when it worked, this extension was fantastic and super helpful - albeit lacking the ability to set your own default save location, rather than "Downloads" or to remember the last save location used. As of a week or so ago, it now just crashes Brave browser whenever it's selected. Hopefully it's fixed soon!
I don't wanna 1 star because this extension has been a lifesaver for so long. But yeah something must have changed because it no longer works and just crashes my browser (Brave)
No longer works, just crashes the browser. Not sure if this is a extension issue or a Brave issue, but either way it doesn't work right now.
no longer works on brave bottom text edit: it seems like the issue is on brave browser itself rather than the extension, i tried another similar ext and it doesn't work as well
As of writing this it has stopped working on Brave browser. Still works on Chrome though.
