Gmail Mod adds extra functionality to the Gmail website.
The current version has the following features:
* Embedded video player for video attachments with file extension .mp4/.webm/.ogv/.mov
* Embedded audio player for audio attachments with file extension .wav/mp3/ogg
* A settings window where you can enable or disable Gmail Mod features.
Note that some files may not play because of an incorrect file extension or unsupported codec by the web browser.

- It's become a staple for me, and I have no clue why this hasn't become a native feature in Gmail, even after all these years. I think the extension needs a much better name, because "Gmail Mod" doesn't give a clear picture of what it actually does, but the ability to play most videos directly in your browser is such a quality-of-life improvement, I recommend this sleeper hit for everyone.

- EDIT: I removed and readded the extension and now it works again :) Worked great on Brave but after browser update today it stopped working (the play icon no longer appears next to the "Download" and "Add to Drive" icons) Hope this gets updated soon

- I cannot believe there are only 10,000+ users of this extension. Perhaps the '+' means there thousands of thousands more! :). Great extension. I also was going to switch chrome gmail to an email app with a video player until I installed this extension. Thank you! FYI, auto play is not important to me. Mar 2023 - Stopped working so one star only. plus I didnt like what I read about it's privacy practices. - the user activity monitoring includes keystroke logging! yikes! Will look for another email app/site. May 2023 - Developer provided an explanation for the privacy practices. Works after re-installing. Back to 5 Stars! ๐

For those that read this, in gmail the thumbnail gets a new tiny play button...don't just click on the icon - that'll bring up the normal gmail download this file prompt...look on the attachment email for the play > triangle. Worked great for me, viewing security alerts for a camera/alarm system. Using Win 10 and Chrome.

- Excellent. Thank you for sharing. I went to the link and it auto loaded. I shut down the browser and re-opened as per Allan Barnes comment and it works for me in both Chrome & Edge (Chrome based) so I'm puzzled by some of the negative responses.

- It may be great for video, but audio is another matter. Like all other Chrome extensions that claim to play WAV files, it fails to play attached wav voicemails. Tracked the problem to the fact that these use a codec not installed in Chrome. So still having to download the attached file which then plays with native codecs/apps in Windows 10. Sad.

- Works great - just need to add a note to your instructions to let people know they have to close and reopen their browser to get it to work. Best and easiest add on to Chrome I've ever used - well done!
