This extension allows you to download full resolution stills from YouTube, Netflix, Vimeo, Amazon Prime, and videos on most other websites without seeing the player controls or the surrounding webpage.
Once installed, click on the extension button in the top right of Chrome to choose which sites Video Screenshot will appear on. The extension starts with only YouTube, Netflix, Vimeo, Amazon and Hulu activated.
When a video begins to play, you'll see a camera icon appear alongside the normal player controls. Each time you click the camera button or a keyboard shortcut of your choosing, a screenshot is created of the video from its current frame. The screenshot is then either saved in your downloads folder as a JPG or PNG, or copied to your clipboard. There are additional options such as reporting an issue with the extension and donating to the developer.
Since this extension is reliant on other websites, it will need to be updated periodically as those websites evolve. Please contact me directly if you have issues with this extension on either of these sites, or if you have any suggestions!

- It stopped working on most sites after March 8, 2026 update, so sad, was a great tool before that, please, fix it :( i can see cam sign but no action and no screenshot is taken after i press it :(

- Works well: capures' resolution + ratio equal those of the current video stream. Issues: 1) Hiding the button is necessary to avoid UI issues on some sites (e. g. on https://www.ardmediathek.de/ ), but this is not a major one because I use shortcut keys anyway. 2) The video's website's URL should be put into the EXIF data of the resulting image.

- Dear Screenshot Team, Firstly: from the last few days, It does not fetch youtube video title while saving the screenshots, instead it save the SS with random chracters, Secondly: Earlier it was saving the screenshots in the sub folders of download i.e downloads/screenshots but now it saves all the screenshot in the main download folders and ignore subfolders. which make alot of clutters in the main download folders. additionally it does not work on facebook videos. when click the icon on top right corner of the video. facebook video paused. please immidiately fix these issues, I will update this reviews with 5 star once fixed. Thank you

- Works flawlessly with YouTube and Prime. I had to give a keyboard shortcut (which is available within settings) for Prime, but since then, it's great!

- does what it should but it covers the volume button for instagram, so i cant hear sound while this is installed. instead, it just keeps downloading the image. so, i have to disable it and turn back on, etc. which is a bit annoying

- Absolutely fantastic extension that I've been using for a long time. But if I may ask, would it be possible to have it work on Reddit? Cause it seems to be one of the only sites that doesn't have the option on any videos.

- It's very easy to create a screenshot, paste it into Microsoft Journal, and annotate it very easily with a pen tablet.

- It stopped working today. I removed from chrome and readded the extenstion. Also restarted the pc. The camera icon isn't even showing on videos.

- This app used to perform its function. Now it is unable to capture film stills on Amazon. The screenshots will be covered by the video player UI. Unfortunatley time to use a different plugin.

- Used to work perfectly every time, but occasionally it won't capture the picture of the movie/tv properly, it'll have the video streaming UI shown as well. Granted, this is likely not an issue with the extension itself but the idiotic different streaming service video players.... Disney+, I am looking at you.

- Update: Unfortunately, it recently stopped working for Disney+, so if you're looking for a screenshot service for Disney+, you should look elsewhere for now. Amazing plugin that works pretty much flawlessly in almost every streaming service! Only downside is that the Screenshot button doesn't show up when viewing the default player, but you can just press ALT+P to screenshot that frame instead.
