Description from store This extension allows you to flag specified websites by adding a colored label depending on the URL configuration. It also supports regular expression (including wildcards), color picker and positioning preferences. It is known that it is very common at least a 3 environments or servers in our programming / IT projects (dev, staging, production). Usually all environments are all identical. It is common to commit mistakes such as changing configuration on wrong environments. After all who had never faced the situation when we want to do a "little test" thinking it was doing in "dev" and suddenly realized he was on production environment. After all, the environments are identical, except for discreet URL in the browser address bar. This situation is even more common when the application has an administrative interface. With this in mind this extension for Google Chrome was developed, and makes it possible for you to configure the URLs of yours projects environments and puts a "huge label" on the top corner of the browser, identifying the environment for you with the color and name, according to what you have previously set. No more screw ups on production environment! Available functionalities: - Color picker to configure label color. - Support to regular expressions in the URL address (regexp). - Support to choose the position of the label: Top-right, Top-left, Bottom-right, Bottom-left. - Support "Quick Config" mode: an easy and fast way to set it up. How to use: - After installing, access Bowser Configurations > More Tools > Extensions OR click on the red pencil in the right side of the address bar. - Click on Options menu, over Environment Marker session. - Configure your Environments and click on Save button. Latest release notes v1.0.4: NOTICE: Before updating make sure that you have a backup from your configuration. You can export your configuration using the "Export" functionality under Bowser Configurations > More Tools > Extensions and go to the extension "Options" menu. - Introduced "Quick Edit" mode which will allow users to configure the extension in an easier way. • (2021-02-22) Robert Hawke: very nicely done! only issue i have is that no matter what corner i place it in, at some times it blocks what I should see. It would be nice to have a transparency option in the settings. Or a way to temporarily hide it by clicking on it.
  • (2020-08-10) Bruno da Silva Bertolani: Simple and useful
  • (2020-07-20) Eric Kinney: I like how it makes it very obvious. I wish it could work based on IP address instead of URL - our production and dev is always the same URL, but we manipulate which PROD/DEV by adjusting the hosts file. We need a tool like Environment Marker to help us know which site we are on at all times but it needs to be based on IP address, not restricted to URL only
  • (2020-07-07) Paulo Roberto Beccaro: Total Lifesaver! There's no more need to quadruple check the URL before submitting something in Swagger.
  • (2020-06-25) Chrisse Gannon Carothers: Thank you for saving me from countless "Did I make that change in QA or Dev?" thoughts in my head!
  • (2020-01-17) Alfeu Lucas: Simple and powerful! It just works! No more screwing up with environments :)
  • (2019-12-19) Ronaldo Figueiredo: I really enjoyed it. It prevents us from making silly mistakes among the environments. Our DEV team is installing on their machines !!! I would like to be able to customize the font size to allow me to see up to 2 lines. The reason is that sometimes we need to display the "Project´s name + Environment" . Anyway, my friend, congrats and tks a lot!!!
  • (2019-12-12) Richard Campbell: simple, works, very nice

  • (2019-04-29) Sharad Khanna: Great idea and I really like the easy identification marker that shows up. One problem for me at least - was that I couldn't access controls under it. I was hoping there could be option to move it around the screen - like different corners or even the sides..

It only checks the domain, but it would be nice if it could check the whole url againt the regex for instance. I would like to have different markers not only between different domains, but for different paths also.

  • (2019-10-24, v:1.0.3) Andy Horvath: regular expression help
I am trying to use regular expressions but it doesn't seem to be working. For example, regex: *news.yahoo.com/* works exactly as expected. However regex: *news.yahoo.com/us/* does not flag news.yahoo.com/us or any page underneath it. I am using a 3rd party tool for work, and need to be able to use expressions to flag environments in a similar way.

  • (2018-03-26, v:1.0.1) David Webster: Issue with Frameset without Body Tag
Really promising extension. There are a lot of good uses for this. I am trying to use this with a third party tool who has a head tag and then goes into a frameset. The environment marker div goes into the frameset and isn't shown. When I pull the div out of the frameset using developer tools I can see the environment marker.
  • (2017-06-14, v:1.0.1) Michael Brawn: Add Wildcards
Being able to use regex or a simple * for wildcards on domains / subdomains would be really valuable.
  • (2017-06-07, v:1.0.1) Kristi Wegener: Moving ribbon
It would be super helpful if, in the configuration, you could specify which side of the page you want the ribbon overlay. When it is in it's current location on the upper right hand corner of the screen, it blocks a drop down on some of my environments. Other than that, this extension is awesome! Love how easy it is to configure.
