Simple Markdown Note Taker

Image from store Mark-It
Description from store Mark-It lets you quickly take notes in Markdown from within Chrome. With its View and Edit modes, you can see the pretty version of your notes and format with the power of Markdown when you need to. Mark-It replaces your new tab screen with your notes in View mode so you can quickly open and read them. It also provides a toolbar popup that opens your notes in Edit mode to make quick edits without leaving your page. To switch between View and Edit mode, hit Ctrl + Space. You can also open the popup with Ctrl + Shift + F. Your notes are saved automatically! What's new in 1.2.2: Styled dark mode links to be more readable. What's new in 1.2.1: Added dark mode! Packaged fonts with the extension instead of downloading from Google Fonts. What's new in 1.2.0: Overhauled the saving mechanics. Now your notes are saved when you stop typing and they are synced with all other instances of the notes. Added a saving indicator that shows up while the notes are saving. Added a mode switch button to the popup. Other small fixes and tweaks.

  • (2023-07-07) Jay Johnston: Thank you - simple and powerful. I use it as my "new tab" page so my notes are always handy. I look forward to the "top posting" update!
For the developer: Please remove or make the hotkey SHIFT-CTRL-F hotkey optional while using the devtools. It overwrites the search in source hotkey of Chrome.
  • (2019-09-03) Liam Theveny: A very useful and easy-to-use notetaking application. I use it for keeping track of daily tasks. Works as a new tab page, which makes it very useful for keeping reminders.
  • (2019-07-28) Mark Jose: Mark-It is a nice way to create a newtab page. Clean, simple, and easily customizable means you won't get bored of it quickly and it doesn't take that much effort to set up something you like. I designed it into a directory list for my most commonly used sites which is nice and fast tool I use all the time. It is rewarding if you are at least willing to try markdown. Prior to this app I've used redirect extensions to notetaking apps like Evernote that list my directory of sites but was slow due to loading evernote and then my sites. Mark-It is a definite improvement to what I was using before.
