Raise money for charity every time you search.

Description from store Just by harnessing your normal searches, you can build libraries, plant trees, send emergency aid, give clean water, and more. Choose your favorite charity to support! Search for a Cause changes the default search provider in Chrome. Each time you search, you will see search results (powered by Bing) and search ads. The ads raise money, and we give a portion of it to the cause you are supporting. When you search, you'll earn hearts. Donate your hearts to your favorite charity to tell us where we should give the money you're raising! People like you have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity just by surfing the web. Join them by adding the extension now. Learn more at https://tab.gladly.io. Your Privacy Matters Search for a Cause is committed to protecting your privacy and using your data responsibly. We save information relevant to your profile on Search for a Cause (such as how many hearts you've earned by searching). We do not collect any information we do not need, and we do not store the queries you search. The search page contains search results and advertisements that help us raise money for charity. The search results and ads are provided by our search partner, which may collect anonymized data about you to improve the search experience. • (2021-01-04) Plutopow: The searching is fine but its missing googles features like dice and clac. Also the ads blend in to well with the searches making it hard to find the thing I'm looking for.
  • (2020-12-14) Michael Stemerman: TL;DR: Bing image, video, shopping, etc. are underrated, and when I click "Images" on a Bing based platform, it would be nice to get Bing image. video, shopping, etc. results. Also, definitions, tools, and Random Number Generation features would be welcome. I really like the idea, and I know the Bing problem has been repeated a million times, but I see a bigger problem. If you want to do Bing, go all out. It has MANY problems, but almost all of the advantages Bing has are washed out by this. Advanced, image and video search, news(ish), shopping and many more are not included. Also when I click on images, videos, shopping, etc. it brings me back to Google. Bing shopping, images, video, and news are underrated, and its only problem (search) is more Google just being good rather than Bing being bad. I have a ton of hope for it, and I'm starting to recommend it. P.S. If there was a way to add calculator, definitions, color picker, metronome, and random number generator features (roll a die, spinner, flip a coin, and random number generator) along with adding Bing video, shopping, images etc. then I would say its better than pure chrome. Plus charity!
  • (2020-12-02) Unstopa Jax: nice making me feel that i am helping charity and i bookmark all my favourite websites. just in case i cant find in search
  • (2020-11-25) Zack Prasad: To the people who don't like it, just search what you want, click "Images" and then once you are redirected to google click "All". Solved Otherwise, I would highly recommend this search engine, as I really like Tab For A Cause I got recommended to this extension by HAI (Half as Interesting)/Wendover Productions
  • (2020-10-20) Sumedh Shah: The way how Tab for a Cause and Search for a Cause work is fantastic, as I myself usually forget about charity and have no time to devote to it. The site always reminds me to donate a few hearts but I would like to have a few changes: 1. Catch Up with the Speed. The site should load a bit faster. 2. Don't be so tacky. Try to design the site beautifully. 3. Make a heart worth more. 1/10 of a cent is too low to catch up with the need all around the world.
  • (2020-10-05) thecarefulcactus: it is great because it is for charity, but tab for a cause doesn't effect search results. if they used google search results and had a few ads up top i would use it. make it look more like google as well
  • (2020-09-19) Mustafa Özhan: I really want to use search for a cause with tab for a cause, but I simply can not the reason is the search engine. I do not blame search for a cause for this but you guys need to find a way to work with Google. You do great job with wrong partner.
  • (2020-09-07) Yabba dabba Don't: Good Concept. Bad Design. Cons. The Theme Is Not Good. It takes pretty long to get rid of it. They Pretend They Care About feedback but we all now that is going to where the proof of epstein committing suicide, no where. Pros. It Donates to charity which is always honorable
  • (2020-08-14) whyamialive: I love it, period.
  • (2020-07-15) Dizzy Draws: Its very good, But it defiantly lacks what i thing is an essential to a browser.
  • (2020-07-07) Maya: This search engine sucks ngl, but since it's a charity thing, i'll give it 4 stars. The engine is ugly, yeah that's it. Maybe in the future it'll look better. But for rn imma stick to my web page.
  • (2020-06-27) DanIsWholesome: i just want a way to donate to charity without money so i love this idea
  • (2020-03-20) Harry Michelson: Used to be better than it is now. I've decided to remove the extension because while I like supporting Tab for a Cause through Search for a Cause, the search engine is simply bad. After scrolling through a page of results, the results repeat and only change in order, not the next page of sites. Perhaps if the search results were based off Google, this would work much better.
The concept of this extension is very good, our research will give hearts for the associations that are transformed into money. The research results are also good. But it would need a lot of improvement like when we go on the images it brings us back to Google, have your own results... Otherwise it's good that by combining Search for a Cause and Tab for a Cause we gain a lot of hearts.
  • (2020-01-14) ahmed abdulaahiii: are u kidin me wat u tink i giv moni to charity wen i no food BIG FAT ONE giv me and my sun moni
  • (2019-12-20) Brendan Tyne: It's a nice idea. I'm deciding between this and Ekoru.org which cleans oceans with every search and they are hydro-powered. Ocean plastics are becoming ridiculous
  • (2019-12-02) Mauricio alvarez: I love search for a cause. A plus is the fact that it doesn't collect as much information as most free sites like google. I strongly believe you should advertise the beta of search for a cause on tabs for a cause so that more people are informed of this fantastic extension. It's fast and works well, with seemingly no bugs or issues that need to be attended to. Fabulous work. Edit: I believe that a dark mode should be added, or add a customization for searching the web like the widgets and background for Tab for a Cause. Something extra to appeal to others (mainly because I like having a dark theme).
  • (2019-11-12) A: A free and easy way to help people. Love it
  • (2019-10-24) Ike Rolader: I love the concept! However, Bing search just isn't as good as Google search. As a result of that, I'm not going to continue using this extension. If I could use a search engine that's not Bing, this would be at least 4 stars.
  • (2019-10-02) Theroryguyman - Canadian_Godd: It changes nothing, and I get to help people in need at the same time. Truly wonderful
  • (2019-10-02) Kai Juge: Listen to the reviews: Don't power it with Bing! Everyone dislikes it. Seriously, this is a problem. I intend to use it, but please don't use Bing anymore. Give me better searches, please-listen to us. But, worthwhile to donate to the water charity that uses investment to put small donations to big use.
  • (2019-09-30) A Person: I discovered this through Tab for a Cause, which I have been using for a long time. It is a great way to raise money for charity. I understand that it is still in beta, but it does need significant revisions. It does not have a calculator in the tab or in the search bar. It does not have definitions. It lacks the overview of articles/other websites. It activates in incognito, no matter what, and prevents the user from searching without logging in. I do not understand how this happens, especially given that I have disabled it in incognito and that this phenomenon does not occur with tab for a cause. Regardless of its flaws, I acknowledge that it is still in a stage of beta development and nobody should expect it to be perfect yet.
  • (2019-09-28) A Normal Human Person: Sad it uses Bing, but good concept. Maybe add a search count on every search engine, probably a bubble that you can customize the position of, so you can put it anywhere.
  • (2019-09-28) adrem7: I really like the idea but as a developer I cannot use this. Day to day when trying to find specific answers to technical questions, BING just doesn't cut the mustard. The results are just poor. In my personal life I may be able to abide bing, but since I work on my personal laptop I just can't have this app installed. Such a shame, please change over to Google search backend.
  • (2019-09-28) Lars Sutton: Great idea. I really want to get behind it, but Bing is holding me back. Bing is such an inferior search engine. If you can make it powered by Google then I'd be all aboard with 5 stars!
  • (2019-09-27) Noah Godard: Great concept and I'm sticking with it for now (as a huge fan of Tab For a Cause). That being said, it lacks many of Google's features, such as a calculator in the search bar, conversions, translations, and (most importantly) definitions. Its presentation of information is also much less comprehensive than Google's. Overall, it's a great idea but is not the greatest as a search engine. Some polishing is necessary!
  • (2019-09-15) yri: Thank you for this! I know this is powered by Bing but if it is for casual searches then this is better than nothing, right? Maybe I'll open another browser for important searches. Are we related to Ecosia because that is what I use for my phone? Tabs and searches for a cause, let's do it!
  • (2019-09-04) Chey Poirrier: I love the idea, but the biggest downside is being powered by Bing. I still use it when getting accurate results quickly doesn't matter as much, but I'd love to be able to say I use it for all my searches. Other than Bing's issues, it works pretty well! I love the color scheme. ^^
  • (2019-08-29) James 4theDoctor: Until Search for a Cause switches away from Bing and is more transparent about the donation percentages, I will be sticking with Ecosia which uses nearly all of its revenue to plant trees.
  • (2019-08-28) Jess Nichols: An extremely easy way to raise money for multiple different charities! Lovely program and incredible concept!
  • (2019-08-27) Meme_Lord_31: i love donating to charity's and i suggest it but i wish there was a couple more charity's :)
  • (2019-08-25) Hakim567: Great concept, bad execution. Bing.
  • (2019-08-24) Chris Candelaria: Amazing idea. Unfortunately it is powered by Bing. Everyone else is saying it already but I will add my review in too so hopefully you (the app developer) can see how many people dislike being forced to use Bing. The inconvenience of ads, I can totally deal with for charity. Bing however, I cannot. Please get google support or at least another option other than Bing. Until then, sadly i'll be sticking to Tab for a Cause and google.
  • (2019-08-23) Lord Voldemort: It's great= I love it! it's a must get as a middle schooler surfing the web
  • (2019-08-22) Daisy: It changed all my data that i searched for and it came up with irrelevant things like stores in the UK rather that Australia, and things in Scotland. I will still use tab for a cause but it was too much of a hassle to find what i wanted.
  • (2019-08-22) Nicolas Reali: The idea is really good, but having to use bing is a big downside for me. For people who don't mind using bing: Absolutey recommended. There's genuinely zero reason to not have this extension. But personally, I'll just stick with Tab for a Cause and using Google.
  • (2019-08-22) Helena Rubben: It's a great concept, one complaint though: i don't get any search suggestions anymore when i use this extension so it would be great if that got changed
  • (2019-08-22) ShunnedCashew29: If it wasn't powered by bing I'd have no problems with it, but since google is the way forward I'll stick to Tab for a cause.
  • (2019-08-22) Ronnie Videogamer 2: i love it donating to charity is my thing although i am very young so i dont make my own money to donate so tab for a cause and search for a cause are awesome. the only coplaint is bing...
  • (2019-08-22) Thaddeus Burr: And here I thought Tabs for a Cause was the most ingenious and effective way to raise money for charity. Now I have both. The extension itself isn't intrusive, and though I wish it would use Google instead of Bing simply because of my own petty preference, that's the only "complaint" I have, and thus I still give 5 stars.
  • (2019-07-18) Jason Youm: It's an amazing way to donate money, fast and easy. However, it's not as versatile as Google. For example, if you search up the definition of a word, instead of Google printing it out right in front of you, you have to go and click on a dictionary site and then find the definition. Or if you want a flight from New York to Miami, Google shows a list of possible flights right away, but Search for a Cause makes you get a flight on Expedia, Orbitz, etc. Still, thought, it's a great product that can help everyone in the planet!
  • (2019-07-15) Madi Collins: It's been great, plus it doesn't slow down my browser!

Latest issues

  • (2021-01-17, v:0.7) Sean Hollander: How it works
I know that it's only been an app for a few days, but there are some glaring issues. 1. It is powered by Bing, A.K.A. the Worst Search Engine Ever. 2. Once you search something, then click on, say, Images, it switches back to normal Google. 3. The way you get to Search for a Cause is very inconvenient. 4. It is powered by Bing, A.K.A. the Worst Search Engine Ever.
  • (2020-12-14, v:0.7) Michael Stemerman: Including the bad parts of Bing (Search) while not including the stuff that Bing does well. (Image, Video, Shopping, Etc.)
• (2020-10-15, v:0.7) T. G.: use google instead of bing
As lots of other people have said, you should use Google instead of Bing or at least have more options, then more people would use it. The less of a change to people's habits you make it the more people will use it.
  • (2020-09-13, v:0.7) Toby Keane: Love the idea but hate bing...
Love the idea but hate bing. The only reason I wont be using this. If you could have a skin that went over whatever default current search provider I am using in chrome (currently duck duck go) then I would be interested. Thanks
  • (2020-08-01, v:0.7) Seth Schreiber: Remove sign in for Incognito
It requires sign in for every incognito search, with no option to disable.
  • (2020-07-11, v:0.7) Martin Celander: no google, no microsoft
I like that you avoid google but I would be more interested in trying it if it wasn't powered by microsoft
  • (2019-11-06, v:0.6) Chandresh: Powered by Bing?
I am on board with raising money for charity while searching the web. But "powered by Bing" defeats the purpose of searching in the first place. Who uses Bing when you got Google?
  • (2019-09-25, v:0.6) Matt Heatley: AdBlock
When i use the search it says Turn off Adblock. Only problem is the stop sign is already green on the search results page. Even when i turn adblocker off it says to turn off adblock. Not sure what the issue is here.
  • (2019-09-14, v:0.6) Daniel Webster: Incognito Requires Sign-in
This is only a recent problem. If you try to make a search when in incognito, it redirects you to sign in, which defeats the purpose of being incognito!
  • (2019-08-23, v:0.4) Todor Stoynov: Powered by bing
I am very on board with this (as evident by the fact that I am already using Tab for a Cause), but the "Powered by Bing" part really is a deal breaker for me. If you can make it with the google search engine that would be great.
  • (2019-08-22, v:0.4) Wing Hong Chan: Search Search for a Cause
If the address bar/omnibox is blank (for example, on the home screen) the address bar reads "Search Search for a Cause" (repeated word was deliberate).
  • (2019-08-22, v:0.4) Wing Hong Chan: Search Search for a Cause
If the address bar/omnibox is blank (for example, on the home screen) the address bar reads "Search Search for a Cause" (repeated word was deliberate).
  • (2019-08-22, v:0.4) Wing Hong Chan: Search Search for a Cause
If the address bar/omnibox is blank (for example, on the home screen) the address bar reads "Search Search for a Cause" (repeated word was deliberate).

  • (2019-08-21, v:0.4) Blayke Fisher: Search engine
please make an option to change the search engine to google lots of people dislike bing.
  • (2019-08-08, v:0.4) Sophie Snowbird: Running in the background
Both Tab for a Cause and Search for a Cause are set to running in the background and are not my home page like on my other computer. Is it still working? When I go to the TFAC extension it only shows the download page, not my screen that I could set as my home screen.
