  • (2019-12-23) robotics valencia: I actually have not used this yet, but it seems pretty solid, I am setting it up at the moment, I got it to work using my own ftp, but my goal is to use it for school projects and thats on this email, and I don't want my classmates having access to my FTP so I have to set it up for gmail, I don't know why all of you are so mad, I will judge if its worth paying for later, but for even a trial period its free and thats more than enough.
  • (2019-12-12) Shulov market: nice
  • (2019-01-19) Aurora Therrien: It sounded cool, but as soon as i started doing stuff it asked me to pay, which it doesn't advertise here.
  • (2019-01-08) Joachim Janke: no java yet
  • (2018-04-19) Ken Aitchison: Hijacks file associations that have nothing to do with development and wants your personal info and money the first time you double click. Uninstalled.
  • (2018-03-31) Blanc: Great ide - but has discontinued free version, so i'm looking elsewhere. UPDATE: i've now looked elsewhere and after extensive research i've discovered: 1. this is by far the best online editor for chrome (in fact, it's the only one i can find with builtin ftp and full wysiwyg design features) 2. the developer is extraordinarily responsive and helpful and bends over backwards to fix problems and accommodate requests for new features (not something i could ever say about dreamweaver) 3. it's great value and i will henceforth be subscribing!
  • (2018-02-06) Nathan Sharpe: You'll need to download this before you pay $6/month for what you thought you just downloaded
  • (2017-12-18) syfre: need registeration
  • (2017-11-30) Ethan Barr: ITs free and works with google driver +++++++++++++++
  • (2017-10-20) Noob Hunter: This is great
  • (2017-05-24) Jason Pettus: [Disclosure: I am not affiliated with ShiftEdit or any of its employees in any way.] Wanted to counterbalance all the negative reviews here and mention that I had a perfect experience with ShiftEdit. I was connecting to my WPEngine site through SFTP; once I entered all the login information (hint: if your root directory has no name, simply use "/"), I got connected with no problem and was able to edit files through the company's clever online editor. It's certainly not an IDE I would use full-time (I use Git and SublimeText on my main home desktop), but is great for my Chromebook when I'm on the go and need to make some fast quick changes and can't run standalone apps. I find that worth 6 bucks a month, although apparently a lot of others disagree.
  • (2017-03-23) Jack Davenport: Couldn't edit files from drive, have to make a web server to even be able to save, even if you're not writing HTML/CSS/JS? Annoying, don't use unless you're making a website.
  • (2017-03-08) Hasindu Lanka: How to Disconnect it?
  • (2016-12-28) No free version. Overall also way too bad! Below my expectations anyway
  • (2016-12-13) Zach Connelly: Takes forever to launch, poor interface, total garbage. Refund.
  • (2016-11-27) Andrei Coser: Got trial, tried, stopped working 5 minutes in, no matter what I do it keeps says "connection to host lost"
  • (2016-10-20) millo lailang: Deleted as soon as I opened it. LOL It is not a chrome app. It takes you the their website. Its an online editor. Bullshit.
  • (2016-10-17) Perry Yen: can not use
  • (2016-10-05) Yashwin Pamecha: Useless. Cant ever open the file. Gives unknown error
  • (2016-07-01) Volodymyr Sichka: Dislike.
  • (2016-06-22) nameless identity: Not really sure why this is even on the Chrome Store because this isn't really a Chrome app. It's a website.
  • (2016-05-25) Vasco Baeta: amazing ui good ux nead better help menu and git association
  • (2016-05-01) Babak Kamali: Totally unintuitive, inaccurate error messaging and basically useless.
  • (2016-04-27) Haruhiko Davis: Would not stay connected to Drive so I was never able to have any files I created.
  • (2016-04-26) The Fifth Column: Couldn't even complete registration process through facebook or my email.
  • (2016-04-22) Arsou: dont work at all
  • (2016-03-28) Grayson Penland: Don't like it. slow, won't connect to GDrive, preview won't work, hate it. try if you like.
  • (2016-03-17) Nick Hilton: Can't edit local files, File Open shows empty dialog, no way to browse for file.
  • (2016-01-24) G Mad: Shiftedit deleted every folder and file for all of my websites! I could not recover them, and had to re-upload everything using a different product. STAY AWAY from this program!
  • (2016-01-18) Andrew Collins: Superb IDE. I absolutely love it. I have experience using NetBeans, but I would never go back now. Great stuff.
  • (2015-11-16) Towhid Ul: Good job!
  • (2015-11-12) Andrew Mugambi: cool
  • (2015-06-08) Darryl Schmidt: I use this each and every day. There's frequent updates so it looks like the dev is still active :) I have never regretted paying for this.
  • (2015-06-06) can't save my work. asked me to choose the directory but where is it? no directory at all. Edit, ok i have to connect first to ftp or remote, it's too cumbersome for me :(
  • (2015-05-07) Unbelievable: A cloud app that does all this for free is precisely what I was looking for! A Bash command window, connect to ftp for immediate testing of code changes to your site.. I'm a beginner but I love this tool.
  • (2015-04-28) Hugo Cardoso: REALLY GOOD TO EDIT SQL ONLINE
  • (2015-04-17) Andy West: Having used ShiftEdit for some time now, I'll never go back to Dreamweaver. This has most if not all of the features a developer could need, and you don't have to install anything either; simply log in and you're away. The IDE is packed with features and supports a wide variety of file extensions. To the one-star reviews, you're doing it wrong.
  • (2015-04-09) Michael Wheatley: I'm impressed! I was not expecting it to be so complete. Even the free version gives a very solid set of tools, FTP connections and integration with Google Drive. I would like to be able to have more than one site available on the free version, but there's always Dreamweaver for that. I was expecting it to be suitable for the light weight stuff only, but it's actually way more than that. It even compiles .less files on save. Well done.
  • (2015-04-05) Tyler Scott: Failed from the get go. All I got was a gray screen.
  • (2015-04-03) Joshua Demallistre: Do we have an off line off for this app?
  • (2015-04-03) David Brown: This looks like it would be a great product for me to use, but the pricing is a little steep.
  • (2015-03-05) dack ragus: Incredible software. Just genius. Better than any installed IDE I've ever used in 20 years of web development. Don't listen to the one-star reviewers; they don't know what they're doing.
  • (2015-02-25) Kevin Whitlock: Just wanted to create a simple site for a school assignment. I was unable to save my work because I had not selected a directory. I was not able to figure out how to select/create a directory to save my work in. This software is poorly designed. Don't waste your time.
  • (2015-02-20) Shawn Fluhr: Free Trial Only
  • (2015-02-16) Michael Vincent David: Without public key authentication, no go.
  • (2015-02-16) Pam Van Londen: Reliable and easy to use.
  • (2015-01-28) Kevin Naranjo: Did exactly what I needed it to do, namely FTP.
  • (2015-01-26) Jonathan Robst: Demands access to a whole bunch of things it does not need and I don't seem to be actually able to run any code. I can save it, but that's all.
  • (2015-01-08) Jørg Ulrich Hansen: Works realy good if it can connect to the shiftedit server.
