COMO SE USA
Con un único botón localizado arriba a la derecha de la web de Google Maps (debajo de tu imagen de cuenta de Google), podrás copiar y pegar de forma manual o automática las coordenadas GPS de cualquier lugar seleccionado en formato DD (grados decimales), en formato DM (grados y minutos decimales)y en formato DMS (grados, minutos y segundos), con su latitud y longitud, respectivamente.
También verás su código plus de Google y su MGRS (Sistema de Referencia de Cuadrícula Militar).
Por ejemplo, si seleccionas Barcelona en Google Maps y luego haces click sobre el botón mágico, verás sus coordenadas en estos diferentes formatos:
- DD (grados decimales): 41.382894, 2.177432.
- DM (grados y minutos decimales): 41°22.9736'N 2°10.6459'N.
- DMS (grados, minutos y segundos): 41°22'58.4"N 2°10'38.8"E.
- Código Plus: 8FH495MG+5X.
- MGRS (Sistema de Referencia de Cuadrícula Militar): 31TDF3122281589.
Recuerda que esta utilidad para Google Chrome sirve para mostrar las coordenadas de cualquier área, municipio, comercio, punto de interés (PDI/POI) o incluso un lugar de cualquier parte del mundo seleccionado directamente en el mapa. Aunque no exista información exacta, obtendrás su posición GPS exacta ;)
Si no hay nada seleccionado, la información mostrada será la posición del centro de la pantalla.
CÓDIGOS QR
Al lado de cada coordenada hay un icono para crear un código QR y escanearlo, por ejemplo, con tu smartphone o tablet para enviar esa información cómodamente a dicho dispositivo.
También se pueden crear códigos QR para escanearlos con tu dispositivo móvil y abrir directamente la app de Google Maps o la app de MAPS.ME con el punto o lugar seleccionado. Fácil, ¿verdad?
SELECCIONAR Y ENVIAR A GMAPS
Con esta extensión instalada en tu navegador, tras seleccionar un texto (normalmente una dirección o lugar) en cualquier página web, haz click derecho para seleccionar en el menú la opción de "Buscar esto en Google Maps" y buscarlo directamente allí.
Únicamente con 1 click harás todo esto: Seleccionar y copiar el texto, abrir una nueva pestaña a la web de GMaps, pegar el texto en la caja de búsqueda y darle a la tecla intro. Mucho más cómodo, ¿verdad?
CÓDIGOS PLUS
Cuando una dirección específica no está disponible, o por comodidad, es posible usar un código plus para encontrar o compartir un lugar en GMaps, como una empresa o dirección particular.
MGRS
El Sistema de Referencia de Cuadrícula Militar (Military Grid Reference System) es un sistema basado en cuadrículas utilizado para representar ubicaciones mediante los sistemas de cuadrículas de Proyección universal transversa de Mercator (UTM) y Proyección estereográfica polar universal (UPS), expresadas como una cadena de caracteres alfanuméricos. Se usa como geolocalizador para toda la Tierra.
COMBINABLE CON OTRAS EXTENSIONES DE GOOGLE CHROME
★ Pushbullet (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pushbullet/chlffgpmiacpedhhbkiomidkjlcfhogd): Una vez tengas esta extensión instalada, selecciona el campo de texto con la información deseada, y desde el menú contextual (botón derecho del ratón) pulsa Pushbullet y envíalo a cualquiera de tus dispositivos. Útil si usas algún servicio de mapas no compatible con nuestros códigos QR (pero puedes enviarme un mensaje para que trate de implementarlo).
COMBINABLE CON OTRAS APPS DE MAPAS
★ Maps.me: Usando la extensión de Pushbullet como más arriba detallo, o usando la opción de generar código QR en esta extensión, resulta muy fácil enviar la situación de un lugar (desde tu ordenador, computador, portátil o laptop) a otras apps de mapas como MAPS.ME (Maps with me), ya que es infinitamente más rápido buscar un lugar con su latitud y longitud que con su nombre en dicha aplicación. ¡Pruébalo y nos cuentas!

With the extension turned on, I can see that the bottom page of the page breaks, however with the extension off it doesn't do that. We do field crop surveys and record a GPS location at each stop so we end up with a bunch of coordinates. If the records get scrambled somehow I look up the coordinates individually on google maps to see where they were. I noticed some strange misalignment and on hover styles on a web site I run. It was from an injected Stylesheet. After switching off and switching on extensions, I found it is from this extension. It seems to be as a result of the April 3rd update. The affected element was a button with class name "button". The injected stylesheet removes margins, adds rounded corners, and sets a background color of rgb(254, 255, 157) on button:hover. This can be fixed by limiting the scope of the site access of the plugin to Google (since it should only be working on Google Maps) instead of "all sites". It would be nice if the developer could limit the site access by default. Otherwise I love this extension. But I have to switch it off so it doesn't mess with the CSS on sites I visit.
