Description from store The primary feature of this extension allows users to hide any element on the page with a simple right-click menu action. Advanced features on the Options page also allows the user to automatically close invasive popup windows, as well as automatically hide selected elements when the page is loading. Several other customizable settings are also available on the Options page. NOTE: - The primary right-click functionality of this extension does not permanently hide the element. Any page refresh will bring back the full page as intended. To automatically hide elements when loading a page please try the ‘Automatic Hiding’ feature on the Options page. - Once the extension is added to Chrome, any pages you already have open will need to be refreshed for the extension to start working. - The icon menu for chrome extensions should display to the right of the address bar (a puzzle piece). -- UPDATE NOTES -- 3.7.0 (13th April 2024): - Added ability to close “about:blank” popups when opened from a specified website. - Displays “unsaved changes” warning message on the Options page. 3.6.0 (14th April 2023): - Migrated to new Chrome extension manifest version 3. 3.5.0 (18th November 2022): - Added "Show Auto Hidden" button in the icon menu to redisplay automatically hidden elements. - Added "Rerun Auto Hide" button in the icon menu to rerun automatic hiding. 3.4.0 (8th September 2022): - Added a user-friend option for the Automatic Hiding feature in the icon menu (“Set Auto Hide”) which will automatically generate the necessary element selectors for all your hidden elements on the current page. - Set newly added items as green, to indicate they are unsaved. 3.3 (21st March 2021): - Switched to using Chrome's local storage for storing the settings data (instead of syncing the data to your Google account). This allows for a higher data storage limit. 3.2 (31st December 2020): - Allow user to disable/enable individual automatically hidden sites or elements. 3.1 (22nd December 2020): - General improvements and bug fixes - Added option to show/hide help text on the Options page. 3.0 (29th November 2020): - Added new ‘Automatic Hiding’ feature on the Options page. - Split the ‘Advanced Features’ section on the Options page into the ‘Automatic Closing’ section and the new ‘Automatic Hiding’ section. - Improved help text and advanced feature explanations. - I apologise if any of your Option settings for this extension were reset upon upgrading to version 3.0. 2.2 (6th September 2020): - Added new 'Export Settings' section to the Options page. This will allow a user to import/export their settings. 2.1 (9th January 2020): - Enhanced the 'Advanced Features' option that closes listed popup sites. There is now a dropdown list that displays the address of recent new tabs or popups. This means the user doesn't have to manually capture the initial address of the popup site. 2.0 (December 2019): - Added new 'Advanced Features' section to the Options page. - Added 'Advanced Features' option that can immediately close listed popup sites.

  • (2023-03-30) Rock Roberge: I've tried a few "element erasers", and this one is by far the easiest to use and does the best overall job.
  • (2022-11-01) Hegito Brindes: This is a great extension. Only caveat for new users is that auto-hiding is not very clearly explained by the dev in the options page. It works like this: first you hide what you want to hide via right clicking and selecting "Hide that!". Then you click on the extension icon to the right of the navigation bar (it must be pinned there beforehand) and there will be the option to auto-hide (which opens the extension config page, then you can simply close it). Worked like a charm for an annoying flashing message icon in my ERP.

  • (2022-08-06) Tyson Fernee: Very helpful for ads/popups and just making more space for other elements.
  • (2022-06-10) John Michael Ruiz: This is an exceptional extension for removing many annoying nuisances covering obstructing my view while reading in manga sites. My only problem is that I cannot remove these annoying "sticky borders" that keeps on appearing even if I hide "body > div.wrap > div > header > div.c-sub-header-nav.with-border.sticky" with or without symbol #. Can anybody help me solve this? I rewally don't know how to get rid of this.

  • (2021-07-07) Chris Phillips: Dao Seeker, I’ve got your back man!! This is a great extension people! First of all, I've actually read what this extension is supposed to do, and it does EXACTLY what I was hoping it would do. Its function is to disable annoying AF elements on pages TEMPORARILY, but allow the restoration of that functionality when needed. The reason I was looking for an extension like this was to block the seemingly ever present hover / dropdown menus that populate the top of so many web pages today. When navigating and you hover over them for a microsecond, you get a drop down list that blocks your view, stays present for way to long, and makes navigation a real chore. This behavior drives me absolutely crazy. Having said that, I have plenty of extensions that can block this behavior PERMANENTLY, but that in itself creates a real headache if you need to access these annoying web elements eventually. So what this extension does is lets you view the page, block the trash, do your thing, and then re-enable any needed navigation elements with a simple F5 refresh if needed. Brilliant! Thank you very much! This extension is now in my “mandatory install” list. Thank you and please keeps up the good work!! P.S. For those of you who would (and should) give it a try, I suggest: “Single click – Remove” under Right Click Menu Action. That seems to work the best and makes the most sense for me. Enjoy!
  • (2021-05-14) Shay Lewis: @Dao Seeker, my bad. It does work. I don't even remember typing that description lol let me update it. 4 stars mainly because I would like the ability to hide things permanently
  • (2020-12-06) BlissStory: perfect! saved me the trouble of making this myself :) I hate the trending tab on twitter, it always gets me in a bad mood with how 2020 is going, using this extension now to hide it, thanks!
  • (2020-09-11) Jonatas Nogueira (Jesusalva): Very simple to use and satisfactory.
  • (2020-08-20) Ginny Di: I really wanted this to work, but after I used the "hide that" option, I refreshed the page and everything was back. The creator says you have to refresh for it to apply, but refreshing just undid the hiding for me. I'm using Chrome version 84.0.4147.125. This would be really helpful for me if it worked, so I hope I'm just doing something wrong.
  • (2020-07-07) Brantley Gunn: Been using it awhile now and it definitely works! It quickly and easily removes any website pop-up banners. Good job Dao

  • (2023-10-01, v:3.6.2) C C: does this still work, Sept 2023?
I just installed on Windows 11, Google Chrome. I can't get it to do anything, or find any instructions how to use it. I tried right-clicking on a sliding banner on luckybrand.com, selected "Hide that" but nothing at all happened. How do I hide a sliding banner, or anything?
  • (2023-04-06, v:3.5.0) Linda Harmony: Can't auto hide
Hi - Thanks for the extension! I'm trying to auto-hide, but it doesn't work for me. What am I doing wrong? First, I right-click an element and then select Hide That! That part works. Still on the same page, I click the Extensions icon, click Hide That, and then click Set Auto Hide. The menu disappears, and nothing else happens. The hidden item reappears on the next page load. In the options, I've tried both selecting and clearing "Enable automatic hiding feature." • (2023-03-31, v:3.5.0) Rock Roberge: Hide That! Suggestion
First off, amazing job with this extension... I left a review and am so happy to have found it. Within Options, with "Briefly show outline of selected element" selected, it can still be very tough to see the element that will be hidden. Is it possible to make the outline thicker / more visible to make the selected element more obvious? That's all I've got... keep up the great work, and thank you again!

  • (2023-02-02, v:3.5.0) John Michael Ruiz: Help! How to block auto play video widget ads if they have different number combinations?
The site is manhuaplus, and the format of selector is like this: #videootv-widget-player-880 Each widget player have a different number combination, Im not gonna manually type in all the number combinations from 1-999, so Im hoping I could just block all divs that look like this: <div id="videootv-widget-player-412" class="videootv-widget-player widget-started"> The ad is annoying and Ive been reading on this site for too long, wouldnt want to switch to other sites just because of these stupid persistent ads. Hoping you still actively entertain questions, and thanks for the extension, it helps me a lot.
  • (2022-08-27, v:3.3.1) Lark Davis: Is there a way to easily reveal automatically hidden items?
I have an html element that I am hiding with a css-class with automatic hiding. I'd like to be able to hide it automatically on page load, but then reveal it easily when needed. Is there a way to do this, possibly from the extension menu? If not, this would be a great feature. Otherwise I have to go into the options menu and disable the class, which is a pain. Thanks for a nice extension!
