Provides simple ways to open any YouTube video or playlist in a configurable popout window
Overview
This extension provides a simple way to open any YouTube video (including videos embedded in other sites/pages) in a "popout" window which you can freely position and resize.
Usage
When viewing any YouTube video, whether directly YouTube, or embedded on any other website, you can either:
- Right-click on the video and click the "Popout Player" option (at the bottom of the menu that is displayed)
- Click the popout player icon (a square with a smaller square coming out of the top right corner), which can be found in the lower right corner of the video (by the settings and fullscreen icons)
- Use the keyboard shortcuts (default CTRL + Up Arrow )
- Right-click on any link/thumbnail to a YouTube video or playlist, and use the "Open Video in Popout Player" or "Open Playlist in Popout Player" menu options. This works on any website as long as the link goes to YouTube.

- Bummed this doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm running into an error code 15 which other reviewers seem to be getting as well.

- Doesn't work on Chrome since the UI update on YouTube (The popout button is there but if you use it or if you use the keyboard shortcut, a black window appears with error code 15). No idea if anyone is even working to fix it as there doesn't seem to be any announcement or acknowledgement of the problem. I would normally be happy to give it 5 stars but at the moment it shouldn't even be available on Chrome Web Store let alone featured.

- I've been using this for a while now and it's great. You can use microsoft powertoys to make sure its always ontop. Recently though, it doesn't appear on YouTube's new UI for some videos and when it does, i get a Error 153 when pressing it.

- This is my favorite pop out app because it allows me to reduce the window size of the video as small as I want it to, in order to put it in a corner of my desktop while I work in the office. Sadly, the new UI update that Youtube is rolling out now seems to give errors with the pop out feature, so hopefully that gets fixed soon.

- Since the new browser updates have dropped, this no longer is working across brave, firefox or chrome. On each attempt, with or without adblockers on, you get the Error 15 message when attempting to use it.

- This Youtube Popout Player has been amazing to me and I love how good it has been! Unfortunately I too am not able to use it since the new UI dropped. No reason for me to make this a 1 Star because of that though. Unfair reason to downgrade it! I hope it will get updated to work with the new UI soon enough! :-)

- No longer works since round about the start of October, which is very sad because I liked this one because it wasn't just a Picture-in-Picture, I could actually still do things like change the playback and such. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

- Dose not shown in new youtube design.

- not working. Showing video not available

- 100/10 - this combined with MS PowerToys to make the window always on top of others chefs kiss
- Daniel Campos
- Works as intended

- Great extension, what I was always looking for. The real popout window. The only problem: recently stopped working (always says "video unavailable").

- practically useless. Since u enabled popup to do something that covers the entire screen and u need a video to watch while doing it, but this app needs focus at all times, so basically the popup goes behind if you do other things that covers the entire screen, making the pop up useless. i can simply make a new window and open youtube in it, it will do the same trick. Pretty stupid extension to have honestly.

- As for 5/8/2025, the addon stopped working. Now the window shows a "video unavailable" in every video.

- what's the reason for this extension when you can't have it always on top... also there is no setting to make it on top... thanks for nothing
- C
- it does technically work but its kind of useless as you cant actually resize it so it just covers most of your screen anyway
- Jake
- Works as intended, people complaining about it not working are having skill issues
- Ruzik Iforgor
- Opens up a new window
- Sathira Wijeratne
- Does exactly what i want it to
- Nogotta Nomoney
- Does exactly what I need it to. People complaining about it's features seem to have a skill issue and do not appear to understand them or how to tweak the performance. Windows pop out on top, are easy to resize and reposition, and the default behavior of all it is simple to change.

- Perfect way to play two audio streams on a Chromebook.
- SHIVCENZO GAMER
- Not good , it open new browser window , its look old like window 7
- Mahir Derdour
- that's good and workingšš
- Ali Kazi
- It simply opens the video in a new full screen window and it doesn't even maintain the play position. This is not a real picture in picture experience.
- BoxEmApp
- everything I wanted and more.. just wish there was a playback speed in the taskbar rather than going through options
- denny ariawan
- working nicely

- not working

- Use this extension to pop the video out, and then use PowerToys' "always on top" to make sure the popped out video is always on top.
- a p
- the whole point of a pop out is for it to stay on top of other programs. this doesnt.
- Arachnid
- I use this for audiobooks, podcasts and other long listenable videos. Makes it more convenient to watch and listen while doing some other work.
- Marcus Williams
- for some reason this was activating youtube's anti adblocker system. might just be me. also, you can right click a video twice and use a built in 'picture in picture' system that actually stays pinned to the top
- Husam Albajqny
- just need to stay pinned to the top
- ć«ć·ć¢ć³
- Useless, it doesn't stay pinned to the top...
- Jason5Lee
- I use it to display subtitles, a feature that the picture-in-picture extension cannot do. If you want to keep it at the top, on Windows, try PowerToys.
- Yuks*
- works great
- Menora Sendaiba
- if only there is "Always on Top" option
- Khaled Madkour
- Thank you this is so good. and would be better if you can hide the window frame where there is close and minimize button or make it appear on hover. thank you
- Tri Wahyu
- You can use powertoys to pin the windows, and please add autoplay next video feature, thanks
- Peter Nagy
- Serves my purpose. What is important for me is the double-click to go to full screen. It works like a charm.
- SaienS
- The idea is good, IF the video is only open by this extension, not double. Search the whole setting, no found set for that.
- Ć dne Carlsen
- Does what it ways, but it lacks the option to make the pop-out window stay on top of other windows, which I presume is the reason most people would use this extension...

- Does what it says it does. Opens a popout window with only the video in it (please note it's a typical 'pop-out window' with only a title bar, no address bar or other browser functions and buttons).
