Honestly, this is such a smart idea. It lets me learn passively while watching my favorite shows

Using it for Japanese and it works great with anime on Netflix. Some shows don’t sync perfectly but it still helps a lot. I’m definitely learning faster than with apps alone.

Every subtitle that stumps me appears with an instant translation right there on screen, followed by a popup with pronunciation and related words. I can save them immediately for later review Super helpful!

I’ve been using Masterlang every evening while watching Netflix and Amazon Prime Video for the past month and honestly, it’s revolutionized the way I learn languages! As someone trying to improve my Spanish and Italian listening skills, I love how a quick tap of the spacebar instantly pauses and pops up an on‑screen translation of that subtitle.

I do wish there were more languages supported, but for the languages it does support, it’s fantastic. The daily objectives keep me on track, and the ability to replay specific subtitles really helps with listening comprehension.

This extension really helped me pick up French phrases from shows I already love. Sometimes the translations aren’t perfect, but the vocabulary tracking and export to Anki are excellent. Great idea, well executed.

Doesn't seem to work. I'm in Disney plus, in German (home language English). I press the spacebar, and it pauses, but there is no translation.

Doesn't work for Japanese as far as I can tell, I see someone else said it doesn't work for simplified chinese. So maybe this extension only works for european languages?

Updated 2016-11-17: The new version seems to work ok for me now. The popup dictionary page is no longer blank, and it seems to properly default to "Spanish-English" as the dictionary for the show I tried watching. One tip to other people using this plugin. If you use Anki flashcards, you can also install the "Anki Adder" extension in Chrome. Then, when you are watching a movie on Netflix with the Tranflix extension and bring up the dictionary box for a word you do not know, you can add that word to Anki by right clicking on it in the dictionary box. Original review: Unfortunately the translation function simply does not work for me... I have enabled Tranflix, and when I click on the Spanish word at the top of the screen, the translation window either opens up blank (all white), or with a random language (e.g. Italian to English, Romanian to English, etc.) instead of Spanish to English. I can not even try to manually change the language in that window myself and press the search icon, that doesn't seem to work either, although that would not be a workable solution anyway. I did not get a reply from the developer. I would suggest that if he charges a monthly fee for usage of the extension (which I paid) he needs to provide support...
