Correcteur d’orthographe et reformulateur — LanguageTool
Description from store

★ Détecte bien plus d'erreurs qu'un simple correcteur orthographique ;
★ Aucune identification nécessaire ;
★ Supporte plus de 25 langues (liste exhaustive tout en bas) ;

Liste des langages supportés : Français, Anglais (Australien, Canadien, Britannique, Nouvelle-Zélande, Sud-Africain, Américain), Allemand (Autrichien, Allemand, Suisse), Asturien, Biélorusse, Breton, Catalan (et Valencien), Chinois, Danois, Espagnol, Espéranto, Galicien, Grec, Italien, Japonais, Khmer, Néerlandais, Perse, Polonais, Portugais (Brésilien, Portugais, Angolais, Mozambicain), Roumain, Russe, Slovaque, Slovène, Suédois, Tagalog, Tamil, Ukrainien, Arabe.

In loving memory of Languagetool. My best friend in writing for the past 5+ years and a lot of fun to have around. Our days are now behind us. It is with huge regret that I submit this 1-star review and uninstall Languagetool. Anyway, I don't get why they'd do this. So they're kicking out all their free customers. Alright. Is this gonna encourage those customers to pay to continue using it when there are a hundred other free alternatives around? Now their usage base is gonna drop by like 95% and it's not like it'll get them any more profit or paying customers. Good luck to you Languagetool.

Paying for real improvements is one thing. But when the creators suddenly decide to charge just because they can... nope. You can’t. Best of luck (no)

Apparently, the new business model is 'pay up because the AI boom scared us.' It doesn't take a genius to realize that alienating your user base is a death sentence. Good luck with the bankruptcy; turn the lights out when you're done.

I partly understand the move to a paid only model but it does feel like an immediate move to the nuclear option to stop the tool working at all for free users. Additionally, since I had the notification and the extension stopped working, this extension caused bad behaviour on my chrome. Tabs would start automatically closing one-by-one, and no matter how many times I reopened them, they would continue to close. Quite a scary surprise - felt like some sort of malware had infected. I disabled my extensions one at a time to observe behaviour, and languagetool was the one causing this bug...

Was great until they went paid only, there is an alternative called Private Grammar Checker - Harper chrome extension on here, so give that a go as it does the same thing.
David Wolfe
Requires payment.
Jose Sevillano
This was one of the best spelling extensions, but instead of offering actual value and great features on the premium version, they decided to manufacture a paywall offering nothing extra. Making it premium only has absolutely destroyed the trust I once had on them.

£47.92 /year. No thank you,
Floriano
Very good app, the company that I work use it all day long!
Кирилл Рудавин
Don't install that paid garbage. I will find free alternatives.
Kerry Elverstone
I've used this for years, its amazing. I understand the need to make money on the product, but its completely priced out of my budget. I'd pay £3.99 for it monthly but I can't afford to buy a year up front!
Spyros Ntaountakis
Payers only. What a shame...
Dan de Lench
So far excellent, still learning it!
Ryan itam
I've been using this for more than 2 years and this is what they give back?
Lairfite
Was great and free, now subscription is the only option? screw subscriptions. -_-

This product is amazing! Despite the negative review's I am not completely sure why anyone would give this product a negative review. This is easy and simple to use. With just a few clicks of a button it corrects any mistakes/typo's made with a blink of an eye. This product is worth your time. Please utilize this tool in all aspects of writing. Thank you for providing a solid tool! I've been using it for over 6 months now, and have never had any issues.

Unethical. Uninstalled.
Chris Hawryluk
It added a Premium trial on it's own and now that it ended it just says "Upgrade to keep using this browser extension and enhance your writing quality across the web." and no longer works. I guess back to Grammarly.
Justin Knoke
Great tool but it's a spell checker, I'm not paying for that.
someperson v
why paid really make this one without ai andask to pay for AI
Google “Wizard” Account
I've made a "difficult" decision to delete this extension as they just announced that it's no longer free. So don't waste your time here, there's plenty of free alternatives
Joshua Chaput
Now with a crazy subscription fee
Jacob Cornwell
greedy pos company, I will not pay to continue to use your app
Ricky Hain
Its pretty funny how they act as if their hands were forced into making this a paid service. No one should pay a recurring subscription for a service that does not receive or need regular updates. Many people downloaded this because they were tired of Grammarly's pay-walled suggestions. You were not forced into make this decision, you just waited until your user base was big enough for this made sense financially. Also, your prices are ridiculous and intentionally deceptive. The fake 20% discount, and the range from $20 to $4 a month depending on the plan

I have used LanguageTool for years. I write in a combination of American English and British English, and since I am learning German as well, this was the perfect tool for me. I am upset that it has come to me uninstalling it when I used this tool everyday for years. RIP to the greatest spell checker I have used.
Mark Rosenthal
They just told me I have 14 days to decide, I must buy the premium version or I won't be able to use the extension anymore. This was the easiest decision I have made all year, I didn't like this extension that much to begin with.
Shawn Davis
Are you joking? You're browser is literally called AI Grammar Checker and you're going to start charging a stupid amount due to AI taking from you?
Carlos Carroll
1 star for being greedy....
Matthew Durham
It was an excellent free spell checker that I used regularly, but there's no way I'm paying for a subscription to use it.
M. S.
RIP Language tool... you guys were one of the best extnesions, but it wasn't a smart move to suddenly cutoff all your users, not to mention the insane pricing you came up with... for features no one requested!! lol
David Swanson
Ridiculously priced. The browser extension was free. Received a notice that they have removed "WITHOUT" notice any use of the browser extension due to AI. Yet, their extension is called "AI Grammar Checker & Paraphraser – LanguageTool". I understand, if you have to start charging. But, let's be clear here, LanguageTool is a "BASIC" tool. It's not Grammarly! Yet, they want you to pay $20.00 a month. ABSOLUTELY insane! If it was $1.50 maybe $2.00 I would subscribe. But, between the no notice cut off and the insane pricing. You're right LanguageTool. I will be subscribing. Just not to you. To Grammarly!
Nikki Skye
I use apps like these specifically because I want to write my own thoughts, not ask some AI to mindlessly generate everything for me. If others want to use AI, by all means, but I don't, nor any interest in it. I understand a company needs to make money, but it's insanity to expect me to be a paying $20 monthly subscription for this browser extension. This smacks of trying to squeeze the userbase for as much money as possible before the AI bubble bursts. No thank you.
wrenbow
not paying for something I don't use (AI) RIP LanguageTool
Anonymous User
I would gladly pay for a tool I use regularly, but $8 per month is highway robbery, especially when the desktop tool only works with less than a dozen apps. This is worth $2–$3 per month AT THE MOST, especially in its current state.
Luke Collins
I am not paying for this no thanks.
Clinton Barnes
Not even close to worth it.
Maxim Bukvich
I did not ask for AI, so why do I have to pay for it? Please leave the basic tool available for the users without AI!
Unnamed Sandwich
Used to be the best extension until the latest update.
Lavi Ray (MK)
Bye bye, this tool is good but, for me, not worth the price you are asking for. Goodluck!
Matthew Bennett
PRODUCT NOT WORKING. TELL THE ENGINNERS TO FIX THIS RIGHT NOW. THE COSTUMERS IS ALWAYS RIGHT

LET AI TAKE ALL CEOS OUT OF THE COMPANY. MAKE MONEY KILL THE COMPANY
Uri Sobi
I am willing to pay for your service. For example, $2 per year, or $5 maximum. But not $8 per month. In my opinion, you are cutting off a large part of potential buyers with an inflated price.
Casey
Was the best language tool out there, but unfortunately as others have mentioned, the over-emphasis on, and expense of A.I., has ruined a formerly great product.
Rukozzi
So....... they added AI, and they want to force(recommend) you to use it, and you have to pay for it. No, thank you.
JP Medina (JPandora)
I write normally in three different languages, I like that this tool recognize the language and make the corrections nicely. So far, is the best tool for correcting in different languages without confusing every text because it can't set the language (yes Microsoft Word I'm talking to you) ... and , it is open source!! . I abandon some others (couf couf grammarly ¬_¬) because they correct one unique language :( I hope that if they start using AI (that is already announced :/ ) would be for the better... we'll see
Raja sahab
100% good and recommended.
Daniel Rojas
This extension has always been the best, but they should offer a free plan without AI tools.
Vladimir Check
It is helpful but only if your knowing of the language is good enough. Else it can MASK errors since it does not understand semantics. Helpful, but far from a necessity. Save your money for necessities.
