There are many "web blockers" in the Chrome Web Store but WasteNoTime is the only extension that requires the minimal permission (accessing your browser navigation history only) to do its job. Other extensions like Stayfocusd would require permission to “read and change all your data on all the web sites that you visit”.
WasteNoTime is not only privacy conscious but it is highly customizable and feature rich.
* Instant Lockdown: Allows you to focus on your work for a period of time undistracted
* Per-site setting: Allows you to customize the time quota for a particular web site
* Work hour setting: allows you to define separate time quotas for your work and non-work hours
* +Links setting: Allows you to track time spent not only on the web site itself but on any link navigated from it. Super useful for web sites like Reddit or Hacker News.
* Time Tracker: Gives you reports on what web sites you spent most of your time, for the past day, week, or month

- This works like, 60% of the time, hence 3/5. I will put something on my block list. Close the window, and then be able to open a new window and open the same site. the amount of customization is great, but also, if at it's simplest I can't block a site and then walk away confident that it is blocked, then its all kind of not helpful.

- This app is absolutely fantastic. It's helped with my addiction to certain sites and the ability to add a password which you can give to someone else, or force you to enter a ridiculously long random string of letters before you can change your restrictions is a fantastic addition. Can't recommend it enough if you're trying to break addiction. Just remember to enable it to run in incognito mode too.

- I really like this app and it has been very helpful in keeping me out of YouTube. I think it would be great if there was a mobile version for your phone (unless there is one already and I just don't know about it yet). There have been apps that are similar to this, but none of them automatically force you off of an app completely (you can turn on the timer/ time limit but you can just ignore it).

- I was using a pay extension, but the subscription price kept going up :-( Also, I didn't need the bells and whistles. This extension is extension is basic but free. Totally worth kicking a $10 donation a couple of times a year!

- It is great that you can block pages which starts with chrome-extension:// etc. Not many blocking extensions can do that

- It works like a charm. If youreally want to control yourself, nlock all your distracting websites and choose a challenge of "Enter randomly genereated string". Suggestion: Allow us to block the extension management page, as it can be disabled from there, which would be counter-productive.

- gamechanger and non intrusive like similar apps (confirmed with chrome's default extensions bookmark that shows how much access activated apps have to your informationon webpages -- this needs and has NO access to any information on a webpage). Thank you so much for that! I have other Pomodoro style blocking extensions but I now prefer to use the "Instant Lockdown" feature in this app (with "Sites on Block List" blocked only) for it because it blocks sites so much more sensibly. I have to manually restart Pomodoro timers in the other extensions so this one is not that much different to use. Just a tip: I've noticed secured sites without "www." and only "https://" in the address have to be written only with https:// or exactly as it shows in the addres bar to be blocked in the app. Hope it gets updated soon...
