Autosave, everywhere. Recover lost form input with ease!
Typio Form Recovery automatically saves text as you type and lets you easily recover input data in case of loss. You are in full control of which sites auto-save is enabled on and how long the input is saved. Typio is lightweight, secure and your data never leaves your computer.

Recent changes:
Version 3.2.3 (18th September 2020):
Important: The Quick Restore popup will no longer show for contentEditable fields. These fields are known to not function as they should after restoring into them. Typio will no longer automatically restore data into these fields because there is no safe way of doing it. Your data can still be accessed from the Recovery Window and can be manually restored by copying and pasting it.
New: Better support for re-usable input fields (common in chat applications)
New: Better support for state based applications (React, Vue, Angular etc)
New: The Quick Restore Icon now re-positions with input fields if they change in size
New: Focus is now restored to the input after using the Quick Restore Popup to restore
New: More accurate text preview in the Recovery Window.
New: Improved copy function with better whitespace handling
New: Updated FAQ page with more information
New: The options page has been rewritten from ground up
New: The entire extension has been refactored to es6 modules and the build process has been updated and improved.
Fix: Fix edge cases with iframe editors
Fix: Radio buttons are now saved and restored more reliably
Fix: Lots of other bug fixes and preparation for future releases
Version 2.4.1 (1st August 2020):
Fix: In the Recovery Window, "Recover session" would not recover entries hidden hidden by the filters.
Fix: Lots of bug fixes.
Version 2.4.0 (29th July 2020):
New: You can now press Shift Delete to delete items in the Quick Access menu (from the icon).
New: Typio now stores the origin URL for each session (see "View page" next to the timestamp in the recovery window).
New: "Restore previous session" keyboard shortcut now tries to restore the previous session for the currently focused input field. If no input is focused Typio will restore the previous session (regardless if the inputs exist or not).
Fix: "Restore previous session" keyboard shortcut is now more reliable.
Fix: The Copy button sometimes didn't work in the recovery window when the entry was of type contenteditable. This is fixed now.
Version 2.3.4 (16th June, 2019):
Fix: Remove forgotten console.debug
Version 2.3.3 (29th May, 2019):
Fix: Scrollbar bug in Recovery Dialog.
Version 2.3.2 (9th March, 2019):
Fix: Performance improvements for frame injection.
Fix: Bug fixes for blacklist.
Version 2.3.1 (8th Feb, 2019):
New: Permissions description page.
Change: In the last update I accidentally included the "Downloads" permission which will be used in a future feature (database manager) that is being developed. The Downloads permission was not being used and was understandably causing confusion, so I removed it. (https://bitbucket.org/nicklassandell/chrome-form-recovery/issues/75/extension-suddenly-asking-for-mange)
Version 2.3.0 (8th Feb, 2019):
New: Changed blacklist to match against full URL path instead of just hostname (useful with regex)
Change: Disabled Save Indicator by default (can be re-enabled in options)
Preparation for future release (DB manager).
Version 2.2.0 (6th Dec, 2018):
New: Storage statistics in recovery window
New: Added "loading" text in recovery window for large databases (previously displayed "no entries found" which is misleading)
Fix: Clarified text for "input found/not found" in recovery window and added tooltip text for explanation.
Version 2.1.1 (4th Dec, 2018):
Fix: XSS security fix (report #67)
Fix: Minor design fixes
Version 2.1.0 (18th Nov, 2018):
Fix: Significantly improve loading speed (quicker initialisation)
Fix: Icon loading is no longer a blocking event
Fix: "Site is blacklisted" popup would sometimes pop up multiple times. It was a bit excessive, so I fixed it.
Version 2.0 (10 Nov, 2018):
New: Regex support for blacklist
New: Option to reset all fields between restorations
New: Option to clone entries upon restoration
New: Support for multiple concurrent same-domain tabs (previously did not work properly due to storage method restrictions)
New: Changed storage method, now much more reliable.
New: UI updates
Fix: Error messages sometimes thrown by save indicator

New: Added link to open keyboard shortcuts window in toolbar popup
Version 1.8 (9th Mar, 2018):
New: Restore icon next to inputs (configurable in options)
New: Quick Restore now has keyboard support
New: Added option to hide Typio in context menu (in favor of keyboard shortcuts)
New: Smarter restoration of entries that contain formatting
New: "You have disabled Typio on this site" message now gives you the option to enable Typio
New: Smarter display of entries in Quick Restore (Strips formatting and whitespace)
Fix: Bug fix for encapsulation injection on certain sites (polymer-project.org)
Fix: Keyboard shortcuts can now be pressed in any order
Fix: Fix some positioning issues with Quick Restore popup
Fix: "Delete all" now actually deletes all entries, including current session.
Fix: Fix bug that would cause database to be cleared upon refreshing the page multiple times quickly (see issue #28).

- (2024-05-05) Chris Vydas: Typio has never worked right for me since it was first introduced. Now it is completely broken and it's creator doesn't even care
- (2023-11-29) Domenico: Doesn't work anymore but I still give it five stars. Many thanks to the original coder Nicklas Sandell. And also thanks to Tsukumi Jima for creating a working reboot. Find it here, download the zip, unzip it and load it in developer mode. Works as a charm. https://github.com/tsukumijima/typio-form-recovery-reboot/releases
- (2023-11-10) Nick Gilbert: Used to be a fantasic app but it seems it's now abandoned and doesn't work at all :( Please fix it - I would pay for this app gladly.
- (2023-10-25) Mansoour Alshahrani: was one of the best extension ever for years, sadly it does not work anymore but they still get 5 stars for me.
- (2023-10-14) Arsen Bandurian: It was great while it worked, but it no longer works. Pity. RIP
- (2023-10-13) Hamim Adghirni: Still possible to use, just download an older version of chrome that is compatible. I am on Version 104.0.5112.101 (Official Build) (arm64) and all works great with this extension
- (2023-10-04) Will Daly: Literally doesn't work. Pointless software.
- (2023-10-01) ten “T” sand: I rated it 4 starts because its been overall really good and super helpful. HOWEVER past year or two it has not been working properly on Chrome at all. It works fine on Firefox browser. On the Chrome App Extension when you look at details of app the error logs have info there which seems its an issue based on coding that needs to be updated. Not a surprise since certain scripts like PHP and SQL versions some have EOL and new versions have rolled out.
- (2023-09-26) Shahn: Loved it but not working any longer.
- (2023-09-24) Abdellah B: Very good but it doesn't work anymore I just found a working fork here : https://github.com/tsukumijima/typio-form-recovery-reboot
- (2023-09-18) Chris Lozeau: No longer working. This previously happened with Lazarus Form Recovery when it stopped being maintained and it eventually got removed from Chrome Web Store for violating a policy. I'm again now concerned about my personal data. While form recovery apps are lifesavers, given the developer hasn't shared their privacy practices, how do I know they don't have access to all the data I've ever typed into fields in Chrome?
- (2023-08-22) Kari: three stars because it's apparently abandonware, but i gotta give respect anyway because when it worked it was a lifesaver. i hope the devs come back to it, or if they don't, i hope the store removes it because abandonware shouldn't still be available to download when it's useless, but either way, thanks to the devs for this extension while it worked. it was one of the great ones.
- (2023-08-14) Jonathan Holford: I know it no longer works. But I would like to say thank you to the original developer (and to those who have done their best to resurrect the project or to help some of us get going again). Typio was very useful for a good while and I am thankful that you gave of your time to help us all, for free. Life happens and who knows why you are no longer able to maintain it, putting hours more effort into keeping up with the ever changing world of Chrome Extensions and all their evolving security requirements? I hope all is good in your world. But, really, it doesn't matter why. I'm just grateful to have had it at all. :-)
- (2023-08-09) Neil Turner: Used to work. Doesn't work now.
- (2023-08-01) Luis Felipe Carranza: At the time was an incredible extension, really helped me out over the years, sadly the extension doesn't work anymore.. like AT ALL. I'm starting to use an extension called "Form History Control (II)" as a temporal replacement, the UI is awful in this new extension but at least gets the job done.
- (2023-07-30) Melissa “Nu” Waterman: Abandonware. Doesn't work and isn't likely to be fixed.
- (2023-06-08) This 8: Not Works on Edge
- (2023-06-07) Wojciech Benedyk: Używałem kilka lat, nie wiem kiedy wszystko się posypało i już nie działa. Wtyczka nieaktualizowana od 2023. Trzeba szukać alternatywy.
- (2023-06-04) Deuce Bigalow: From: Angelo ElkhouryApr 3, 2023 Here's the steps to fix Typio: 1.Downlod 'Chrome extension source viewer' from the Chrome Web Store 2) Download the Typio form recovery plugin as a zip: (See: "How to View the Source Code of a Chrome Extension: https://www.howtogeek.com/198964/how-to-view-the-source-code-of-a-chrome-extension/") 2.Unzip and open 'content.js' (which is kind of a messy file) in the 'js' folder 3.Add the following code at the very end & save: Object.defineProperty(Event.prototype, 'path', { get: function() { return this.composedPath(); } }); 4. Go to chrome extensions settings & enable "Developer mode" on the top right 5. Click "Load unpacked" on the top left and select the plugin directory folder with the edited content.js: Notes: The process is like the following. 1) From your browser address bar type: brave://extensions/ 2) Find your "Typio ID" from the list of extensions. Mine is: djkbihbnjhkjahbhjaadbepppbpoedaa 3) Click the "Load Unpack" option at the top of the page. 4) Find your Chrome Extension folder: Mine is: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\djkbihbnjhkjahbhjaadbepppbpoedaa\3.2.4_0\ 5) Click "Select Folder" 5) The end. Your done. (For more detail: "How to View the Source Code of a Chrome Extension" from above)
- (2023-05-29) Feathami: Sad that it doesn't work anymore, I've used it so much in the past... It saved my life a big number of time but i guess it's time to find an other one.
- (2023-05-25) Darren Overby: Abandonware - Doesn't work - developer doesn't respond to emails. - Why can't we have good things on the Internet?
- (2023-05-24) Zvi Twersky: Does not work anymore.
- (2023-05-21) Christoph Thiede: Works pretty well, but always spawns errors to your JS console: https://stackoverflow.com/a/75435373/13994294 Would be great if that could be fixed!
- (2023-05-20) krackenmclackin: I am so disappointed, I loved this program for so long, and used it for many many years. Unfortunately, as many other reviews have pointed out, it simply just doesn't work anymore. I'm upset, but oh well. I wish I knew that, otherwise I would have looked for other options sooner. RIP Typio, you were good while you were.
- (2023-05-19) D: больше не работает
- (2023-05-12) Paul Melekhov: EN: Great extension. Was... Since February 2023 it doesn't work anymore. It's related to the Chrome update to the version 109. Nicklas Sandell (original author) is not responding. Extension last updated in 10/2020. There is a fixed version from another developer, but original extension is licensed by "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0" which doesn't allow to modify and distribute fixed version. Therefore try using alternative extension called "Formalizr". It's almost the same, just different interface.
- (2023-05-04) The_Pariah: Been broken for a while and not having it has screwed me a few times. Enough to the point I have to give it a 1 star. The developers clearly don't care enough about it to update it. Abandonware should be removed from the store.
- (2023-04-23) JD Mumma: Was great. Has not worked in months!
- (2023-04-22) Steven: Don't waste your time. This has not worked in a long time and never detects any fields on pages or saves anything at all! Reported to google for abuse as non working apps are not allowed on the store
- (2023-04-22) Vanessa M: Not recovering data.
- (2023-04-15) John Charles: .NO ME FUNCIONA. IT DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE AFTER ACTUALIZATION OF CHROME NIOT WORKING AT ALL. USELESS.
- (2023-04-14) Thomas Schittli Akros: Thanks a lot for your plugin. Typio only displays recovery data of the current domain, which is very annoying if one knows to have written content but not on which platform / domain. It's very sad that one can not open and view all saved Data of all domains.
- (2023-04-06) Rocky: Facebook has a nasty habit of deleting posts while writing them as part of their censorship policy. I got fed up of losing lengthy posts halfway through writing them, so this extension was a real life saver. However, last week I noticed it had disabled itself somehow, so I had to turn it back on? UPDATE: I gave the above review had a 5 star rating. However, I have had to change this to 1 star as it no longer works and it fails to detect and store deleted text. Also, the creator seems pretty deceitful too since on the `options', it falsely claims you can submit a ticket if you encounter problems. However, you can't even submit a support ticket unless you sign up for something called `Bitbucket', which doesn't allow access and you receive the error, "We can't let you see this page". The creator seems to have jumped ship since there is NO support.
- (2023-04-04) Liam: Doesn't work. Bloody useless.
- (2023-04-02) Minnie Bannister: As others have said, this extension no longer works (as of early 2023). However, a working fork of the original is available at https://github.com/tsukumijima/typio-form-recovery-reboot/releases/tag/v3.3.0 (though you'll have to install it manually – it's not hosted on the Chrome Web Store). Others have suggested formalizr (available on the Chrome Web Store here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/formalizr/ceoiohgolheciaefomofjboicekphfmp), but apparently it has less functionality than the original. You can see several Reddit users' reviews of these alternatives here: https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/10kuzoq/any_alternative_to_typio_form_recovery/
- (2023-03-24) Ryan M: I've ran into the issue of typing something long up and somehow losing it (hitting the back button in the browser for exampe.) It's really frustrating and annoying. So after that happened I installed this extension hoping to never struggle through that issue ever again. Fast forward 4 months later. I'm typing up a like 5 paragraph response and accidentally hit the back button on my mouse which made me lose all of that text I had typed. No big deal I figured, I installed that extension months back so this exact scenario wouldn't ever be a problem. Felt like a genius who outsmarted the computer as I strolled my mouse cursor up to the mountain tops that is the extensions icon in Google Chrome ready to open this extension in victory. Knowing I had accounted for this very scenario and had the galaxy brain to have my text sitting right there in the extension. To make it seem like it never happened. But this extension is a piece of garbage because when I opened up the dashboard, no text was there. This extension has one job and it can't do that one single thing correctly. It's impressive how bad of a piece of software this is actually. With one singular goal, it completely misses the mark and then some sad developer actually has to publish this complete waste of time onto Google's servers and stare into his disheveled reflection beaming off of his computer monitor knowing that this abomination is his life's work.
- (2023-03-21) Micky Macanori: This is less about the fact that it no longer works and more about the fact that there have been so many times when my text was "unable to be recovered" because they couldn't be stored for some arbitrary reason. For instance, if I start a post on Twitter, it will save that post, but then refuse to store any of my replies to anyone else. It's so picky as to what it can and can't restore or save, I've given up and am uninstalled entirely, this has nothing to do with it not working with the latest Chrome update.
- (2023-03-15) Walerian Walawski: Formalizr ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/formalizr/ceoiohgolheciaefomofjboicekphfmp ) works, but I preferred Typio Form Recovery... Since it can be done (and Formalizr is open source) please Cody, fix Typio Form Recovery ASAP. Thank you!
- (2023-03-15) Carlos Alberto Mata Gil (CeuxDruman): No me guarda ningún campo de texto. No ha funcionado nunca y en ninguna web, por lo que he vuelto a perder información importante.
- (2023-03-12) kai: not working anymore in latest Vivaldi. looks like it's abandoned
- (2023-03-11) tsukumi: It was a very useful extension that I used when my form content disappeared, but it stopped working when the Events.path API was discontinued. I lived without it for a while, but after a few frustrating minutes of disappearing form content, I decided to improve the source code. You can download my improved Typio Form Recovery extension from https://github.com/tsukumijima/typio-form-recovery-reboot/releases. (Note that it is not published in the Chrome Web Store, so you will need to enable developer mode on the Chrome extensions page to load it). The fixes at https://github.com/ctsstc/typio-form-recovery-reboot are great, but the Vue 2.x -> 3.x and Manifest V2 -> V3 upgrades are too many changes, and currently the configuration pages, etc. are broken. While it is preferable to keep dependencies up to date, I needed something that worked as before anyway, so I developed a version that was still Vue 2.x and Manifest V2 with minimal changes.
- (2023-03-10) Andrew Woolner: Was wonderful, but broke with recent Chrome update. Will rate higher if it comes back soon, of course.
- (2023-03-09) Client Service: NOT WORKING ANYMORE AT ALL ! Can the coders help ? I still vote 5 stars because this extension has been the best for so many years ! Thanks again ! UPDATE: I have now installed Formalizr and it seems to work. PLEASE REPLY TO MY COMMENT IF Formalizr is good for you or not ?
- (2023-03-06) Rev Eance: It worked pretty well, but has completely stopped working recently
- (2023-03-06) Vinayak SP: NOT WORKING
- (2023-03-04) K C: This was pretty useful back when I first got it, but now it's just completely stopped working. Guess I'm off to find a different one... :(
- (2023-03-03) Kyle Webb: This was getting buggier and buggier over the last couple of years, but it not no longer works at all on 90% of the pages I've tried it on.
- (2023-02-28) Eric Nunlee: This extension is a life saver but no longer works Does anyone have an alternative or will this app get back to working again?
