Peek is a browser extension that shows previews for links to files and supported services in web pages. Just hover your mouse over a link, and Peek will display a small popup with an interactive preview of the link's content.
Peek can show previews for PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, YouTube video links, audio files, Google Docs, and much more. It uses the browser's built-in rendering features, in combination with the Google Docs Viewer, Microsoft Office Web Viewer, and other third-party embedded viewers to display rich previews.
Supported file types:
- PDF, TXT, and RTF documents
- WebM, MP4, M4V, OGG, OGV, and Imgur GIFV video
- MP3, M4A, OGA, OGG, and WAV audio
- Word documents (.doc, .docx)
- Excel spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx)
- PowerPoint files (.ppt, .pptx)
- OpenDocument files (.odt, .ods, etc.)
- JPG, PNG, APNG, SVG, GIF, ICO, and BMP images

- (2023-11-08) Nicole Ahmed: Excellent extension and a very responsive developer. I've tried lots of the office extensions on chrome and most are rubbish, some are malicious. This extension is innovative and so useful. The peek window to preview files before fully opening them is excellent, The pop out window is great because you resize the window and have it open alongside your other work. This doesn't have editing capabilities, just viewing. But is very useful for viewing documents conveniently. Highly recommend

- (2016-09-15) Donavon Lasseter: Worked for about half a second. Chrome freezes when in use. Have to restart my computer.

- (2015-12-08) Matthew K: Really neat idea. Can be a little intrusive (pops up quick and often), so an option to only pop up when holding a hotkey would be ideal.
