This extension hides your Gmail inbox by default, so you can search your archive or compose messages *without getting distracted*.

P.S. When you actually want to see your inbox, press "Show Inbox".
### Why would I use this?
If you're into batch processing or the Pomodoro focus technique, this extension will probably make sense to you.
If you're okay being frequently interrupted, or you have a job that obliges you to deal with new email very quickly, this extension probably isn't for you.
### What about my privacy?
The extension requests the minimum permission it requires in order to add the "show / hide" inbox feature to Gmail. The extension does not and never will read your emails or other personal data.

### Does it work on Inbox by Gmail?
Yes, the extension supports both classic Gmail and Inbox by Gmail.

### How is this different from the Inbox Pause extension?
The main difference: Inbox When Ready hides your entire inbox by default, while Inbox Pause by Boomerang only hides new incoming mail.

EXACTLY what I needed - a way to CHOOSE when to look at my inbox, without being baited by that darned little number in parentheses. :-) UPDATE: I just realized that I have been using this tool for over a year now! I recommend it EVERY time I talk about time management with friends and associates! I cannot BELIEVE what a difference it has made in my approach to email. - UPDATE: Is anyone having issues with emails not sending, and needing to refresh and then send again? It's SUPER annoying, and this is the only thing i can identify that may do it. I had to change my 5 star to 3 star for now... -- This is such a beautiful add-on, i love it

- This was easy to download and did what it promised. The only thing I wish for is the microsoft outlook version, as this is where 99% of my email time is spent for work. Gmail is my home/kids/social email so not the timesucker that Outlook is.
