Description from store Crackbook Revival is an open source fork/modification of the original Crackbook extension by Gintautas Miliauskas (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/crackbook/nbgjmohekjolcgemlolblankocjlgalf) This is a Chrome extension for discouraging use of attention-sucking websites such as Facebook or Reddit. The idea behind Crackbook is that delaying access to the website is more effective than straight blocking because you are less likely to just disable the block after a while. The extension will delay every hit to blacklisted site. The delay is just a few seconds initially, but it increases slightly on every hit. Revival Changes: - Removed attempted reporting of anonymous usage data (which wasn't working anyway due to original site being offline). - Delay timer resets on specified intervals (which was already in the original repository but was not published on the store). - Hide scrollbars until the content is revealed. - Some fixes for the history graph. - Some fixes for the options interface. - Add option to use a blurred overlay - courtesy of @prettymuchbryce - Pause video and audio in the background - courtesy of @nickwb - Other minor fixes.

  • (2021-04-05) Gusts Mūrnieks: It really works! I use it with "MAD - Mindful Anti Distraction" addon- they work hand in hand. When you get passed one barrier, there is another!
  • (2021-01-31) Varish Persaud: It seems good (haven't tried it for more than a couple of times), but there are websites that I want to block to VARYING DEGREES- as some websites I only want to check e.g. 5 times a day and others not at all, so it's hard to find a balance between these different aspects.
  • (2021-01-19) Space Clottey: Fabulous extension. Thanks
  • (2020-04-16) Ильяс Джаббаров: At each start, the settings are reset, it is impossible to use. Everything else is good
  • (2020-04-16) Captain Bob: In the first day of installation, this app has already probably saved me half an hour or more. Thank you so much!
  • (2020-02-21) Parikshit Misra: Works as advertised. Noticed a google reader easter egg that makes me sad.
  • (2020-02-17) Thameera Senanayaka: I use Freedom app, but this extension is better since I don't have to specifically start a session and does not completely block the site either. Exactly what I needed to break the addictions. Thanks!
  • (2020-02-14) Harold Cooper: This is great! I've tried completely blocking addictive sites before, but I would always end up turning the blocking off sooner or later, whereas this more subtle annoyance feels like it will gradually wean me off in a much more effective way.
  • (2019-10-07) George K: Love this app, thank you man
  • (2018-11-05) Enormous 7174: No Incognito mode support?
  • (2018-09-10) Joseph Osgood: I love the idea behind crackbook, but... without the ability to "lock" the settings (maybe with a time delay or something), I find myself simply removing websites from the "junk site" list, rendering the extension useless...
  • (2017-09-12) Tyler Casselman: How do you remove domains from your list? I accidentally added some I don't want to block.
  • (2017-08-01) Oluwaseun: Useful and innovative idea. Far more effective than other productivity apps that only block. Wish something could be made for distracting apps on phones as well. Highly recommend.
  • (2017-07-21) julie: it's okay, works better for me than other productivity extensions like stayfocused. but why can it only handle 13 domains? is there any way you could make it delay more of them? thanks a bunch.

  • (2020-09-28, v:1.5.1) Akira Lee: Not working in incognito mode?
Hello, I just installed Crackbook and realised it does not work on incognito mode as a Chrome extension at all? This is a problem for me (and I'm sure many others) as it is an easy way to circumvent the blocking of junk sites.
  • (2020-05-17, v:1.5.1) Eduardo Castiñeyra: Custom Message
I like the extension but I'm missing the option of writing a custom message to myself I can read while the site is blocked.
  • (2020-05-02, v:1.5.1) Paweł Bieliński: Non-junk junk
The app worked fine and nice for about one day, until it started blocking my access to sites that it should not. In fact, it's blocking the access to google docs which it has no reason to, as it is not marked as junk.
  • (2020-04-16, v:1.5.1) Ильяс Джаббаров: settings reset
Each time you launch the browser, the settings are reset. What can be done with this?
  • (2020-02-13, v:1.4.0) Miscellane J: Can you add multiplicative delay?
I would like multiplicative delay to have a severe degradation over time. Because sometimes a site could be useful, so I would want a small initial delay. But if I'm addicted, I want it to ramp up fast. Additive delay feels manageable somehow.

Do you plan to make an Android version?
  • (2018-10-26, v:1.3.3) Privacy concerns
When I click the button to download this extension, I'm warned that it will be able to read and change all the data on the websites I visit as well as my browsing history. This seems like a pretty serious privacy concern--can you explain how this works?
  • (2018-05-23, v:1.3.3) Hubert: Different delays for different sites
Would you be able to make it such that you can have different delay setting for different websites?
  • (2018-05-23, v:1.3.3) Hubert: Daily delay reset doesn't work
I have Reset the delay every day to 90s checked and to increase the delay by 30s every time I try to access the website but it doesn't reset to the 90s the next day.
  • (2018-01-04, v:1.3.3) Sean: Links within blocked site also blocked
Hi there, love the extension! Trying to set it up for Gmail, and it works... except if I click on an email to view it, it once again blocks the site. Any idea for a workaround?
  • (2017-12-07, v:1.3.3) Jack Frost: Delays sites that aren't junk sites
Like the old Crackbook, this version still sometimes blocks non-junk websites. I noticed it does it whenever you switch to a junk site and then click back to a non-junk site. Workaround or future update?
  • (2017-09-12, v:1.3.3) Tyler Casselman: Can't delete urls added
I can't remove any urls that I've added.
