• (2023-08-16) Timofey Sherudilo: Beautiful and convenient. But some site icons aren't automatically found. Some rival extensions do this work perfectly, and with NelliTab I should replace a dozen of icons manually. It would be great to make the automatic icon selection more reliable :-)
• (2022-08-30) Timur Born: Of all the dozens of "New Tab" extensions I tried this is the one I am sticking with. It seems to be the only extension (at this time) that - among other things - displays mostly visited Top Sites in an appealing manner with lots of customization options. The hamburger button offers additional utility. There are a few minor issues and limitations, but no deal-breakers. - Von all den duzenden "Neuer Tab" Erweiterungen, die ich ausprobierte, bleibt diese installiert. Es scheint die einzige Erweiterung (zur Zeit) zu sein, um - neben anderen Dingen - die meist besuchten Top Seiten in einer ansprechenden Weise anzeigt, mit reichlich Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten. Das Hamburger Menü bietet zusätzlichen Nutzen. Es gibt ein paar kleinere Probleme und Einschränkungen, aber keine Dealbreaker.

The only problem encountered is that I like to use custom icons for my neatly arranged bookmarks, and very often when I click on then to open them, the custom icon I put changes back alone in the "default" one, and I need to edit it again to put back the custom icon. If this problem was to be solved, it would be a five star extension! (:

  Hello. It would be nice if we could upload custom icons via URL and not just from our local drive. Furthermore an option to use favicons as icons would be very useful.

  Some of my top sites do not show their favicons regardless of how many times I navigate to them, just to show up at some much later time. Some sites that share the same navicon switch places (when one shows then the other does not, once I navigate to one it removes the navicon of the other). For some sites I cannot make the navicon appear at all it seems (despite them having one as seen in the title bar text when navigating there). I also had some on and off problems with creating images, but after some time (and multiple navigation to sites) most now have shown up.

  I don't know how Top Sites are determined but something like Craigslist or weather network is not on it when I was on them several times last week, but the article I just went to on Vanity Fair got on it right away. Then I clicked on it again and now it's on the second row so like #10 on my top site. Somehow this is not right.
