FoxFilter - The content filter!
Extension Actions
FoxFilter helps block pornographic and any other user-defined content. Great for use in your home, business, library or classroom.
FoxFilter content filter helps block harmful and inappropriate websites across computers and Android devices. Fully customizable for parental control, schools, and organizations, with flexible whitelist and blacklist controls, along with protection designed to help keep the filter in place.
Getting Started
Once installed, right-click on any web page and select "FoxFilter Settings" to customize your filtering preferences.
Additional Security Feature Now Available
To help keep FoxFilter from being removed or disabled, we now offer instructions and an optional helper script that can apply browser policies on your device. These policies use standard administrative controls, making it more difficult to bypass or turn off FoxFilter using normal browser settings. Why users choose FoxFilter
FoxFilter is designed to be simple, flexible, and reliable for a wide range of users:
* Fully customizable filtering based on websites and keywords
* Whitelist and blacklist controls for precise access management
* Password-protected settings to help prevent unauthorized changes
* Works across home, school, and organizational environments
* Lightweight browser-based solution, no separate software required
FoxFilter helps block content based on user-defined websites or keyword criteria. You can block entire sites or define custom keyword filters that apply across the web. You can also allow specific sites or keywords as exceptions.
The filter includes a built-in list of common keywords and allows you to expand or refine that list to meet your needs. This flexibility makes it suitable for both simple home use and more controlled environments like classrooms or shared devices.
All settings can be password protected, helping ensure that your configuration stays in place. A password recovery option is also available.
Sensitivity
FoxFilter includes sensitivity settings that allow you to control how aggressively content is filtered. If "Examine Body Content" is enabled, filtering may become more aggressive and could block sites that contain certain keywords within page content. If this occurs, you can adjust sensitivity settings or add exceptions as needed.
Support
If you have questions or need assistance, please visit our website before leaving a review so we can help resolve any issues.

Privacy

If you choose to create an account, your email address and password are used for authentication and settings synchronization purposes only. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties.

- Please support payment method other than PayPal for subscriptions. And consider updating the app to 2024 as it says "Updated: June 7, 2021".

- If you don't know anything about the "settings" page, the star rating is probably accurate. This doesn't come configured out of the box. However, if you have been around computers for a while, this is a very easy to configure extension. It needs to be set up by the user or administrator. You need to tell it what counts as an off limits word as well as words that are fine if you come across them. The lists that come with the extension aren't very good (like blocking 18+ and sex might hit on randomly generated urls), but if you spend some energy on it, it isn't that hard to get it just right. With the subscription, it will keep your lists on a cloud server, where you can update it for all the users you have logged in. It takes about 10 minutes to update after a change. You can block the URL and Title, or you can make it block anything on the page. It can be made to block the "extensions" page, so keep the password easy to find. That means you can't uninstall it without doing some very involved computer repair stuff. You'll forgive me for not saying how here. You can also set the extension to run in incognito mode. You can set the error to be the default, which tells you what keyword was found and blocked, or you can set it to redirect to another page. You can make your own error page on a hosted site, or you can redirect to kids' Britannica or something. I limit the internet for my teens, of course, but I also use it for myself. I don't want porn on my computer (though part of me does). Even knowing how to change the settings, I have to overcome my laziness to walk over to where I store the password, spend the energy to enter it, update the settings, wait for it to propagate. With that kind of difficulty, my better nature keeps my carnal nature in check most of the time. There's no impulse internet viewing with this app in the way. Of course, if you have the knowledge and the inclination, you can get around anything, but if you have the inclination, it's easy enough to go to the adult bookstore down the road too. I use other tools, Clean Browsing DNS, Google Family Link, Accountable2You, but one blocks too little, another blocks too much, and one tells on you for false positives all too often. With all the euphemisms out there for adult organs and activities, it really does take a personal touch. A consistent pattern of updating, daily, then weekly, then monthly. IMO, I couldn't do this internet viewing thing without Foxfilter. If your hand makes you sin, cut it off. You know what I mean? Not your hand so much as keywords and websites.

- Its a content blocker that can block content that contains certain words, so it blocks youtube and spells it out to the a child we blocked this because "Found the blocked keyword 'free and sex' in the page's Body" Exactly why would I want the very banned words displayed as a result on the block page.

- Paid for that hoping that it could be set not to be uninstalled... I guess I lost my money... :/

- When it blocks a site due to a false positive, there is a button that reads "trust this site" so we can continue to the site. I find that helpful because I tried another site where I could not even get a reply to my messages to allow me to see clean sites that probably were just mentioning products from the Naked brand of juice or something innocent.

- EXCELLENT, even for other uses! Since antivirus suites no longer allow you to type undesirable URLs into the firewall, this extension comes as a true blessing! Even for those who don't care about filtering "adult" content, this is useful to get rid of "clickbait" websites and other annoying pests. You can insert your own filters the EASY way! (True, it requires some TLC. For example, since Google now owns "Doubleclick", getting rid of Doubleclick may also block YouTube, so I had to cancel that filter. But aside from a few exceptions like that, it is EXTREMELY useful!)

- Works great. It seems much more thorough and effective than other filter and it's very fast. It has occasionally blocked a page I didn't want it to, but it's easy enough to add the page to the list of trusted sites. It was also very easy to add my own filtering criteria.

- The new versions just keep getting better and better. This is just what I was looking for. It works really well for blocking pages that I don't want my kids to see. What's cool is that it completely hides a page while it is checking it over. Other filters that I have tried actually allow the page to be seen for a second before they block it.
