Is it legal?
Yes. All bids placed within listing time frame are valid. Here's quote from eBay help: "Placing a high bid in the closing seconds of an auction-style listing is called “sniping” within the eBay community. How does it work?

- (2022-11-21) Nightelvee: Edit: The "Add to Snip"-Button on eBay listing pages is Back! :-) Everything's fine. I've been using snip for at least 10+ years now. I've never had any troubles with it. Sometimes the snipes wouldn't make it in time, but that happened with a 0.01% chance, if I had to guess. Yes, the snipes cost money, however they're worth every cent. So... Thank you for your service, korba.

- (2020-02-18) Andy Smith: Cost money. You don't find that out till after that have a lot of your information and you have spent a few minutes setting this all up. The "ammunition" is pricey. You have to pay for each bid, and you are only allowed so many.
