Get reddit notifications in chrome
UPDATE 1.0.6:
Desktop notifications have been added, so you will get a notification pop up in the lower right. To enable this go to the settings page and turn on the feature. Thanks to goibon for the pull request!
UPDATE 1.0.5:
New message icons with Retina/HiDPI support thanks to swiftSwathSee!
UPDATE 1.0.4:
HTTPS Support -- All messages are now loaded securely due to popular demand!
However, if you currently have the extension installed you will need to re-enable it as we now need to ask for new permissions to do this. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it's worth the new security improvement!
UPDATE 1.0.3:
We've listened to your complaints! Sorry it took so long:
- Fixed the weird font issues people were having
- Added the ability to play a sound when a new notification arrives (Check the options page)
- Decreased the minimum refresh interval to 5 seconds

The Reddit Notifier allows you to see new replies and orangereds (messages) across your browser. One click brings you to the new content, so you can reply quicker and win arguments on the internet faster. Notifier will automatically check for new messages and replies at a user-specified interval and preview them when clicked.
Reddit Notifier was developed by two RIT freshman at Rochacks 2014, a 24-hour hackathon at the University of Rochester.

- (2019-04-04) Nick Pereira: Good to know when you get new messages. When you click on the message notification they are not marked as read though, so that is an issue. Clicking on the notification links to the message with parent context. If marking it as read is not possible from clicking the notification, it would be an improvement if clicking the notification linked to your inbox so that you can mark it as read on the reddit inbox.
- (2019-02-19) Radley Sustaire: It's an OK extension but it doesn't clear notifications after you click on them. The issue was reported last year and still isn't fixed. It's too bad
- (2018-10-13) TalkInMyFace ‘: Highly recommend for anybody who uses Reddit. It gives a little "pop" noise whenever you receive a notification, and takes you directly to the reply when you click on this. Very recommended, and high regards to the devs for creating something so awesome and convenient.
- (2018-06-03) Brad Hebert: Doesn't work most of the time.
- (2017-11-05) John Smith: This is a great extension, but there are four things which I don’t like about it, which is why I’m only giving it two stars. Firstly, if you don’t click on the notifications, they’ll keep popping up every ten seconds or so. There is no way to disable this or change the interval, which makes this extension extremely annoying to use unless you constantly click on the notifications. Secondly, if you click on the notification icon in your toolbar, it will close and remove all the notifications unless you click them all simultaneously before the box closes. Thirdly, you cannot click the notification boxes that appear in the lower right corner of your screen to instantly go to the comment, which is unfortunate. Additionally, sometimes, clicking a notification doesn’t work, and since they go away after the box closes, you have to go to Reddit and check your read notifications to see them. And lastly, replies don’t show instantly.
- (2017-10-14) K J: IT NEEDS SOUND ALERT
- (2017-08-16) Scott Beeson: 5 stars if it had a "Mark all read" option!
- (2017-07-24) Dyna Source: sometimes doesn't work. made me miss so any important notification
- (2017-07-21) Mark O'Neil: It's good, but a couple of things: 1. Sometimes it just plain doesn't work This seems to be a new development as in the last few weeks I've had to occasionally delete and install it a couple of times. 2. Clicking on the notification take you to 'messages' rather than Inbox Why on Earth would I want that? I want to see my new messages as they come in.
- (2016-12-14) _ Skylake _: Been using this for months now, and I love it. I have it to check every 5 seconds. Perfect for arguing with random people on Reddit and being swift with my responses. I'm actually here to make a complaint, though. For the past 2 weeks I've noticed that the notification marker doesn't go away after I've read the comment/message. I have to manually refresh from the icon. Please fix!
- (2016-10-30) Arcanus: Works amazingly. Does exactly everything it's supposed to do.
- (2016-10-10) Tintin 92: Works really for what it is. I just wish it would integrate with RES (and gimme unreads from all user accounts) and have a "Mark all as read" button.
- (2016-09-06) Squalus Vinco: It's an amazing app, perfect for roleplay subs where without this hours can pass between replies. I'd recommend it to anyone who uses Reddit, simply because it works well and isn't intrusive.
- (2016-08-24) Hisfantor: sehr genial. noch mehr als man eigentlich erhofft hätte, denn sound und desktop notifications machen es echt extrem praktisch
- (2016-07-27) Miguel Barragán: So I've been talking to this girl and we didn't have any contact besides of reddit; since Reddit only notifies you when you refresh the page I didn't know when she was logged in. Since I downloaded this extension everything is now perfect c:
- (2016-07-08) Marc Hoover: I love this thing, the only thing that is annoying, that a few other reviews have said, is that when you get a notification, the notification will continue to "popup" every 10-15 seconds until you view it. Other than that, this extension is great.
- (2016-06-28) Bernard Brenyah: Working as advertised so far
- (2016-06-14) Pants Cada: If you get more than one mail and click to open one then the other mails are marked as read and you can't open the extension to open then again
- (2016-01-30) Matthew Berrios: It works just the way it should! I like how it opens up the whole conversation between you and the person when you click on the message.
- (2016-01-06) Yassine D.: It used to work correctly until a few days. Now the popup keeps coming up coninuously which is annoying :-/
- (2015-12-06) Justin Lapsley: I have no idea what this was supposed to notify me of, but whatever it was, it never did.
- (2015-09-23) Mike Moran: Very helpful. Especially the sound it makes (which is disabled by default)since I can tell I got a message if i'm not looking at the top of my screen.
- (2015-09-23) TheSammy58: Sweet, simple, and to the point. Love it.
- (2015-04-13) Enrico Lamperti: Excellent!!! Helps a lot :)
- (2015-04-02) error23: TIP: enable the desktop notifications. Other then that it's a simple amazing extension. Thank you!
