Description from extension meta

Search and highlight multiple strings in webpages

Image from store Find Many Strings
Description from store "Find Many Strings" lets you search and highlight multiple words in a webpage. The difference between the browser's in-built Find feature and FMS is that, for every word you search, the word is highlighted in a different color and the highlights of the old searches don't disappear. WARNING: You need to reload all the tabs, if you want the extension to work on the tabs that were open prior to the installation of the extension. The extension is open sourced and you can feel safe about installing it with the permissions it asks for. The permissions are needed to draw the highlighting bar in your pages. *None of the accessed data is stored anywhere*. You can check the sources yourself, if interested at: https://github.com/curiosity/Find-Many-Strings New feature by Varunkumar Nagarajan: Select a text and call FMS, the selected word will be autofilled in the search box, and various other bug fixes. • (2021-02-23) Sulara Perera: Works well for me, Thanks for your effort, please provide a link to donate.
  • (2020-12-31) Wünderboy: Literally doesn't work whatsoever. Seperated using the default comma option, nothing highlights. Try changing it to something else. Copy and paste into field, nothing. Typed directly into field, nothing. Box doesn't even remember what was entered into it prior to hitting search when you opening it back up to try again. Abdullah Bagban is a plant. Not only does this extension not work, they're clearly trying to convince you that it does, which begs the question: why?
  • (2020-12-06) Abdullah Bagban: Awesome Perfect Time saving useful in office use I used it for searching multiple product id on webpage.
  • (2018-09-26) Jeremy Volland: The description is a bit misleading. This is not a search tool, it is simply a highlight tool. It provides no way focus on terms or to move from term to term. If all you want to do is highlight words on a page and aren't interested in being taken to the words, this might work for you. If you need an actual search tool. look somewhere else.
  • (2017-09-21) Louis Heyman: Doesn't work in input boxes
  • (2017-02-19) Alex Peka: Not working/Не работает
  • (2016-03-08) Kris Walsh: Does not search while typing.
  • (2015-11-19) Mon String: Exactly what I needed. No complaints as long as I can get multiple searches highlighted at the same time.
  • (2015-09-07) Titov Stas: non working
  • (2015-07-13) Richard Dunn: Works well, except for the clear all highlights feature. It hangs badly on large pages, i.e. Jenkins logs. The algorithm could do with some attention...
  • (2015-04-28) Gabriel Gross: Not working (Chrome 42.0.2311.90 m)
  • (2015-02-21) Gaston Liberman: Very buggy extension. Sometimes it works but it's not reliable and it isn't intuitive at all.
  • (2014-11-28) Hari prasad: Good Extension. Happy to see a icon in Tamil
  • (2014-08-08) Daryl Van Humbeck: Lousy UI. If I want to select multiple sets of text, GIVE ME MULTIPLE TEXT ENTRY BOXES! I had to figure out what "split the strings with:" meant, and that is a HORRIBLE thing to do to a user.
  • (2014-08-04) It is unfortunately not working anymore (Chrome 36 on OS X Mavericks)
  • (2014-06-20) Aravind S: It is not working. Not even highlighting text "06-16".
  • (2014-05-09) It's krap. It doesn't go tot the text that is highlighted, it doesnt even work most of the time to highlight any text on the web page. it's really a waste. Uninstalled within 5 minutes of installing.
  • (2014-04-13) Richard: Just what I needed for marking identifiers in online code examples.
  • (2014-02-23) Tomas E. Caram: Not working on latest chrome stable, nor dev, nor beta under Windows(7), Linux or Mac(Mavericks) as Feb 23th of 2014
  • (2014-01-23) Jeff Hanson (jhansonxi): Useful but needs to support case-sensitive searches.
  • (2013-08-20) Fred Foolged: not work for me
  • (2013-05-28) Gary Zheng: 應該不錯multi highlight
  • (2013-03-11) Alex Sjoman: Great implementation. A feature that would be helpful for me would be to allow the strings to be highlighted to persist. I'd like for specific strings to be highlighted automatically for any page that I'm viewing.
  • (2012-08-15) Augus Mend: It's ok, but it need an option to clear only 1 highlight especificaly, and a keyboard short to add and clear highlights.
  • (2011-12-19) Rio Wong: accept input of multiple criterion at a time using spaces as separators is needed for speeding up of searches
  • (2011-12-19) Marko Ilmari: Good things: Multiple strings can be shown simultaneously (+1 star), Selected text is automatically copied to "text to highlight" field (+1 star), Clearing all highlights is possible (+1 star) Things I don't like: Same colors can be seen on different strings (-0,5 stars), Colors don't seem to be choosen logically (there would be dozens of clearly different colors if selected systematically from a color map by color, greyness, whiteness, blackness, etc.) (-0,5 stars), There's no hotkey in current version (-1 star). All in all, few steps any more to be a perfect extension. :)
  • (2011-10-31) Peter Ølsted: Didn't let me highlight in PDF's, so its not really usefull. Also it really needs a keyboard shortcut.
