Description from extension meta

A pace.js page load progress indicator on every page.

Image from store Pace4Chrome
Description from store Pace4Chrome is a small extension for Chrome which injects pace.js (http://github.hubspot.com/pace/docs/welcome/) and a stylesheet into every page visited. This shows a progress bar (per default) on every page while it loads, complementing the default Chrome spinner, which by itself, is not very telling of the overall page load progress. You can customise the way that pace.js acts and looks on websites using the options page on which you can pick from 16 presets and change their colors, or design your own loading indicators in the advanced editing mode, allowing you to modify the CSS code directly. If you're an advanced user and know regular expressions, you can also blacklist sites that do not interoperate well with pace.js. Pace will not be injected on these sites. This extension does not collect analytics and will NEVER display or inject ads. The source code is available here: https://code.notro.uk/pace4chrome ---- Changelog ---- 2016-09-18: (version 2.0) - Updated the bundled pace.js. - Presets have been updated to the latest versions, provided by pace.js. - Restructured significant parts of the extension, added more comments. New in version 2.0 is also a URL blacklisting feature for advanced users. The blacklist simply consists of a list of regular expressions, separated by linefeeds, ordered from most specific to least specific. Each visited website's URL is tested against these regular expressions. Pace4Chrome will not inject pace.js on any blacklisted URL. Example: ^https?:\/\/news\.ycombinator\.com.*$ -- This blacklists news.ycombinator.com. Invalid regular expressions are ignored. Unfortunately I've had to break existing CSS settings in version 2.0, so you may be reverted to the defaults. 2014-05-17: - Updated the bundled pace.js library to the latest minified version available on their repository (https://github.com/HubSpot/pace) 2014-02-16: - Tiny release cleaning up the code just a bit & adding a license to the source files. 2014-02-15: - New options page offering the ability to change the colors of presets, previews and sporting a new design. - New Mobile Chrome preset based on 'Flash' but without the spinner. Looks like the indicator on Chrome for Android. 2014-02-14: - Initial release

  • (2016-01-11) Dean Walker: Such a simple app but so brilliantly executed. It is hard to believe that most browsers don't have this page load indication active by default. JUST DOWNLOAD IT, and change the colour to something bright.
  • (2015-12-17) Leith Marshman: Brilliant, one of those simple tools you wouldn't think much of, but when you try it you realise just how useful it really is! Does exactly as it is supposed to! ^^

  • (2014-04-18) BlueTinyOwl: Wonderful extension - I wish I'd found it earlier! Great for those days when the Internet connection gets wonky. Using the "Big Counter" - besides changing the colour I was able to change the display font in the style sheet.
  • (2014-03-24) Sinan Demirci: Great little addon, but i feel the loading bar shows up too late because it doesn't show up when i enter a new website, there's always a delay. Another thing is that the speed of the bar could be faster when the site is fully loaded if those things are fixed, i would gladly give 5 stars :)
  • (2014-03-07) Marcus Leonard: Finally someone did the obvious, thanks. Only thing I wish for is some indication that you're waiting for the server to respond. During this period, you still don't get a visual cue, so you're not sure you've made a request. Maybe just a small bar to start with. Maybe with a few dots/dashes at end to show that it's waiting.
  • (2014-02-20) I really like how it emulates the mobile chrome loading bar

Hi The settings are nor being saved, as when I start a new session or open a new tab it reverts :( I've tried multiple times changing the settings and saving, and have even removed the extension and reinstalled a few times, but it still does not save the settings :( I was really looking forward to using this and would appreciate any help or assistance in getting it to work. Many thanks. Regards Brian

  • (2016-11-15, v:2.0) Ubuntu Loader
Please add the Ubuntu loader. The Ubuntu loader is rounded on both sides, uses this colour: #E95420, and bounces back-and-forth. I think it would be cool to have just a bouncing back-and-forth indicator instead of one that indicates actual progress. It just makes the page look more important :D and is pretty cool. It is about 2 inches long horizontally and is about 12px thick. It has a slight gradient going darker as it goes downward, and the bar bounces back and forth swiftly.

Hi notro, On the Pace4Chrome Options page, none of the preset buttons are doing anything. However it *used to* work some time ago. I'm seeing the following error in the debugger: "options.js:119 Uncaught TypeError: document.getElementsByClassName(...)[Symbol.iterator] is not a function." (code at line 119 is: "for (let presetButton of document.getElementsByClassName("preset")) {"

Thanks for your great extension. It would be nice if you could remove the pace-done class from the body and the div.pace after loading and completion. As developer it is nice not to have "foreign" markup in the HTML. Best regards, Markus
  • (2016-03-31, v:1.1.0.2) Jay Necati: Waiting for the server to respond
Hi, Really good Would it be possible to also show when loading from the server. Could be the same or a 2nd colour. I noticed this reviewer mentioned it too: Marcus LeonardModified Mar 6, 2014 "Only thing I wish for is some indication that you're waiting for the server to respond. During this period, you still don't get a visual cue, so you're not sure you've made a request. Maybe just a small bar to start with. Maybe with a few dots/dashes at end to show that it's waiting." Thanks Jay
