Instead default start page chrome://newtab this extension allow you customize URL of new tab page. Override new tab URL. It's like browser.newtab.url, previously available in Firefox.

With this extension you can change the page which is shown when opening a new tab. Set your favorite site like a start tab page. Also, you can build and set your own start page from local disk. Just create it and set full path, for example, file:///C:/MyNewTabPage.html
