  • (2023-02-24) Gopal Kollengode: One nit with the recent update; it used to wrap tabs from the end back to the front and vice versa; now it looks like tabs don't wrap to the front/back. Any reason for this change?

  • (2021-05-19) Zachary Mares: Unable to edit my previous review, but I left 4 stars because it does everything I want it to do with the exception of buggy behavior where opt+shift+left/right would move tabs in spite of that function being mapped to ctrl+shift+left/right. A scenario where this might happen is when editing a URL and wanting to highlight whole words using opt+shift. Developer addresses this bug in other review comments. Setting the mappings from "In Chrome" to "Global" caused the buggy behavior to stop. Now I can use ctrl+shift+left/right to move tabs and opt+shift+left/right to edit the URL without clashing behavior. Because it does exactly what I want, 5 stars.
  • (2021-05-05) Lukáš Zapletal: Simple, works fine. I wish this also had a feature to move to the rightmost postition and actually to open tabs at the rightmost position.
  • (2021-04-06) Roman Roman: Works good, doesn't need any permissions
  • (2021-03-23) Murch Ewings: So simple and beautiful. Nice.
  • (2021-03-20) Václav Kubernát: On Linux, you can use Ctrl+Shift+PageUp/PageDn to move tabs, but this isn't present in the Windows version. This extension remedies this issue.
  • (2021-03-19) Derrick Hwechul Cho: As Ali Abbas' mentioned, option+shift+left/right in text selection situation, the extension shouldn't be activated. (Using a default setting; control+shift+left/right)
  • (2021-02-26) Ali Abbas: This should be built in to Chromium. Great feature to quickly rearrange tabs around with the keyboard. Only one issue: when you try to select text in the address bar using Shift+Option+Left/Right, it moves the tab instead of selecting the text. The shortcut for this extension is Shift+Control+Left/Right. The Shift+Option+Left/Right shortcut needs to be removed so we can properly select words in the address bar. Please fix!
  • (2021-02-22) XVXIIIXIIXVIII: It works fine, but I would like for it to be able to function alongside tab groups. Currently, moving a tab will open collapsed tab groups, and moving a tab will skip over locations when entering or exiting a group. 5 stars if it is changed to work cleanly with tab groups.
  • (2021-02-10) Muhammad Usman: Just works as expected! Thanks :D
  • (2021-02-08) David Lapointe Gilbert: I love it, but there's a bug on Mac OS that prevents using "alt" (option). If you set your keyboard shortcut to "ctrl + shift + left" for example, using "alt + left" also triggers for some reason. So it's impossible to use "alt" to select some text in the address bar word by word. In other words, somehow, "alt" triggers the extension as if it was a combo of "ctrl" + "shift". 👀
  • (2021-02-04) Thaki Chowdhury: Great extension and something I use several times a day!
  • (2021-02-02) Sören Mindermann: Moving tabs left/right doesn't work for me, only CTRL-SHIFT-UP/DOWN does anything
  • (2021-01-29) Srivathsan Mohan: Very Useful Extension
  • (2021-01-01) Kyle Youngblom: Works exactly as it should, huge QoL boost. I would love to see shortcuts for collapsing tab groups as well!
  • (2020-11-20) Jx DarkAngel: Excelente extension, muchas gracias. Para los que tienen el problema de Ctrl + Shift + FLECHA. Usen de preferencia el atajo predeterminado, porque ese atajo se usa en la mayoria de las aplicaciones para seleccionar palabra por palabra.
  • (2020-10-20) Aaron Bell: It works!
  • (2020-10-11) Triton Lord: Does exactly what it says it does. I find this extension exceptionally helpful for me since I regular use 150-400 tabs at once (RIP RAM), love it!
  • (2020-08-21) ZACHARY MARES: Love this extension! Just installed. I noticed a bug: I have (the default) ctrl shift arrows set for moving tabs left and right. This works great! Here's the rub: If I'm on a webpage and filling out a form field (for example, the very field I'm typing in now!) I can use option shift arrows to highlight whole words at a time. Makes for faster editing. However, if I'm focused on the URL (I'm a big fan of cmd L to edit URLs) and I similarly try to use option shift arrow to highlight part of the URL, the tab gets moved instead of the word being highlighted. This is despite ctrl shift arrow being set for that shortcut and not option shift arrow. This only happens when the URL bar is focused.
  • (2020-07-29) Artur Diniz Adam: Works as expected, no special permissions nor site access needed. Really great!
  • (2020-07-29) David Lau: Great extension, works as advertised.
  • (2020-07-28) Mosh Feuchtwanger: Thank you! Exactly what I needed.
  • (2020-07-08) Tobias Zaugg: Perfect, exactly what I searched!
  • (2020-07-05) Takuya Matsuda: Rearrange Tabs で「タブを並べ替える」という意味になるらしいです。キーボードのtabキーをどうにかする拡張かといつも勘違いしちゃいますが、機能としては気に入っております!
  • (2020-03-22) Roland: Beautiful simple and useful open source extension with a trustworthy permission set and an honest + active developer!

  • (2024-03-26, v:3.0.0) Evan Riegel: Allow tabs to "wrap around" like they used to, instead of separate shortcut
Hi there, I remember some years ago when I first installed your extension, it used to be possible for tabs to "wrap around" back to the beginning or end if you move the past the last / first position. For example, if you had 10 tabs open, and you open a new tab in position 11, pressing the keyboard shortcut for "move right", it would wrap around and move it into position 1. This is the default behaviour for a lot of tabbed applications such as iTerm. I see that there is a separate shortcut for "move to beginning / end", but I find this extremely unintuitive, and it's hard to remember which keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + Cmd + Left / Up / Down, that I should use whenever I need this functionality. I am in need of the "wrap around" behaviour almost daily, as I often open new tabs (which open on the right) and want to bring them "all the way to the left" into positions 1, 2, or 3, and so I hereby request that you bring back this "wrap around" behaviour, please! 🙏
  • (2023-08-29, v:3.0.0) Sébastien COLLOMB: Shift+Alt+home and Shift+Alt+end, and "make the turn" with Shift+Alt+right
Hello, these shortcuts Shift+Alt+home and Shift+Alt+end are not working anymore, it is very annoying. So much that when you have a lot more tabs than Chrome is able to display, the tab is hidden at the far rightside, and we cannot see it move. So, it is a long way to bring the tab to the left, one by one, and when the tab hits a collapsed group, it makes the group open. In the past, I remember we could also bring the last tab at the first position with Shift+Alt+right, and now it is no more possible, it was clever to make the turn backwards. Please, could you bring back all these functions ?
  • (2023-04-09, v:3.0.0) Vadim Soloviev: Feature "support for rearranging groups of tabs" request
Hello Mohnish, please add support for rearranging groups of tabs to the new version of the extension. In the current version, groups of tabs are getting ungrouped when rearranging, which should not be happening. https://hsto.org/webt/_j/r1/cv/_jr1cvu77kzzfqetgaolkozxd4c.gif
  • (2023-03-13, v:3.0.0) Panaos Alisandratos: Behavior changes when address bar in focus
I'm on a Mac and I have set my shortcuts as Left+Shift+Control and Right+Shift+Control for "Move selected tab(s) left" and "right", respectively. When I am not focused on the browser's address bar, the extension works as expected. However, when I am focused, Left+Shift+Option and Right+Shift+Option also cause tabs to get moved. This is in addition to the shortcuts I have set. When I remove the shortcuts, neither combination works. This is problematic because on a Mac Left/Right+Shift+Option is used to highlight text word by word.
  • (2023-03-03, v:3.0.0) Asaf Ben-Yehuda: doesn't seem to open any longer
Hi, I have been using it shortly, and besides a bug that some tabs could not be moved to other windows it worked. after some days it wont open up anymore so can not be used.
  • (2023-02-24, v:3.0.0) Connor Tran: Bring an option to allow the tab to cycle like the old version please :(
The reason why I installed this extension is because I have *a lot* of tab and there were no way to interact with the tabs that are out of range. I loved that you can cycle the tabs back to the ~100 tabs where I can see and interact with them. I not gonna lie it's kind of a deal breaker now that i have to click extra button instead of just spamming right. BUT it is nice that I don't have to spam a tab that's somewhere in the middle. So please maybe have an option that you can enable or disable the cycle? This is an amazing extension though.
  • (2023-02-16, v:3.0.0) Brian R: No longer works on Chromebook with latest update
Hello. Thank you for your awesome extension! I rely on it frequently. I notice it is not working on my Chromebook anymore. I thought I'd give a heads-up. Shift + Alt + left (for example) doesn't work. Thank you for your help and enjoy a super day! 🌞
  • (2023-02-16, v:3.0.0) Eyal Herlin: change in behavior of left/right navigation
Hi, Thanks for the extension. I have been using it for a long time and I love it. However, with the new 3.0.0 update you changed the behavior of left/right navigation: Now when I get to the end of one side of the tab-strip and keep moving the tab no longer cycles to the other hand. For me that was an awesome fluid feature. I can see people also liking the new mode though. How about having it as an option in a settings page?

  • (2021-03-12, v:2.1.7) Josiah D: MacOS Option+shift+left/right shortcut conflict
Hi, Like many others, I have an issue that regardless what the keyboard the shortcuts are set to, if you highlight the URL, the keyboard shortcuts of "option+shift+left" and "option+shift+right" move tabs. This is a problem because it conflicts with highlighting tabs word-by-word when focused in the URL bar. I see in previous answers the copy+pasted solution is to just change the keyboard shortcuts in the extension shortcuts page, but this doesn't fix it. Just to reiterate, no matter what we set those shortcuts to, it will also still conflict with selecting text word-by-word when you highlight into the URL bar.
  • (2021-03-09, v:2.1.7) Bryce Chee: Unable to use this extension on multiple user instances
If you have 2 users of Rearrange tabs in Chrome (eg. one work and one personal account), it would only work for one of them. You either have to live with it being useful on one user, or not use it at all. Hope this helps someone out there!

  • (2019-09-02, v:2.1.6) Nacho Cougil: It's great ... but it doesn't work with different profiles
Hi! I'm using your great extension, but now and because I'm used to work with 2 different profiles, it seems the extension does not recognise them and it only works in the 1st profile. If you install the same extension with both profiles, the same shortcut only works in the 1st profile even you can be in the 2nd. I'd like to know if it's possible to solve that issue, because it will be great to have the same extension working with different profiles and control in the same way no matter I'm using one profile or another ;-) Best,

  • (2019-06-03, v:2.1.6) Stefane Guevremont: Select Multiple Tabs with the Keyboard
To make this extension even better, it would be amazing to be able to select multiple tabs with the keyboard. E.g. Ctrl + Tab => Jump to the next open tab. There could be a function with Ctrl + ALT + Tab => Jump to the next open tab while keeping the last tab selected. That would allow the user to then press Ctrl + W to close the selected tabs, or to move them to the beginning or end.

Please keep this shortcut listening only for control + shift + {left, right} arrow. Until this is addressed, I must disable this extension.
